Yes! I'm going to Disneyland!:thumbsup2

Happy Day, all!
I'm going to Disneyland too! I'm really looking forward to experiencing some of the new stuff at California Adventure--I was just there in November 2009 and they had all sorts of previews of what was coming, and it sounds great! I just love DLR...I miss when I only lived an hour and a half away from it and could drive up there all the time!

I love the cruises with the extra hours!!!!!!

Especially when we don't have to give them back! But, I guess I have to give mine back when I get home...

No post plans here -as yet anyway. Much will depend on our airline choice and their flight choices during the day. Anyone remember from a previous trip what time suggest we can book? I feel like we arrive later than we do when coming into Florida so any suggestions would be great. But, if I opt for a red eye, it won't matter. I really don't want to do that but may, we shall see. I will be all messed up timewise.

:cool1:Good Morning Everyone:cool1:

:dance3:Happy Mardi Gras:dance3:

You beat me to it! We lived in the NEw Orleans area for a few years and LOVED Mardi Gras! We had a lot of parades in the town I lived in and then we would drive into NO for Mardi Gras weekend and hang out on St. Charles and watch the parades. When we first moved there I thought no way I would take my kids to NO for Mardi Gras but after talking to many other families, I discovered that there are some areas that are VERY family friendly. St Charles was one of those. We never saw anything out of line and had SO much fun. Other than my friends, that is what I miss most about NO.

Well, I just started the DCL planning video for a second time at the request of DS! He asked to watch it after breakfast and he just asked me to restart it! He also asked me earlier this morning "Why mommy can't we go on the Mickey Boat now?"

Yesterday, he was taking one of his very seldom naps. Well, he had an accident while he was sleeping and his only concern "Mommy, will they still let me on the Mickey Wonder Boat?" I guess because when we were potty training him last summer we told him that he had to potty like a big boy if he wanted to go in the kid's club". DH and I both reassured him that he could go on the Mickey Boat. I felt so sorry for him.

Here is our situation...

10/10/10...7 nt Eastern on the Freedom
Flying from LA or PHX or possibly Vegas to MCO, kind of depends on where the rest of the family is flying from.
Avis car rental one way MCO to Port Canaveral
Now I know we would need medical and maybe cruise interuption/cancelation, but I wouldn't think that the air or car would need anything. From where we are flying there shouldn't be any delays, right???

And then there is our January trip with all of you guys with similar details. What do you all think? TIA

If your air / car rental is fully refundable then you probably don't need to insure it.

Think of the "what if's" which is what trip insurance is about. What kind of risk are you willing to take if something happens.

What if someone in your group gets sick on the trip and you have to evac them to a local hospital. What happens then with your air fare? The cost of staying in a local hotel, the cost of getting back home.

What if a major delay on your inbound trip causes you to miss the ship?

What if you fall ill just before your trip and are unable to travel?

Check with your preferred insurer - if you don't include the cost of flights in your trip insurance, how would that affect the any claim you might have (would you effectively be under insured as you didn't include the cost of flights)

I don't get trip insurance for our regular trips to FL, but I do for the cruises.

-Kay

I am interested in doing a zip line excursion on this cruise- can anyone tell me what ports this is offered at based on prior experience? Is it a better experience at one port vs. another?

Hi all! Wow! I sure have a lot of reading to do---seeing as I haven't been here since 1/9/10.

I enjoyed my birthday trip to London---rainy, cold but lots of fun! My husband met Stephen Fry! in our wonderful hotel lobby---Hazlitts in Soho---I was busy taking pictures of the rooms---sigh. Chelsea FC won 7-2. I had predicted 7-0! We met a lot of UK Disney fans in passing---they were really taken by my Disney Visa card---kept using it everywhere so I'll have lots of reward dollars in time for my first trip to Disneyland post-PC cruise:)

I totally missed the 4 feet of snow we got here in MD! I LOVE snow but I was stuck in Milwaukee---where it snowed 10 inches while I was there. I flew out of BWI the Friday it started snowing and I returned last Friday. I went out there to support a friend whose husband died suddenly of an enlarged heart---he was 38 and she is only 29. Truly a sad and devestating event:sad1: They just moved to the DC area last May for her dream job at the National Archives. She is taking some time off to be at home in WI but she says she'll return here---she has a wonderful lab puppy for comfort and she will find a lot of support from her Archives friends.

Now I can turn my attention to further planning for this cruise----I'll be looking for some historical documents about the building of the canal so I could include copies in my FE gift bags---does this sound like a good idea or would you all be bored?

Have a pleasant day!

I think it was after 12:00 noon. Remember, here in L.A. customs is really a big deal. After the 08 repo. we were given a color to get off the ship. Some if it was basied on flight time. They would call off the colors and let you off. DCL cast members were not leting you off the ship until your color was called. Then you had to wait in line off the ship for costoms. It is really a far differant experance than what you maybe used to at PC. Plan accordingly.

I'm off to a big Shrove Tuesday dinner (Cajun gumbo & Pancakes) that is New Orleans' themed Mardi Gras...must do all that eating & imbibing tonight as tomorrow begins my 40 day "fast" for Lent!:scared1: I told DD that I was 'giving up' 20 lbs for Lent...does anyone want it???:confused3 (sigh) I guess I'll have to actually put on the shoes & do the walking:lmao::yay:

After the Katrina, we had several families join our school/church during the exodus and last year we were able to make a Mardi Gras weekend with one of the families that has returned to New Orleans, oh what fun it was and truly a whole family experience -- yes, we only went to the St. Charles area :3dglasses -- but it was a great time with our friends:dance3:

That disembarkation really was not a good experience in LA after the '08 Repo. The whole ship seemed to be full of people hanging around waiting, then when you were eventually called to desembark the line was terrible and so slow. I'm not looking forward to that again.

Did they still make you get up for early assigned breakfasts or were the breakfasts later on or more open? If the breakfasts were early what did everyone do until your color was called, just wait in the public areas or could you go back to your rooms?

I will say it was way better than the 05 repo. Yes it will be a long prosses. Nothing like PC. Of course I am amazaed at PC how ot looks like they don't even care.

I just wanted to give those of you going to DL after the cruise a heads up. This is the time of year when they do a lot of rehab work at DL. So just be ready for a lot of attractions closed and a lot of rehab walls up.

You could not go back to your room so the public areas were very crowded. Just be ready.

I think the breakfasts were earlyish. We were late dining, so later breakfast, but we still had to wait around, sitting on the floor in the hallways etc. I can't remember going back to our room, but that could be because we were a later breakfast.

I was surprised how different everything was getting off in LA to PC as I thought Customs and Immigration would be the same everywhere.

Thanks SO much for your input. Guess we may be staying another day or taking a red eye. Flights seem to be either really early, a few sprinkled in around noon and then the late ones.

That is so funny cause I was taken by how different PC was. My first DCL was the 05 repo. Living in L.A. I knew what was coming when it came time to get off the ship. In 06 when we took the 11 night on the Wonder, that was my first time getting off the ship in PC. I swear the customs guy never looked at my form or my passport for that matter.
