From Oil Wells to Jingle Bells-Bells,pg.66, See you in September!

Great update. You get an A for your use of the word nonplussed and an A+ for use of a word of your own invention, non-minused.

Good luck today with your eye. I'm not going to say I wish you an injection free day, because whatever they have to do, I just hope they fix it.

Sure, now you tell me Mama Melrose's is not that great! I immediately went to disneyworld.com to change my reservation and could not.

Have fun stormin' the castle! Hope the eye doctor visit goes well! (That deserves a dancing banana.)

I finally got all caught up! 100 pages of some of the best readin' on the Dis! :goodvibes I have really enjoyed reading both trip reports!

I'm so excited that you'll be going back again in Sept. You'll be heading down when DH and I normally go. We've been going around the 2nd week of Sept. for the past few years--free dining every year, MNSSHP every year. We love it. Except for the torrential rains that roll in at night and don't roll out for hours.

Our first MNSSHP we almost floated down Main St. it rained so hard for so long. But we still had a great time. 2009 was the first dry party we went to. And I don't mean we forgot the fuzzy cups. LOL!:rotfl:

I hope all goes well with you eye appt. today and I'm so happy that you are both still smoke free. I quit in 1984 but I was never a heavy smoker so it wasn't so tough for me. Let us know how you're doing today.

Can you see yet? :hyper: Can you see yet? :hyper: Can You? Can You? Can You? :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Or does Smidgy have to buy you a tin-cup and some dark glasses :cool2: so you can sit out on the street corner all day and start raising some money for your next WDW trip? :lmao:

J/K. Hope all went well today. Can't wait to hear how it went. Hopefully not another needle to the eye. :scared: :faint:

Boy, I hate this, I'm starting to feel like a drama queen.
I do much better writing about problems that have happened in the past than current problems. How do you make current health issues sound funny?

Anyway, this morning was mostly pretty uneventful, no surprise shots this time which is better than a sharp stick in the eye.

And, once again what I percieve to be is not what the Doc does.
After examining the retina and the results from the OCT machine which I believe stands for Occular Creamatorium Tomography, he says it's improved since my last visit.
He's not sure why I haven't seen a difference yet. Honestly, I'm not as concerned how my eyes look on his side, it's from my side I'm more concerned about.
Remember when you would show up for work on a Mondaqy morning after a big Super Bowl party with a terrible hangover and somebody would always say,
"Man, are your eyes bloodshot", and you'd reply, "You ought to see them from my side."?

It's something kinda like that.

Maybe I was expecting too much too soon.
Turns out though, I am only probably on a hiatus for another eye infection, found out most people need more than one. Hold it, injection, not infection. Geesh, I've got enough problems!

After the meeting, Smidgy and I both talked about how we were both under the impression that most people only need one shot, not the other way around. She mentioned maybe it's to get people to take the shot, they may just head for the door if they're told right away they may need it done a few times.
"YA THINK?"

So Dr. Sade wants to hold off for a bit before the second injection, he wants to see the results of some anti inflamatory eye drops he gave me that I have to take for 3 weeks. With that and a pat on the butt we were back on our way in only two hours this time, now I'm stil waiting for my eyes to un dilate.

Sounds like time to work on that relaxation therapy, in anticipation of the next big stick...

I'm glad to hear that the eye is looking better to the doctor at least. Maybe the eye drops will help you to look at the doctor better for the next visit?

Hope you feel better soon.:lovestruc

Okay...
1. No needle to the peeper. :scared: That's good, at least for now.
2. Doc says it's getting better. :cool1:
3. Don't worry so much about being funny about it. Maybe just sit back and realize that there are a lot of people out there (in here?) who are genuinely concerned for your well being. Don't blush. It's true. Just accept it.
4. You're doing a good job of it anyway. I couldn't for the life of me figure out why it'd be a good thing to have more than one eye infection.
5. I'm sorry, did you say you're waiting for your eyes to undulate? That'd be cool.

Get Better! :goodvibes

I'll second Marie in that Dr. news is good news at least:) Hopefully your vision will improve soon(ishly).

So, question of the day: What's worse, quitting smoking or a needle in the eye???

PS: no need to make your Dr visits funny, we all know there no fun to be found there.... sigh

On a totally different note:

marita... you're links lead to website not found. I also can't find any rumours section on the Dis?

Well after a week I'm finally caught up. Great job as usual!

I really wish you the best with your on going eye trouble. You need to keep those peepers in tact so we can catch a game next time I'm in Chicago:thumbsup2

Looking forward to the rest of your report.

IGlad to hear about the upcoming September vacation!!! Great news!!! We are going over Labor day, but I think you are not going till after that.

Today's weather in the Florida Panhandle was 75, so I am more than excited about our upcoming trip to Disney!!! :cheer2: WE are under a month but this is the earliest that we have ever been. (March13th....do you know what to expect for weather?)

QUOTE]

Thanks Cnaut, glad you enjoy this. Can't help you out much concerning March, that and January are the only months we have never been to Disney in, should be very pleasant though.

Is he a smooth operator?

Smart alec comments aside, I wish you and your eyes all the best.

yes, I got it Danielle, Smooth Operator, circa '84, a really crappy hit song for Sade. Has she grown hair yet? Or am I thinking of someone else?

The Homer in the Gloamin' is one of the most famous walk-off home runs in baseball folklore, hit by Gabby Hartnett of the Chicago Cubs near the end of the 1938 Major League Baseball season. The expression was a play on the popular song, "Roamin' In The Gloamin'".

God bless the internet. For the rest of the details: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homer_in_the_Gloamin'

Your upcoming trip sounds terrific. I think the longest I've spent at DW is 5 days? Something like that.

Hope all goes well with the eye appointment. I'll be sleeping (if it's midnight, I must be working) but when I get up I'll be checking every now and then for an update. Good luck!

Whew, wasn't sure Iwas right about the Gabby thing, thanks for the reference. Now, you are so far away that a minimal stay of 7 nights is mandatory, so get off your butt and book a trip now, with all the hours you've worked you can afford it, you know it.

Great update. You get an A for your use of the word nonplussed and an A+ for use of a word of your own invention, non-minused.

Sure, now you tell me Mama Melrose's is not that great! I immediately went to disneyworld.com to change my reservation and could not.

MMelrose will be ok, I would have liked it better if it wasn't so cold with the door open and if my back wasn't bothering me so much. Smidgy insists the pork chop was terrific.

Hi scrappy, we have found that there are no constants when it comes to weather in Florida. This last July trip lasted two weeks and we barely had a drizzle once in all that time. I remember our first September trip in 03 was for 11 total nights in Orlando area and we only got a 20 minute shower in all that time one night at Downtown Disney. Then we have the current trip, normal highs are 75 and we aren't even hitting 60.:confused3

Can you see yet? :hyper: Can you see yet? :hyper: Can You? Can You? Can You? :hyper: :hyper: :hyper:

Smidgy and I decided to skip the pencils because I may put my eye out and invest instead in an organ grinder.
But I have to be the monkey.

Hey Kyle, sounds good, but we have to invite Cabrera for dollar beer night.:rotfl:

Well glad to hear they did not stick you again. My mother in law has had those shots a few times. Wish they would have been clearer on how long the process is for you. How is the other issue comming along? I have heard that quitting is hard have not had the guts to really try to quit myself yet.:sad2: take care of each other.

I am so glad you two are still not smoking, we are still trying to get started at not smoking. We talked about going in Sept, that would be nice, but we will have to wait and see. Gee Nebo, I really hope everything will be ok with your eyes. U need those peepers to find Randy and I the next time. Take care of yourselves you two. Keep coming with the updates and the report.

The studios, Sunday night:

There really wasn't much pomp and circumstance preceeding the lighting of the Osbourne Lights, just a
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Osbourne family's spectacle of lights" or something close to that and then somebody flipped the switch and music started and the lights came on.

They are just amazing though, and just as amazing right then was the crowd, the streets were just packed for the lighting.
We did a quick walk through, and decided to come back later during EMH hours when it will be relatively empty then.

After looking at my watch, we decided on the spur of the moment to try and make the 7 o'clock final for the American Idol Experience, but with people trying to get out of the cold and only ten minutes left we didn't have very high expectations of getting in.

But we did, barely.
However, once again we are doing the "Quick, guzzle the fuzzy cup" routine, they weren't allowed inside.

As we stood at the top, just inside, a cast member asked us if we'd mind sitting in the handicapped seats down in front, there was still 2 open.
Smidgy looked at the CM and said, "I take it you know my husband?" But as he led us down it turned out the seats were taken now and we ended up way in the back but at least we had seats.

The final has all the winners from the five shows during the day, the winner tonight gets a fastpass to an actual audition for the show.

And all 5 final contestants tonight are women. You had to wonder if men were beaten out or just never tried in the first place.

What was even stranger, the first girl that Smidgy ended up voting for sang the Denise Williams song, "Let's hear it for the Boy" from Footloose.

The last girl that I voted for sang the Irene Cara song, " I need a Hero" from Footloose.

And the last time we did this show, a guy did the Kenny Loggins song, "Footloose" from,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
oh heck, what's the name of that movie again?

My girl won.

Then we went over and used our fastpasses for TSM.
This was the first time I have done this ride at night, and I was hoping for a big improvement in my score, hoping to see it much better now not having to come in from broad daylight. Ok, hoping to kick somebody's asp.

And I did, I bumped my score up from the 80000 area to almost 120000, a fifty percent increase!

Smidgy apparently could see better now too, she scored 132000, her all time high! This is somebody who holds both her hands over her head to catch a water balloon!

At this point I cracked and felt the need to do something bigger, so we walked down to the TOT, sign said only a fifteen minute wait time and I didn't think it would be something my back would have a problem with.
With Smidgy's help walking my through the darkness I ended up right in the front, there was really no wait at all.

The doors opened up and I groped my way inside as Smidgy took the old Snagglepus way out...
"Exit stage left".

I was right, it didn't bother my back at all but I'd swear the ride gets shorter everytime, I keep thinking there are more special effects before you get to the drop sequence.

Now the park is officially closed to day guests so we went back over to the Osbourne Lights.
Good call, wasn't crowded in there at all now.

Ok, going to throw a barage of pictures at you now, enjoy;

As we were walking around taking pictures, the music started up again and the lights are now programmed to the music. About half way through I got the idea to try to video this with this crappy little camera.

I have no idea what the song is, but it was fast so the lights really got to dance so let's find out if this is something I can post on the boards here or not.
Don't know if the music will come through either, we'll find out.

I suppose you have to click on the image to start it up, won't know till I'm done here I guess.

Ok, this is the edit. Yeah it worked if you click on the image, but it's not really worth it, and the music for some reason now sounds kind of demonic, like they are playing a Black Sabbath song backwards.
Oh wait, you didn't have to play Black Sabbath backwards to sound demonic.

Never mind.

If you are waiting for me to make a joke about how disappointed I was because I never did hear Iron Man or Children of the Grave I am going to let you down, you know I don't do obvious childish humor like that.

It was really getting chilly now, we hadn't eaten yet but all we had for choices now is the ABC Commissary or the ABC Commissary.

We chose the ABC Commissary.

I thought it would be packed since it's the only real fast food service still open for EMH but the place was dead.
They could have called it the ABC Cemetary.

After checking the menu, I see they have also done the same thing to the burgers here that they did at Pop Century, tacked on an extra 70 cents or so and changed the name to Angus Cheeseburgers.

Who is this Angus fellow and what in the hell is he doing to these cows?
No Ponzi, we don't want pictures, leave it alone.

Being on the dining plan, I went all out, they had an even more expensive burger with bacon and topped with 3 shrimp, why shrimp I have no idea but we both got it.

Actually, the shrimp were the best part of the meal, to me everything about the burger was too "seperate", if that makes sense. It didn't all come together as a unit like say a Big Mac or Whopper might.

That was it then for us and we headed on out.

Back at the resort on our way back to the room we were just passing a woman and a man in a wheelchair or ecv when suddenly she said, "Well hello Nebo and Smidgy, I finally ran into you."

This is Mrsksomeday on the disboards, aka known as Tracy and her husband Bill.
Once again, our timing was terrible, they were on the way to get something from the food court, we were on our way back to the room, it was late by now, and it was freezing out. They both were real nice, I would have enjoyed talking with them like say, by the pool when it's warm out but no such luck. Just talked for a few minutes, found out they were only about seven doors down from us in the same building.
She even told us that Oregonmommy whom we were looking for at Teppenedo was pretty sure she saw us there, but told Tracy they just didn't have time to come and say anything. Then we all ran for where we were heading to get out of the cold.

Tomorrow, it's back to the Magic Kingdom, can't wait I think to myself, wonder if they're calling for snow!

I think the video of the lights turned out well. You got great photos too!

We haven't been to see the Osbourne lights in years since back when the children were in elementary school and we took them out of school for a week. I just can't bring myself to go during Christmas week and crowds. :scared1:

So great that you ran into Tracy and Bill! :woohoo:

Thank you so much for the video of the lights. Makes me want to go back in Nov. again. Our school district is shut down the whole week of Thanksgiving and we have gone twice and both times saw the ozzy lights. They are amazing. Thanks again!

Thanks for the pics and video of the Lights. I have never been there for that, but my husband and children have 'cause they can take time for the
January Marathon. We have a trip planned for the end of September into October and have been toying with the idea of taking Sunday-Thursday
(lower points) at the end of August, but Thanksgiving week could be good instead. This year I have off the Wednesday before Thanksgiving
and of course the day after. Must look into the amount of points needed.

You got my favorite part of the dancing lights. The song is from Phineas and Ferb. It really added something to the lights, with the P&F songs playing. Thanks for posting the link to the video. You done good with your pics.
