Just got my pics back from WDW, lets just say I am not a happy camper. Denial has been a part of my life for the last few years!!!! I used to be a svelte 110 lb, active size 4; now I am an obese 165 lb. ,size 12 non-active slug.
I have also had a few lifestyle changes. I moved in with my now DH and his 16 y.o. son, 2 years ago. The weight has crept on since then. They eat differntly than I ever have; cookies, candies, fast food, real soft drinks, etc. I had started to eat like them, the junk and fast food. Now, that I can't fit into any of my clothes, its not that great. I am so dreading getting my wedding pics back. I am having a hard time trying to meet everyone elses needs except my own. As a nurse, it comes pretty natural to put your needs on the back burner. My DH needs to lose weight also, at 6' 2" and 270. However, his son, who at 16 is a slim 5'11" and 120 lbs. He is a very picky eater!!! Eats nothing but chips, cookies, snack cakes, pizza, etc. And doesn't gain a pound!!! What can I do??? I am getting desperate, and know the answer is simple. The crazy thing is we are both nurses and know better, however, with such busy lives, the fast food is an easy choice. I have just started on the South Beach for 2 days. So far so good. I want to lose 50 lbs. If I do so, than I am going to surprise my DH with a vow renewal at WDW. I didn't have a real wedding dress; I didn't feel good about myself enough to get one. I appreciate any advise and/or support!!!!

Poohs twin sister :guilty:

I don't have much advice for you because I'm pretty new too. I'm sure the other Wishers will have plenty. :sunny: I just wanted to say Welcome to the group. It helps me a lot to read the journals. :)

Hi tinkerrn and welcome to WISH! :wave2: I'm half way through my nurse training her in the UK, so I understand some of the issues that you are faced with regarding schedules and eating. I know when I'm on placement on the wards we usually get a break at around 9.30-10.00 and then don't finish until 2.30-3.00. So it's really difficult planning when you are going to eat. I have found WW's to be a great help. I do it online because I don't have time to go to the meetings. I also count points, and have a rough plan of what I'm going to be eating, so that I don't end up getting to 5 o'clock and not having any points left. I have to say it's not the fastest way that I've lost weight, in fact it's going really slowly. However I'm ok with that. I hope that you are able to find a plan that works for you. Good luck! :goodvibes

Thanks for the support, I have been in need of some desperatly lately. The South Beach diet is doing pretty good. Not even wanting the 'bad' stuuf, ya know I am the die hard "sugar queen"; cakes, cookies, brownies, chocolates, etc. . The stuff you just look at and gain 5 lbs. from. So cross your fingers and throw some pixie dust my way!!!

I lost 35 on SBD, I then got pregnant, gained 55 pounds, and so I am now on SBD again! You will probably lose 7 - 10 pounds the first two weeks if you stick with it! Then it will be much slower, but I am sure you know that is the healthier way. I really like SBD because you just have to say no to the white stuff and not worry about counting anything! My DH did it with me, and I think that makes it much easier. Good luck! You can do it!

TinkerRN ~ You & I are starting out at the same place. Except I have NEVER been a size 4!

Before kids I was 125, size 8. I got up to 180, size 14 after my second was born in 1999. I lost 40 on WW back then. Well, now I'm BACK UP to 165. I'm starting back to WW this week. I hate to do it, I feel so stupid having gained that weight back. But I"m glad I'm starting now before I gain much more. I know if I don't start WW again I'm going to just keep getting bigger & bigger. And it was a picture that convinced me that I needed to make a change. I didn't realize how much I'd gained until I saw myself in black & white. We got a new digital camera this weekend, and my DS took a picture of me to try it out. (It got deleted right away! He can take another one in a few months when I look better!)

I also put everybody's needs before mine. I have a DH & 2 kids, plus I run a daycare out of my home, so I'm constantly worrying about everybody else. We eat pretty decent here in the house. A big problem with us is that we eat out maybe 2 or 3 times a week. Either fast food, pizza, etc. AND, to make things even more difficult for weightloss, we're going to WDW in three weeks, I'm sure I'm going to have a hard time there.

Anyway, just wanted to say Hi! I don't know if maybe you want a weightloss partner or something, maybe we can help each other. We're starting out at the same weight, but doing different diets. Personally I think WW is the best, but we'll see! (yes, that was a challenge!) Feel free to PM or email me, or I'll see ya back here. Can't wait to hear how great you're doing!

Sandcass.....sounds like you've got a partner!!!! As for going to WDW, don't worry about it. You will be doing so much walking, plus its still pretty hot. I honestly didn't have that hard of a time when we were on vacation. I think I ate better than at home. We didn't have all that 'junk' around waiting for me to eat it. Try and forgo the breads, appetizers, and split dessert. I am so excited for you, you will have a great time!!!! You sound like me about pictures, have tons of everybody else!!! None of myself. I would love to lose 20-25 lbs by the time we go again in the spring, then another by next September. What are you doing about goals? I am dreading the Holidays, making fudge, cookies, etc.. This year will be different, I want to make some healthy treats for the Holidays to give as gifts. This SBD is great! I have never felt better in my life, probably because I such a problem with sugar.
We shall see, my tummy already feels flatter!!!!! The thing is, when you cut sout such refined carbs; most of the weight lost is water. Thanks for all the support!!! Good luck Sandcass!!!!

Hi TinkerRN - Welcome to WISH. You might want to go over to the SBD thread and say Hi. There are alot of people over there doing well on SBD. Looking at your goals I think they are very reasonable. Just don't get down on yourself if you don't quite make them. Every goal I've set seems to have come a couple of weeks later than I planned. For Example after starting I was losing weight at a great pace and thought I wanted to get below 300lbs before the first of the year. I didn't finally get below 300 until mid January. As my next big goal I wanted to have the 100lb clippie before my 1 year anniversary. I didn't finally get that until a couple of week late as well. One other suggestion I would have is look at more than just what the scales says to judge you success. Look at size loss, extra energy , etc in addition to what the scale says.

I haven't exactly thought of goals yet, just to consistantly lose each week when I go weigh-in. I know it will be slow, 1-2 pounds a week. I guess I want to lose 25 again, that would put me back at 140 and that's a very comfortable size 8 jean for me. I'm 5'5. So I should look pretty good by next spring when it's time to put shorts on again. I'm not too worried about eating at WDW, I know I won't eat perfect so I'm not even going to try. (I'm not going to try to eat perfect, I am going to try to make some good choices!) And we're doing 7 days of parks, so I should walk alot of it off! So I have 2 weeks at home to do my best, and then get back on the program when I get home again.

Ok, time to set a goal, since you asked it made me think about it. My birthday is April 7, so that's just under 6 months away. I should be able to lose 25 pounds by then, NO PROBLEM! And this time I'm going to make myself keep going to WW meetings even after I'm at goal, so that I keep it off. I'll be still counting points when I'm 80 if it keeps me thin!

I'm going to PM you my email address, I'm gonna need all the help I can get!
