Since Connor was fine once we exited Nemo, we headed straight to our next destination. Xander wanted to play. This play was the number one thing on his list. We started at the Boneyard. I found a bench nearby to nurse Connor where he fell asleep. When Xander decided he wanted to win a prize, we moved on to the second part of his playing.
Xander loves playing the games. He played a total of 6 games (5 different ones), and won prizes on three of them. The whiffle ball game is the one he enjoyed the most, so he played it twice. Unfortunately, he did not win that one either time. I was impressed that he won three times though, and he plays with one of the animals he won a lot. Playing the Fossil Fun Games is probably the single thing he looks most forward to at Animal Kingdom. The sun was beating down in this area though, and I felt very hot. We got drinks to cool us down.
After Xander won his prizes, we got in line for TriceraTop Spin. Connor was still asleep, but I figured we would ride with him asleep if he did not wake up. The wait was 25 minutes, and he woke up naturally just as the ride before ours started. It was perfect timing. We all rode this, so I do not have any pictures. Our Fastpasses for Dinosaur were about to expire, so we rushed over there. This was the tenth and final fastpass of the whole trip. I’ve seen people get around that many in one full park day, so we obviously do not use them as often. That is still a huge improvement for us, since we rarely hit double digits with our fastpasses.
Crap took Xander first. I nursed Connor a little, but he was mostly in the mood to play. They were not gone for too long on this one. When they exited, Xander informed me he did not want to ride again. Since our must list was almost complete and the wait was not long, I used the rider swap pass and rode alone.
We explored the Tree of Life, which Xander always enjoys. He loves climbing on it for some reason and loves looking at the animal carvings. Even though Xander is not overly fond of 3D shows, we decided to take in It’s Tough to be a Bug. The show was about to start after our exploration. I figured we could always leave if Xander did not want to finish it, since that seemed to be the theme of the day. He does not like certain things about the show, so I try to shield him from those things. We sat in the front row, so he would not get sprayed with water. This was the first show all day that we made it through. Maybe our luck was turning around. When the “bugs exited,” I made sure to lift Xander’s back off the seat. That way, he did not get “stung.” Then, we were off.
We were all hungry, so we stopped for some late afternoon snacks. Crap and I got eggrolls, while Xander opted for a soft pretzel. The eggrolls were sold in a cart somewhere between Everest and the Safari. They were pretty good and fresh. Our picky son does not like eggrolls (and is allergic to eggs anyway), so Crap hiked somewhere to find the pretzel while the boys and I grabbed a seat. I forgot where he said he found it, but he was gone a long time. He ate his eggrolls while he hiked.
It is a tradition to get tattoos at a little cart in Africa. Xander received his first tattoo ever there and cried as if he was getting a real tattoo. He was not perfectly still for it either, so it was a little flawed. A few days after that initial one, he got another one at the Pirates league and cried when they put that on as well. Over the past year, he started loving them. Now, he gets them as often as we allow him to. I was curious to see how Connor would do with his first tattoo. Just as I suspected, Connor did fine. He just kept staring at it to figure out what it was. Since he was just staring at it and hardly moved, it did not have any flaws.
Connor is such an inquisitive kid, while Xander is a little more standoffish with new things (but not new people). Although, Xander makes me very proud with all of the rides that he tried first before deciding he did not like them. I am happy to report that he also tastes more foods that he refused to taste before. He calls it his trying challenge/test. It is cute. The tattoos both turned out great. They are a little pricy at about $9 each stick-on, but stay fresher looking longer than the cheaper ones.
The only other thing on our must list was to visit Mickey (and the others if time permitted). Since the lines were not long, we decided to watch the Festival of the Lion King. It was about 10 minutes away from starting. We got through It’s Tough to be a Bug, so we could make it through this one too right. Xander and Connor both seemed really into the show. Connor started squirming and fussing a little. Immediately, I started nursing. He did really well and was starting to fall asleep. I felt rumblings and heard some loud sounds from Connor’s belly. While enjoying the show, I was trying to see if my nearly sleeping baby needed a diaper change. The smell test did not work well, because it barely had a smell back when he was exclusively breastfed (as he eats food now and the smell caught up with him). Even though it was dark, I managed to sneak a peek. He was in dire need of an immediate diaper change.
We exited as quickly and quietly as we could. Other than Beauty and the Beast (which I decided to leave early in a panic to get to Fantasmic), we did not have to leave any shows early on previous park days. At AK, we had to leave three shows early. I guess the third time was not the charm or was it, since It’s Tough to be a Bug was the third show. Shockingly, the area was nearly empty when we entered the show, but it was booming despite the early exit. The line for the only changing table in the restroom was three people deep. That was the first time all week I’d seen anything like that. I did not want Connor to sit in it for that long, so I tried to find Crap. <<<That sentence is making me laugh so much right now. Hopefully, the line in the men’s room was not as long, I thought. He was nowhere to be found. I went back to the restroom to see that two of the three ladies in front of me were gone.
It took a while for the third lady to finish. Before I got him onto the changing table, the restroom filled with so many people. The Lion King show let out and everyone rushed over there. I finally got to the changing table. There was a long line for the restroom, but no one ever got behind me in line for the changing table. This means that I would have changed him at the exact same time if we stayed and finished the show. Oh well. Connor had a mini blow out, but everything was contained to the onsie. After I changed that and cleaned him up, I went in search of Crap and Xander.
I figured they were probably in a character line, but they were all so long at this point. They were not visible and Crap was not answering his phone. Connor and I found a bench at the top of the trails and waited for them. Next time, I will tell you where they were.
