First of all, sorry to hear about your accident Jen and happy you are ok.

I just booked our flight back from LAX after cruise and need help with hotel to stay in. Raddison has one in Culver City that is close to airport and provides free shuttle. Anyone know anything about it, or have a better recommendation?:confused3 We are staying a couple of days in LA, hoping to see family in San Diego and getting in one day at DL:cheer2: Any help would be appreciated.

Culver City would not be my first choice in So Cal. There are so many really pretty places to stay, I would look around a little more and ask what are your priorities in a hotel in So Cal? Do you want to be near DL? Shopping? Do you want to stay off the freeways?

I don't think I've ever seen our thread this quiet for this long!

 Hey Guys

 Yay, it's nearly the weekend

What are your plans ? Are you doing anything fun ?

Me and hubby are meeting up with some Disney friends this weekend. We're going to have a wander around the shops, a nice meal and a couple of TGI Friday's cocktails

Have a great weekend everyone, whatever you're up to :)

That sounds like fun!
We are going to DL today! Not sure what we are doing for the rest of the weekend!
Have a great time!

Hey all - checking in!

Sunshine finally!!:cool1:

I forgot to quote it but for the family who wants snow close to DL - Mtn High in Wrightwood would be closer than Big Bear - though not as pretty - probably 2 hours from DL - in the high desert and the roads are not quite as windy and long as the trip up to Arrowhead or Big Bear areas if car sickness is an issue.

I have to agree with the recommendation to do SD - so beautiful down there.

Waiting for SWA to release Jan flights - Alan - can you make them hurry - or perhaps just get them to let us book now??

Staying at the port the night before - may try to get the group to go a day early and do the Space Center. But then we would have to rent a car, which we were not intending to do. ??

Have a great weekend everyone!

Thanks for the info. After reading what you had to say, I checked on Fairfield Inn at DL, very reasonable. Looks like we can take train from Anaheim to SD Old Town and back (to visit family) and stay close to DL (to enjoy Downtown Disney and Park). We really don't want to rent a car unless absolutely necessary.

Anything anyone else has to add would be greatly appreciated. We are familiar with SD area, but have never ventured past Carlsbad.

I am in love with San Diego, we got married at the hotel del Coronado and I enthusiastically recommend their Sunday brunch, most especially for someone trying to hold off post cruise psychosis during the transition back to real life.

Do you have little ones with you?

Well all I know is that on 3/23 we open thru 10/30. So the next opening should cover the cruise. One reason we wait, is so that we really do not need to change flight times on people like some other airlines (Air Tran) does. I know it does happen but not often. So sit back and I will give the heads up on 3/23

I love the Hotel Del! I went there for dinner for special occasions a lot while I lived in SD from 2004-2007, and my family and I stayed there for my graduation weekend in 2007 too. It is such a beautiful property, I highly recommend eating on the outside patio of Sheerwater on a beautiful warm day (probably not in January when we'll be there, they will have the covered patio open but the best part is the lower open area next to the big fireplaces).

I lived in La Jolla actually, which is a wonderful area just north of SD, and those of you who have lived there or been there know why its called the jewel of san diego, because it is so breathtaking with views over the pacific, shopping, and dining. Katherine already asked above, and I'd ask the same thing--if you have little ones, La Jolla wouldn't be the place to go, but for anyone going with just adults, La Jolla is amazing and should not be missed if you are going to the SD area. If anyone decides to go, I can recommend several great restaurants with amazing food and breathtaking ocean views!

Aw...now you have me daydreaming of going back to the Hotel Del and visiting my friend that lives in Santee. :cloud9:

No little ones on the cruise with us, just the two of us this time.

Love, love, love Hotel del. Sunday brunch there is a possibility, family lives on Coronado. I hadn't considered the easing back into real life, but that would definitely help ease the pain. Thanks for the idea!

La Jolla is fantastic. the views, the food, the window shopping and don't forget the harbor seals, but then that leads me to Torrey Pines, which is also fantastic, so see why we have never made it to LA on our visits to SD.

Glad we have a few months to narrow down the after cruise part, I'm going to need it.

Now, we're all California Dreaming, on a winter's day :)
I agree. There were snowflakes again on my way into work this morning. Nothing accumulating or anything like the recent disrupting snow we've been having, but still just enough of an annoying sight for me to question, why on earth am I living in NJ right now instead of someplace warm and sunny...I miss when I used to be able to lay out by the pool in my apartment complex in the middle of January, just a few years ago...wishful thinking ;

I am waiting too. :tigger: I wish I could say patiently:rotfl2:

In the meantime I am trying to decide how big an FE to make or buy. 2 pocket or 3. I have never participated in the FE before. For this trip it is just DH and I, but on other trips DD goes with us. So what do you guys think - two pockets or three or something totally different.

3 sounds like a good number

Hi everyone,

Sorry to be gone so long..lots has been going on...a death in my husband's family, Girl Scout cookie season (which I am the chair for our area) and to be honest...lots of medical bills have caught up with us and we had to make a decision on whether to cancel this cruise or our cruise to Alaska also coming up.

I know for some it would be a no-brainer but we were trying to weigh the options ... we have family we havent seen in a long time in Washington that was supposed to tie into the trip as well as other things...but this cruise won out (to be honest...it wasn't a super difficult decision but still..I have been waiting to do Alaska for 5 years).

Anyways..cookie season is still going but ends in 2 weeks and I hopefully can be around more...

Everyone have a great weekend!

Oh wow, Des...

So sorry about everything that has been going on...

What a tough decision on the cruise!!! Well, we are glad that you chose to stay with the PC cruise.

Well on my previous cruise, everyone seemed to have four (or even five) pockets.

We had two big deep pockets and it was perfect. Things didn't poke out of the pockets so we didn't attract any sticker-fingered passerbyers, and there was no problem fitting things in.

Some FEs were by contrast a pain in the neck to try and even balance the objects into, especially if they hadn't been cleared in a while. The pockets were just too shallow and too small. So I say two pockets, but maybe three is a good compromise? ;)

So excited about SW and this will be our first flight out of our new airport. We are going to Disney in Oct for 3 nights before our Carnival Dream cruise. We are going to stay at Residence Inn this time. Radison did have a Space Center Deal when we were there in Jan.

What a time you seem to be having AND what a hard choice. We thought about the Alaska cruise as well but decided the ports DCL were offering were not for us.
