My parents, brother and his son are putting together a last min trip for early may. I booked myself, wife and kids @ poly - concierge. I'm really looking forward to this . I've never been to DW but am sure that I will love it.

My parents......are not able to stay @ Poly d/t the high cost. I can't afford to help them out. They are going to book @ a value (music) resort.

My question - Is it awful that I'm not offering to switch resorts? I guess I'm feeling guilty because I'm here asking for others opinions. I would love to here others opinions:)

imho, I would feel bad staying at the poly with my parents at the all-stars. You would be in two very different worlds. I know that if I went with my parents, I would have to compramise on the accomodations. What about meeting in the middle and staying at a moderate all together?

I think that I would feel bad. I agree with terribm you all should just stay at a moderate.

I would feel bad too. I would downgrade too a moderate and give them the extra money to upgrade to a moderate.

Actually that is exactly what I did. I orginally had GVC booked for our vacation. We were going to pick up the difference between that and a moderate so my mom could stay at the Poly with us. After figuring out all the charges we decided to downgrade to a moderate and stay more nights...

It's your vacation too! and, if it were me, I'd rather be at separate resorts. My husband and I went once and my mother and aunt went. We stayed at the Beach Club and they stayed at Coronado.

I think I'd switch. I couldn't stay at a deluxe while my parents were in a value - it's just the way I am.

If I were in your situation, I'd do one of the following:

1. I'd switch everyone to a moderate, using the savings from the Poly to pay the extra cost for your parents.

2. I'd switch to the same value as your parents, and take the savings from the Poly & put it towards a future Disney vacation!

I kind of agree with PamNC, I mean this is your vacation that you have saved for, right?

Do your parents and brother know where you are staying? Are they OK with that, or are they making you feel bad because they can't afford a deluxe? I'd probably ask those questions first before re-booked.

Personally I would stay at the values with them. But that is just me. Or maybe I would have everyone stay in a moderate and give them the difference from the money I saved.

Another thought, and I haven't done the math on this, but can you stay at the Poly NON_CONCIERGE and use the money you saved to upgrade your mother to a standard room at the Poly?? Maybe you could offer this as an early "birthday" or "Christmas" present???

Are you all using codes to decrease the cost? Maybe with a code they could afford to upgrade to something else??

I guess a lot of this depends on your relationship with your parents. After all you can technically afford to help them out if you downgraded. I just know I personally couldn't do that to my mother regardless if she didn't care. NOW my dad is a different story.

Like I said it depends on the relationship.
