Do you remember roughly how much this costs? Is it per piece or what?

I found to what seems to be fairly current pricing. Unfortunately Disboards seems to filter out any use of the URL, so I can't post the direct link. But if you Google
"disney cruise line" laundry price
you'll find it.

It's obviously more expensive than doing it yourself - but then again, I find that for under $10/day/person I can just have it done and not worry about it. For a family with kids that does a lot of laundry, I can see it being prohibitive. But for two? It's on the same order as gratuities or maybe drinks - an affordable luxury.

A colleague of mine just got back from the Transatlantic cruise and she said doing laundry was MISERABLE! She said people would take out your clothes even if still wet to use the dryer and she said it took her one whole at sea day. It sounds like some of you have had a much better experience, so my question would be...was her experience the exception or the norm?

On the longer cruises everybody ends up doing laundry, and there just aren't that many machines. So you can expect long lines at times, and yes - if people don't take their stuff out of a washer or dryiner in a timely manner, I would expect their clothes would be removed and placed in a pile somewhere.

As I recall, sea days were definitely the worst. Late afternoons on port days (hurry and get it done before dinner) were also bad. They were definitely busy evenings and into late night. I don't recall mornings, but I think those were better.

My cabin was pretty close to one of the laundry rooms, so I had numerious opportunities to walk past and feel grateful that I could afford to have DCL do it.

And personally, I had no problem with them doing "unmentionables" - the cabin staff were far too discrete to take any notice, and what the crew laughed about down below doesn't concern me as long as I'm not there to see it :rolleyes1

I don't mind doing laundry. It gives me a chance to talk with the others in the room. My DW enjoys that I like to do the laundry as she enjoys the verandah.

I was on the TA also and if you went to do laundry on a Sea Day or before the Formal Dinners the room was packed with people ironing and washing. The dryers take twice as long as the washers, so what they really need is 2 dryers for every washer. I must say also that there were alot of clothes that went unclaimed.

you two are cute, but I agree, I met so so many nice folks on formal night ironing stuff, but saying that, I wont try doing that again on formal night, I will be more orginized.

You know I never thought of it that way, but I might do that. One question though, does it come folded or hung a hangers? :confused3 Everything we have ever sent has come back on hangers. I would be very humored if it did.

New Question: Many years ago when my daughter was 5 (she is now 12), I took her and my parents to WDW. While at Epcot, my mom had a severe asthma attack and was unable to visit the "worlds" (the only thing she REALLY wanted to do). For her birthday (Jan 4) I want to surprise her and take her to Epcot before we leave on the cruise. Does anyone know if there is a cheaper way to get a one day/one park tickets than through Disney?

Generally not. There are some ticket agencies that offer a small discount, but it is small.

There are places that sell used tickets on the side of the road (and you also see them on ebay) but I wouldn't recommend this route. Tickets are non transferable so Disney can refuse admittance. You don't really know if there are any days left on the ticket - there is no way to tell. I also saw a new report recently that the police are cracking down on places that sell used tickets and arresting the sellers.

The only other thing is timeshare places which offer you tickets in exchange for attending a presentation, but you spend several hours at these presentations and IMHO its not worth the time to do it.

If you are likely to go back, you could buy a longer ticket with an no-expiry option. That way you can use them again on your next trip, but the initial $$ outlay will be much more than buying a day ticket. Generally the more days you buy, the cheaper per day admission is.

Also if you are a FL resident, sometimes there are special ticket offers for FL residents.

Undercovertourist.com and AAA. I have used them both, but it's been a while so I couldnt tell you exactly what the cost was but they were definitely cheaper.

I only have one more suggestion than KayR. If you or someone in your party who will physically be with you at WDW is a member or retired member of the military (any branch) you can check with a Military Base Recreation Center for tickets, they sometimes have them at discount, Or you can go to http://shadesofgreen.org/ and check for tickets there. You can also go to the Shades of Green resort at WDW and get the tickets from them. I don't think you can get them at the gate to WDW anymore, but you could check it out. The active duty or retired military person must be with you and enter the park, they have to show ID before anyone can get in.

I know Shades of Green is Disney, but its hard to find discount tickets for WDW that you can know for sure are valid.

We buy ALL of our tickets at Shades of Green. We usually go down with friends but they also go without us (with tickets we're gotten at SOG - they can't get them on their own). None of us have had to show ID other than to buy the tickets. Ever. We've been doing it for years. And we are DoD employees, not military. Oh and gov't DoD contractors can also buy thestickets at SOG. I think you are thinking of the special military tickets they had one year for $150 for the week for all in the party. Those the military person had to show id, and they could only be military. But to buy tickets at SOG jsut someone in your party has to be affiliated with miitary - as military, civilian, or contractor. So if you are going to do this, dont forget to bring id proving you are one of those or you can't even get on the grounds of SOG (military or DoD civilian or contractor CAC). oh, unless you walk over there. but you still need that for buying the tickets.

Glad you have never had to show ID, we, on the other hand, have had to sometimes, not always, it is hit or miss and we just decided it wasn't worth not having the proper ID with us just in case. We are so used to showing ID that it is second nature to us to have it with us and we sometimes forget that not everyone has to show ID, so thanks for pointing out that in order to get on SOG you have to have proper ID.

Thank you SO much to everyone for all your help. I will check out all of the websites you suggested. My dad is actually retired Navy, so it is all good!
I tried to add some visuals to my signature, so lets see if it works...
(Lynne, you motivated me to add a cute dog picture of my own as your beagle is absolutely adorable!)

Wow!! I'm really suprised! You've actually been asked for ID going into the Parks? I mean ID that you are military? the only people I know ever asked for ID were on the $150 ticket. We've been going on SOG tickets for like 9 of the last 10 years and never been asked. Sorry you have to go through that!

Upload your photos to a site like photobucket. Then, go to User CP, edit signature on the left hand side. Post the img code from photobucket in the signature section. You may need to adjust the size your photos in photobucket prior to uploading them here as there are restrictions on your signature size.

HTH!!!

It's no problem, like I said, showing ID is second nature to us. I will say, it is nice that DCL doesn't ask for it when we check in, but we are always prepared to show it if asked. I'm talking about military ID for the military rates, not ID to get on the ship.

We never had a problem on the Magic with laundry but we had late dinner so we started at 6pm maybe and had all the clothes done by diner. We have had people take out clothes out of the dryer at Pop and on Carnival.

You know, I don't remember. Certainly everything was nicely folded, wrapped on hangers or boxes or something. It was really very luxurious. :rolleyes1

Are you thinking nice clean briefs or not so briefs all hung on individual hangers?????????:rotfl2: There would be more than the crew down below having a good laugh then!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Being a morning person - I'd do my laundry then- with maybe a quick trip to the coffee station while things were washing otherwise I stay with my stuff all the time.
