I just joined Skype by request of my family. Does anyone know if skype works on board or do you need to be connected to a phone line, or dsl line or something like that?

We are going back to the world in Oct for 3 nights before our Carnival Dream cruise! We are hoping to try to stay at the WLV

I had heard on the Dis (but not tested) that skype was blocked from being used on board. Because we haven't tried it, I don't know how true that statement was.

If skype worked, it would be cheaper to pay for internet time than phone time. However we found on our first cruise, the internet was soooo slow and skype would certainly be a pain with a slow connection. Last time, it was better, but obviously not as good as the high speed we have at home (even with high speed at home, skype has delays).

We like WVL, but really have found the rooms to be small. Very homey, but crowed

I could be wrong, but the bandwith Skype would require, would make the ships slow net even slower if people were on it.

That would be my thought too. A bunch of free wifi places, as well as public pay wifi (airports and what not) are starting to block bandwith suckers. Tampa International has gone that route recently. Skype is a huge bandwith hog. And since sattelite internet is already a bit sketchy, anything that clogs it up is most likely going to be banned.

Wow I was right for once. Cool.

Morning all!

I guess we might be seeing several of you on the shuttle from POR/POFQ to the port. :cool1:

I just went on my DCL reservation and you can arrange a "character call" with Mickey, Goofy or Ariel. There is a pulldown where you indicate what cruise you are on (I was worried PC wouldn't be on there but it was!). I have it going to DH's phone on Saturday (shhhhhh .... he doesn't check this thread much).

Well I won't be on the shuttle to the port, we always rent a car because I like to drive myself and have the flexibility to stop at load up on goodies at Publix and ABC Liquor, but if we do decide to stay at POR/POFQ, we'll try to get in touch there!

Also, is that your own wedding cake topper in your picture? I love it! A Cinderella themed wedding in WDW is my fantasy!

Yup!

You should have seen us at the store in Disneyland! We had 15 toppers lined up and we examined each one. We were married at my synagogue, but we had Disney touches throughout (I walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of "feed the birds.") :bride:

HOW COOL IS THAT?! WOOooo.

Alan, so sorry you didn't have better weather! IT has certainly been a wretched winter on the east coast.

C'mon SPRING!

Well still, it beats being at work. At Welcome Home Wendsday. God this Dee Vee Cee chick should be gaged. She is very anoying.

That is amazing, it sounds like it was beautiful. I want my wedding song to be "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes" because that is my favorite, but I will also want lots of other Disney music throughout the reception because I am a huge fan of the theme park soundtracks--my favorite tracks are from the Fireworks and parades. Songs like "We Go On", "Promise", "Remember When" etc would be great slow songs for a wedding. I also want my dress to look like Cinderellas, and I'll of course have the horse drawn carriage. I saw a couple in one going around the Boardwalk last year on the way to the Yacht Club wedding pavilion and I wanted to melt, it was so amazing! I have all my Disney Wedding dream plans set. Did I mention I don't even have a boyfriend though? Ah, wishful thinking :wizard:

If we ever renew our vows, I want the Disney touches throughout. I wasn't into Disney when we got married. Not because I didn't like it, I just hadn't been introduced yet to the Wonderful World of Disney.
I used to say that I wanted DD to get married at Disney World and she agreed. However, now I'm thinking Castaway Cay! Not anytime soon though, we have a good ten years or more :goodvibes

Is everyone alright? We were half way down page 2. Now I have to pack.

We would have loved to have our wedding at WDW, but DH's family just doesn't get IT. So instead we infused our day with lots of Disney touches. The wedding party entered to "When you wish upon a star", DH walked in to "Beauty and the beast", and I walked down the aisle to "So this is love." Our first dance was to "Promise." And the place cards/menu/favors were CD cases with Cinderella slippers on top.

Well just about done packing, looks like we are going to do a 7:30 A.M. wake up call to we can have breakfast in the lounge. looks like there will be no adventure flying stand by home, the flights are wide open.

We were the same, we hadn't been introduced to Disney when we got married, and if we ever renew our wedding vows, then it will be on one of the Disney ships. I'm hoping that we'll renew our vows for our 25th anniversary in a couple of years ::yes::

I hope you all have a lovely day :)

Thanks for heads up about WLV still 2 weeks to go before I make my choice. But there is just 2 of us. Oh I might have to embarass my husband with the character call. He hates his phone as it used to be mine and has Mickey saying " in comming call"!

Can you only do the character call once? I will definately have Mickey call my DH but probably this summer, which is when I want to make final payment (you know hint, hint nudge nudge). I hope they still offer it then.

June seems like it is forever away, but next January seems like just around the corner.
