From WDW to DL With Love - January 06, 2011 part 2

I would LOVE to zip line over the rain forrest.

I am really unsure right now about the excursions. It will just be me and the boys and I am not sure about leaving them in the clubs while I am off the boat. I know that most excursions tend to have a minimum age and that will mean that I probably will not be doing much off the ship.

I would also love to visit DL. I have never been. Again just a little worried about transportation to parks and airport. We would be looking to stay at an off-site hotel and having no experience at all with DL and the area-it makes me nervous.

We like the HoJo Anaheim (Howard Johnson). Its close to the park entrance (not THE closest offsite hotel) but the rooms were nice and spacious and they have a neat small waterpark for those quiet times at the hotel. Some rooms overlook the park (kinda, through tall fir trees). We could see the Matterhorn and fireworks from our window/balcony. Rooms have a microwave and fridge (helps for bringing snacks in) and there is a Mimi's Cafe close by.

I offered to give up cooking for Lent. You can guess how that went over with DH!

The idea of giving up some extra lbs sounds good - maybe I'll start with 10 lbs. Walking is good exercise - we did a 5K on Super Bowl Sunday and I practiced at Disneyland this past weekend. We have an 8K on Saturday. Gotta get in shape for the Royal Family 5K at WDW on 3/6. AuntLynne will be also be walking that morning.

Yes, walking will definitely help the 'giving up':rotfl: I'm getting ready for 72 hour sprint thru WDW at spring break!

Hello Everyone!

This morning I changed our January Mexican Riviera to the Panama Canal cruise for my DH Dick and myself, Barb.

We have been fortunate to have taken 10 DCL cruises with our family...sons Mike and Steven...and this will be our celebration cruise as empty nesters next year!

I found the web site for our cruise but did not see how to add our information to the traveling list. Could someone please advise me. We always enjoy the DIS board group activities.

We live in Iowa and it's been a cold, snowy, worst then usual winter. I'm soooo glad I got "cruise distracted" yesterday and came up with the idea of changing to this cruise!

Looking forward to getting to know you! :thumbsup2

Morning everyone...or should I say afternoon ;)

So I am up for the zipline and my husband will join me. He is also really interested in the white water rafting someone mentioned earlier. He wanted to know if anyone knew what class the rapids were because he is used to class 4 and 5 rapids (the hard ones I guess). He is an adrenaline junkie, wish he would rub off on me!

We are also planning on a few days at DL and general sightseeing in the area since I have never been to California  Any help in planning for that would be great!

Cheerio,

Holly

Feel free to join us on the Weight Loss group for the cruise :) We are all really supportive over there! Even though it's onbly 10lbs it can come off (and stay off) a lot easier if you have the help of friends! :grouphug:

Welcome barb! :wave2:

Sounds like you are a DCL veteran, we are always glad to have experienced cruisers!

My parents have been empty nesters for 5 years and they love vacationing alone :)

As for the cruise website, you have to contact tigfanjeff and he will put your info on the website, just send him a PM.

Welcome again!

Holly

I would love to know more about the white water rafting too! Does anyone else have more information about which port has it, or any other details?

I would be happy to help you with any Disneyland planning. Also, if anyone plans on going to San Diego after the cruise, I would be happy to help out with advice or planning for that too since I lived there for a few years.

:rotfl2::rotfl2:I should post my good mornings prior to US Central bedtime for you!! Then again, it's closer to 5 o'clock for you than me:banana::banana:
Who cares:goodvibesits just nice to be nice, right!

Hi Dick and Barb:cheer2:

Welcome to our new cruisers. To give another persepctive on the size of Disneyland, only the park not incuding DCA or DTD, before they added Toontown the park itself could fit into World Showcase Lagoon. Personly I live the fact my Magic Kingdom is so tiny. It make me apprcate the job WDI has. You know Disneyland Park has more rides than it's counterpart in FL, but it is only half the size of the Magic Kingdom.

Funny how the world works. As of this typing you are getting ready to go to bed and, I don't have to becat work for two more hours.

I really did love Disneyland (the orginal, DCA, not so much). But I totally disagreed with Walt about the castle. Everytime I see it I keep thinking it looks like they ran out of money building it so they shrunk it.
Now the castle at Paris puts all the rest to shame!

I love our castle. I think the size really comes into play because the Matterhorn (First Disney Roller Coaster) is right next to it. As for DCA, I think this will the the best domestic park when they are done fixing it. I agree, when DCA opened it was, oh how to put it nice, underwellming.
