Good Morning everyone!
I'm allergic to cats- but have had dogs all my life- until our Rowdy died several years ago- now we want to be able to go on trips like this one without worrying about anything. The kids are all grown (baby will be a senior in college by the time of this trip) and with no pets- someday I'm going to pick up and go on one of DH's business trips with him.
Good Morning! Apologies in advance, I wrote a chapter...
Completely understand...we had 2 Border Collies prior to these sisters, as my DH has had only Border Collies (he's of Scottish descent, so must have Scottish pups...same goes for choice of alcohol

). Our first pup was Kate, she joined our family shortly after we married -- she used to bring the garden hose through her doggie door into the house -- and since she survived our parenting, we decided we could have kids

. When DD was 2YO we added Kirby for my DH's birthday and went through the puppy phase, again

. Sadly, Kate passed away during the Christmas season of DD's Kindergarten Year at age 9 and Kirby left us suddenly 3 years later. After that we agreed to take an animal break (raised and released DD's frog project), sold the house with the Kate

/Kirby

memories and moved 'into town' to a place with nearly zero yard - something we would never if our family included furry friends! We love the house -- 25 miles closer to school, work & church; has a pool (it IS the backyard) and a beautiful layout -- but without pups, it wasn't home

. Unknowingly to each other, DH & I were websurfing the same classified ads, just looking

when we both found posting for Katie & Keelie

- yes, that was an interesting discussion, but it was meant to be...I emailed the person who placed the ad, heard back from her that she only had 2 females left from the litter and as we exchanged messages, she recognized me (I have a highly unusual first name) and asked if I was the same person who adopted from her 1st litter of Border Collies - the one we named Kirby? It turns out that Katie & Keelie's mother was a littermate of our Kirby, so our girls are the nieces of our previous pup! Karma & the Universe

Obviously we got them, but we turned it into a surprise for DD...who we had told 'no dogs in the city house' over and over...the look on her face was priceless as she returned from a summer trip to find 2 pups waiting

just for her. We decided that we couldn't separate them

and rationalized that raising 2 was the same effort as 1

, and they would have someone to keep them occupied (Border Collies need to work

). Now the girls are approaching 4YO and have us well-trained

, and our only wish is for a bit more of a yard but not at the in-town price of land!

We have a good kennel where the girls are loved

, just not sure I want them there for the duration. My DM is nearby, with her own 2 yappers, so I may need to workout a deal

with her for part of the time. THE END
