I agree Alan, but my 2 year old goes through clothes like you wouldn't believe. I'd have to pack 2 suitcases for him alone in order to not do laundry.
BTW, flying Southwest tomorrow (Yes heck did freeze over) to Nahville for a business meeting. I totally bonked and forgot to check in, wound up with B24. I refuse to check a bag for a 2 night trip. So here's to hoping I can get an overhear bin!

I think you will get bin space. I wouldn't worry. From what I understand our FL cities have more bags checked in than anywere else. I totaly get the two year old thing. What my mom did for vacation when I was young, she is the reason I refuse to do laundry on vacation, is to bring old clothes for me that I was about to stop wearing anyway. Then after I wore them she just tossed them in the trash. I went through clothes at 2 really fast.

Question to everyone who has done the PC cruise before and is recommending Palo or BBB for PC night for the views--correct me if I'm wrong, but since we are cruising in January, with some of the shortest amounts of sunlight per day that time of year, how would you really enjoy the views past like 5 or 6 PM? I've done 2 January cruises and even the earliest Palo seating is when its already almost dark, which is why I also enjoy Palo brunch to get the daylight view. Am I missing something here?

Sorry can't help you to much here. I would think that the sun would be up longer as we will be a lot further south than on a normal cruise. Other than that speculation, can't help as we like the main dinning rooms to much to miss.

seems that it will be dark by 6.30pm.

Thanks for the data. That is what I was thinking, sunset around 6pm or so, and this confirms it. I think maybe those who recommended the view from Palo and Topsiders on previous PC crossings were thinking of May and September when they cruised last time which would be dramatically more daylight compared to the dead of winter.

It's really not dramatically more. Closer to the equator the more even day and night are. You're still looking at 12 hours of sunlight. First cruise we had maybe 13 hours of sunlight. Not much more.

You're right, I just googled it myself, for today's date it had about the same thing, sun rising at 6 and setting at 6:30. LOL still doesn't answer my original question though, I don't get how people are suggesting Palo and BBB for the views for dinner on canal night if its dark?? All I can see at Palo at night are some people walking around the deck out there...

If you dine at 5:30 or even 6, you'll be in daylight/ twilight and you'd be amazed how much you can see.

I never thought about leaving the door open a little. However I use ear plugs as John snores for England, so I wouldn't hear the waves anyway!!!!!:lmao: He might though, and perhaps it would stop him falling into that part of sleep where he snores!!!:rotfl:

Marilyn, what kind of earplugs do you like best? The joke around our house is if Alan will live to see the end of the cruise or if i'll throw him overboard so i can get a good nights sleep!! I want to try some over the next few months. We were going to REALLY splurge and get a suite just for that reason, but they seem to be gone.

forgot about the 3 in 1 sheets. Thanks All! I'll try them here first, and suggest them to DD too!

BBB= Beach Blanket Buffett

For those of you doing laundry, keep an eye out on the mom websites like Money Saving Mom. She lists when Walmart and whatnot have freebies. I have a whole bag of laundry stuff for trips and I've not paid a cent for any of it.

According to timeanddate.com, the sunset should be at 6:16 PM in Panama on the day we are going through the canal.

Edit: just noticed someone else posted this, sorry for the repeat.

We left the last locks (August) at sundown. And yes, towards the end you couldn't see much.

This time we're going the other direction - and given that our actual time through the canal is unknown, I think there is no way to know before the day of transit exactly where we'll be and when. :cool2:

I'm back from my weekend at D-land and finally getting a chance to catch up. What an amazing time! I was treated like royalty all weekend long...now I have to re-enter reality and go back to my real job. Bummer!
We only live an hour away from DL, so when Sept. gets close we should talk about meeting. I will encourage Mikayla to post something to all the girls on the tween thread. She made the same comment as many of the other girl... "no one is posting!"

I'll see if I can get my DD11 (will be DD12 on the trip) posting on the tweens thread, that might be the easiest thing initially! :thumbsup2

And yes, we have APs for DL, as well as DVC points at The Grand. Let us know if you plan on being at DLR in September, as I think that we are planning a 3-night stay then! Otherwise it is a 3 1/2 hour drive for us, each way! :rotfl:

Hello all. I had a great day at Disneyland, even had dinner at The Blue Bayou. Here are two shots I took. Jeff the first is for you. The second is a Captian EO slide on the screen.

Also I wanted to chime in on the, Should I use DVC for a cruise. Me personaly, I never see us using our points for a cruise. Just not a good vaule for the points in my opinion.

Awwwwwww, you were at D-land? Sorry I missed you. It would have been fun to meet some fellow cruisers.
