FOR the cabanas? hmm, havent' seen too much of that. i'm with you. but DH really could use a place where there's no chance of sun reflection etc, but NOT for that amount of money!! he really really needs to be away from it. but not this time! (or maybe ever!)

The only argument for the cabanas would be because a person wants one and can/willing to spend the money and that really is enough of a reason really... but I completely understand that $500.00 in a huge amount of money for less then 8 hours really. My DD earned a $400.00 Disney GC for selling Girl Scout cookies and originally she wanted to use some of it for a cabana if we could get one (that's when I was hoping for the $200.00 or so...had to break the bad news to her :lmao:...hmmm..I wonder if there is a CM discount.. :rotfl2:

That's a really good point. I would think on our cruise there very well maybe a CM discount just to get things sold....

However, if it is what somebody wants (and you know they will fill up) I sincerely hope they have a wonderful time! People see different things as worth thier money and I completely understand...we are splurging on the 2 night cruise on our cabin which some I know see as silly but you earn the money..you deserve to spend it how you see fit! I would never tell anyone otherwise....
No doubt they will sell, and I totally agree, people can spend there money on EXACTLY what they want to trust me you are preaching to the converted!!!
YA-HOOO!!! :cool1: I called in every day like a good and responsible citizen and I never had to report for jury duty!!!! I just called for the final time and my "jury service has been fulfilled"--I will say it again...YA-HOO!!! :woohoo:
Although losing money because of these furlough days is a bummer, I have to admit that having a 5-day weekend this weekend is pretty cool. Now that I am free, I think I'm going to paint my kitchen!!
well done, painting the kitchen

Thats a shame, hope she can think of something else.

I don't think it's silly and I completely agree.

And you will be having the last laugh as you wave to all of us that are being dragged off the ship kicking and screaming the last morning of this cruise. :lmao:

I don't know... While it's true, on most cruises I do have to be dragged off kicking and screaming, my experience with the last PC cruise was that after 15 nights, I was ready to come home. :cool2:

I just hope I have enough energy for DLR after the cruise! Right now I'm debating if we should do 2 nights or 3 nights there. I know we talked about this awhile back, but I cant remember the answer (or what people think is likely)- what time do you think we'll be off the ship in LA? This affects my decision on 2 or 3 nights, but most likely I'm doing 3 because I think the debarkation will be long and busy, getting the rental car, checking in to hotel- I dont think I'll want to do any parks that day. Are Saturdays really busy at DL in January? Meaning, will I have a hard time doing both parks in one Saturday? What do you So Cal people think?

I can't imagine us getting off the ship any later than 10:00 and if you have first seating for dinner it would be even earlier. Last time we docked out of San Pedro it was pretty quick. So...I would think you should be done with everything and checked into your hotel by 1 at the latest. As far as DL on a Saturday, strangely enough, it is less crowded than on Sunday. Most So. Cal peeps have either a So. Cal season pass or a delux. Neither of which allows you to go to the park on Saturday (unless you pay extra). California Adventure is much quieter than D-Land, so you could go there later on Friday and then spend all day Saturday at D-Land (especially if you are staying at DGC). But, to do both parks in one day?? You will want to see the new show "World of Color" at DCA and probably the fireworks show at DL so that may be hard to do in one day. As far as going on the rides, it depends on how many you plan on trying. Hope this helps...

Not me...Kicking, screaming, clawing the railing--I see it all in my future:lmao:...I'm still trying to come up with a way to stay the two extra nights!

Thanks for the help! Is the World of Color Show at DCA something that is only going to be on Fri/Sat nights like the fireworks are? that might play into my decision. It is definitely something I want to see.

If you can do 3 nights, you might want to do 3. That way you don't feel rushed.
According to the itinerary, we are not going to arrived in San Pedro until 9:30, which is much later than usual. So if that is the case, I can't imagine getting off the ship before 11. And with it being the Wonder's first time there, and it being more permanent, there might be news crews and other people there to welcome her.

First off I think everyone will be off the ship by 9:30 here in L.A. In '05 we had all the news and stuff as it was DCL first time on the west coast and I was off the ship by 9:30 because I did not have a flight home. Second remember for those going to DL. It is the time of year that most of the rehab work is done. So there is a good chance a lot of attractions maybe down. Also remember that in 2011 even more construction will be going on at DCA than right now. You might be using a makeshift enterance and exit as the main gate is suposed to be torn down right after the summer season ends this year. As for World of Color. They have no clue what they are doing. It opens two weeks from today and as of yeserday show times were not up. I think it is safe to say that it will be going at least Friday and Sat nights. Also their maybe no fireworks. I think in Jan this year they only did then on MLK weekend.

Just curious how do you think everyone will be off by 9:30 if the PP said it shows we arent arriving until 9:30? I would think 11 at the earliest if we dont dock til 9:30?

Disneyland is usually pretty good about not having a lot of attractions under refurbishment at one time, even during the off season. So, that being said, I think there will be a few closed, but not a lot.

To get an idea of what to expect for CA, here is a good link to follow the construction going on.

I agree, when I lived in SoCal I went to DLR a lot in off season times and dont remember ever having so much stuff down that it put a downer on my visit- usually one or two big things at most. I'll keep my fingers crossed to enjoy whatever there is at the time. I always make 2 sets of dinner ressies anyway, one for an early time if there are fireworks or a show like WOC, and one set for later when I prefer to eat if there are no fireworks, so I'll be prepared either way.

PS- Thanks for the link, very informative! I'm sure it will be even more useful as we get closer to January.

It took ages to get off the ship in 2008. We were waiting in the hallways after breakfast to be called. Eventually it happened, but the lines to get off were terrible. We arrived earlier that time as we had 2 sea days up from Cabo, whereas we only have one this time.

I am trying to figure out when to book a flight home. I know I have some time but I am watching. Right now United is the only one that has direct flights. I know Southwest will as well later. Anyway, I am torn between the 11:25 flight or the 6:25 flight. Hopefully SW has better options.

The itinerary on the website says "ashore" at 9:30am. I would think that means it's the earliest we would get off the ship, not when we arrive.

I agree, after 15 days I'll be ready for solid ground under my feet and a more comfortable bed.

We'll only be staying at DL for 2 nights as we have to be back at work on 1/24. If I could I'd stay 3 or 4 nights.

I think I will be sad to get off:sad1:
Me too. I already know 14 nights was not longer enough. I don't think one more night will make a difference. I would be willing to find out exactly how many days it takes to make me want to get off the ship. :goodvibes

So the debark debate begins. Here are my facts to support my coments not only with Debark but also DL. I am sitting here looking at my Confermation for the first part of my B2B. It says the ashore time at PC is 7:30. Well we all know the ship gets there around 6:00. In '05 we only had the one day, like we do this year, between Cabo and here in L.A. We were docked here in L.A. when I was waiting for breakfast at 6:30. We were off by 9. Same in '08. Also every cruise I have taken out if here has been the same as the two times I have arived on DCL, so I have no reason to think it has changed now. As for refurb projects at DL. This year the whole river and the island were closed for 5 months. The river had been going down for a long rehab the last couple of years. Also the person I was with who took us to Club 33 and World of Color told us that a lot of DCA projects are behind. Case in point, the enterance was already supposedto be demolished. The Swings are opening a month or so late. I am not saying a lot will be down, just Jan us when they do a lot of TLC.
