Good Morning, everybody!

Lynne, are you sure that beagle isn't a cat in dog's clothing? He sure is in many catlike positions (in the window)

Maybe it's the breed, but every beagle I've ever had is like that. We had one beagle who would lay on the back of the couch (the top of the back rest) like a cat.

Good Morning, more like a flippin mountain goat.

I think some are worse than others, Ruby doesnt,he does the sofa thing though, straddles the back of the sofa, he is a pain sometimes.

Good Morning everyone!

I'm allergic to cats- but have had dogs all my life- until our Rowdy died several years ago- now we want to be able to go on trips like this one without worrying about anything. The kids are all grown (baby will be a senior in college by the time of this trip) and with no pets- someday I'm going to pick up and go on one of DH's business trips with him.

I never really planned on having pets, but her mother just jumped into our car one day and so we had to take her home. I don't have a photo of her mother uploaded, but they look nothing alike. Orange Cat, Jr. is a Hemingway cat and she takes after her father (hence the name).

Today, I switched shifts with a girl at work, so I am trying to stay up so I can work later and then do my regular shift right after. :sad1: But, I have needed to switch before, and she helped me out, so I don't mind.

I just checked the DCL website to see if any information has come out, but there was nothing. I don't think I can wait until summer.

Have a good day everyone!

Pets all all lovely, esp moab:love:

I say it all the time, cats choose us, not the other way around.

Good luck at work disney cruiser, thats the trouble with swapping, you always feel obliged to swap back!

Good Morning! Apologies in advance, I wrote a chapter...popcorn::

Completely understand...we had 2 Border Collies prior to these sisters, as my DH has had only Border Collies (he's of Scottish descent, so must have Scottish pups...same goes for choice of alcohol ;)). Our first pup was Kate, she joined our family shortly after we married -- she used to bring the garden hose through her doggie door into the house -- and since she survived our parenting, we decided we could have kids:rotfl:. When DD was 2YO we added Kirby for my DH's birthday and went through the puppy phase, again:confused3. Sadly, Kate passed away during the Christmas season of DD's Kindergarten Year at age 9 and Kirby left us suddenly 3 years later. After that we agreed to take an animal break (raised and released DD's frog project), sold the house with the Kate:littleangel:/Kirby:littleangel: memories and moved 'into town' to a place with nearly zero yard - something we would never if our family included furry friends! We love the house -- 25 miles closer to school, work & church; has a pool (it IS the backyard) and a beautiful layout -- but without pups, it wasn't home:confused:. Unknowingly to each other, DH & I were websurfing the same classified ads, just looking:surfweb: when we both found posting for Katie & Keelie:surfweb: - yes, that was an interesting discussion, but it was meant to be...I emailed the person who placed the ad, heard back from her that she only had 2 females left from the litter and as we exchanged messages, she recognized me (I have a highly unusual first name) and asked if I was the same person who adopted from her 1st litter of Border Collies - the one we named Kirby? It turns out that Katie & Keelie's mother was a littermate of our Kirby, so our girls are the nieces of our previous pup! Karma & the Universe:hippie: Obviously we got them, but we turned it into a surprise for DD...who we had told 'no dogs in the city house' over and over...the look on her face was priceless as she returned from a summer trip to find 2 pups waiting:cool1: just for her. We decided that we couldn't separate them:hug: :grouphug:and rationalized that raising 2 was the same effort as 1:teacher:, and they would have someone to keep them occupied (Border Collies need to work:laundy:). Now the girls are approaching 4YO and have us well-trained:dance3:, and our only wish is for a bit more of a yard but not at the in-town price of land!:scared1: We have a good kennel where the girls are loved:love:, just not sure I want them there for the duration. My DM is nearby, with her own 2 yappers, so I may need to workout a deal :worship:with her for part of the time. THE ENDpopcorn::

DCL_FAN_TAC and Lynne, beautiful dogs!

Thanks! I showed DD the thread last night, as we were talking animals:thumbsup2. At her school, the 8th Grade does a Spring Musical (think HS Musical, but our director is a :confused3man) Production...this year's performance is CINDERELLA (not Disney version, no mice:confused:). DD loved your Cinder Ellie dox:banana::banana:, she thought it was a perfect pup name:love::love:.

Beautiful creatures, all of them!
Good luck keeping alert:surfweb::surfweb:
:yay:Soon on the DCL website, soon...it's almost March:yay:

Great animal pics everyone!! I love animals - most all - except snakes - but then they are reptiles.....bleck.

Well I'm going to sound like the meanie pet owner as mine are outside. We currently have 4 barn cats, one yellow lab and one border collie/brittany spaniel mix. Of course the border collie mix rules the roost. We usually don't get too attached to the cats as we loose too many to coyotes, but this group has been around for several years so they must be the smart ones.

My allergies are too bad to have them inside all the time, but we cheat once in a while and let the dogs in. We're lucky to have our DS & DDIL stay at our house while we're away.

When our kids where younger we also raised hamp & duroc pigs for 4-H and FFA projects, at one point we had around 30 pigs. One duroc sow grew to be 850#.

ACDSNY - we need to hang out! We live on a cattle ranch in Central CA - our dog - a Queensland Heeler is an outside dog who only comes in when its too hot or too cold or there are workmen out there she is bothering. Our cats come and go but are usually in at night to avoid the coyotes. We currently have a 4H project pig - a hamp. She only weighs about 120# though!! We have a horse (well the ranch has 5 - we have 1) and too many cows to worry about!

And DisneyCruiser - I agree - POST THE INFO ALREADY!!;)

I'm just loving all the pictures of everyone's furry family members!

DD loved your Cinder Ellie dox:banana::banana:, she thought it was a perfect pup name:love::love:.

Thank you. The Humane Society had named her Cinder because of her color. Cinderella is not one of my favorite movies but I do think it's cute how the mice call her Cinderellie. So, that is how we got Cinder Ellie. We call her our little princess and even bought her a collar at WDW that is pink with crowns and Mickey heads on it. I'm crazy about that little dog

Sorry to all the non-pet lovers that we've highjacked this thread. :goodvibes
I can totally understand that some people think they are too much work. But they got me through years of infertility and were my babies until we adopted DD (well, they still are my babies, but you know what I mean ;))

Here are my pups.
busterPenny.jpg

The both have papers that they are full breed mini-doxy, but I swear the older one has beagle in her (the tan one). Her face looks just like a beagle, she weighs over 20lbs and loves to lay on the top back of the couch. :)

I also understand how many people do not want kids. We are all different and enjoy different things. But, me, I was born to be a Mom. I love children and my heart melts everytime DD calls me Momma and says "I love you" and kisses and hugs me. And seeing her laugh and play makes me the happiest I've ever been. I was 34 when we adopted DD so I had lots of time to go out partying and enjoy adult vacations. Now, it's all about her and I couldn't be happier. I really do not miss the adult only times (well, maybe Serenity Bay :rotfl2:) But, if you are not that type of person, then you should definitely not have kids. We have friends that don't want children and I'm amazed at how many people will ask if they have children and when they say "no" they will ask why not? That used to bug me when we were trying too. I feel like saying, "it none of your business!" Just because you are married does not mean you want or are able to have children.

On a side note, my husband just called me and said "A guy at work was just looking at the DCL website and said that FL resident rates are out". So, there will be no surprise. I went ahead and told him "Yah, I know, we are booked for your birthday weekend. Happy Birthday!" :cool1: With his work schedule I probably wouldn't have been able to keep it a surprise anyway. He was to work Saturdays sometimes and they are always changing that schedule. Surprises can be too stressfull sometimes. Oh well, he's super excited anyway and said I just made his day. :goodvibes And now he has 2 months to look forward to it.

Sorry for the long post. I'm making the most of my break from work today.

Debating or even just discussions are the meat of life. You learn so much by finding out what others believe and feel.
I hear you about the kid thing. I love our son. Jack means the world to us. But I use to get excited over great bottles of wine and a great meal (well I still do, but occassions are few and rare), now I get excited over sales on diapers (btw, there's a great deal on Pampers at Target this week - Jeff -who never calls me at work - called to tell me about it today). They do suck the life out of you (I've been known to call Jack a parasite) but the rewards make it worth it. It's very similar to dogs. A lot of work, but so awesome in the end. But you have to be the right kind of person for either.
By the way, we will be at Epcot Sunday. We have a 3:10 ADR for Moracco with TDC Nala. If anyone is around at Epcot that day, let me know.

Technically, kids are parasites...for the first 9 months:rotfl2:

If they offer the Castaway Cay 5K run on our trip, how many of you are thinking of doing it? I'd like to try it (assuming they offer it), and I was just wondering who else might be interested.

(5K is 3.1 miles, to us yanks!)

I've only really been into fitness since our last cruise (July 7-night western), but I now really enjoy being active, and I thought that a run around CC early in the morning would be awesome!

Any takers?
