From Oil Wells to Jingle Bells-Bells,pg.66, See you in September!

I'd love more pictures but I'll tell you the truth ~ I will read your next trippie even if you don't post a single snapshot!

So... whatcha wanna chat about until you leave? popcorn::

I loved your report just as it is. I especially like the lack of pictures in a report like this because it lets me visualize what you are writing...which is twice as much fun.

and BTW, I'm always up for how to sneak in drinks. :)

Jill in CO

While I fall squarely into the mom-looking-for-the-best-way-to-whatever group, I also have loved reading this report! We don't all "do" WDW the same way and I like reading about other people's trips, whether or not they're traveling with kids. So -- don't change a thing about your TRs! (Although you might want to avoid Brazilian tour groups.)

You may get to drink while you write, but I have to put the drinks away while I read so I don't ruin my keyboard! I'll be looking forward to the next one.

Oh Nebo! We love you just the way you are... bandages and all! :lmao:

I have had a great time following along on the Nebo and Smidgy trippy! I must admit I am smack dab in the middle of that mom's looking for changing tables, but your report was more fun in that I was reading it, not to gain a ton of baby changing tables but rather for enjoyment. Don't get me wrong the other TR are important too and I do enjoy them, but it's nice to have a variety. You have taught me things here that the others have not... like no big pockets! :rotfl: And for the record, if you happen to be on the friendship boat and hear splashing, its ok, either Brenda or Gavin had a melt down and I took your advice! :rotfl2: Seriously... like the thought doesn't cross every mom's mind at least once! :lmao:

I would love to see more pictures of you and Smidgy though! Perhaps I will see you and Smidgy hanging at the pool in December... do you have a favorite pool at Pop???

....if it ain't broke - don't fix it!!!!! :rotfl:

You simply should not change a thing. Add more pictures - that's fine. People always enjoy pictures, I know I never tire of them. Were you lacking them? Not IMO.

I agree regarding ride pictures. We see them on a lot of TR's. My agreement is with a post above stating that if the ride is a particular subject within your TR - then go for it.

Besides - your analogies and embellishments bring visual delights beyond any physical photograph. :3dglasses

I would again like to thank you for all the chuckles, actual "laughs out loud", and falling off the couch uncontrollable giggling while reading your reports. :rotfl:

Hi Nebo and Smidgy :wave2:

Nebo, please don't change a thing! I love your trip reports because I love the story you write! I don't need a ride description as I (and most people here on the DIS) have gone to Disney enough to know each and every ride - Unless of course you draw blood or something else happens on that particular ride! :rotfl: As for pictures, I don't get to see them most of the time because Photobucket is blocked so, doesn't make a difference for me whether or not you include them! :confused3 Also, feel free to drag it out as long as you want! You are a very entertaining writer and quite frankly, I would say addictive. Hope you have a fabulous trip in December. I am still upset we will be missing you guys by a day... Who knows, we might bump into each other at MCO! If you hear a woman scream hysterically and run towards the 2 of you and hug you, don't call security because it might just be me and quite frankly, I wouldn't want to get arrested before my trip (i'll leave that to Riglee)! :lmao:

Can't wait to read your December trip report, and Smidgy, remember, no baggy pants!!! Talk to you soon

Nebo,
I have read all your trip reports and I love them. There are plenty of trip reports out there that just cover the basics. But your is more about the Adventure that you and Smidgy have.

Let's face it, most, or at least many, young moms planning there trips and getting excited about it want to know where the best changing tables are, or how do moms and dads deal with their 4 year old pirate when he has a meltdown on a Friendship boat.

My answer would be to throw him overboard so I'm probably not the right guy to dispense advice on those issues.

My next trip will be next October with my son. He is turning 2 during the trip. While I suppose it would be good to know some tips on what to do if my little pirate has a meltdown, you can bet I will also crack a joke about throwing him overboard at the same time! (Thanks to you!)

First of all, thank YOU! WE should be thanking you for taking us along on your trip!

I personally like your writing style, the honesty and humility is refreshing! And I love to read Smidgy's addendums. If there are moms who need to know where the changing tables are, well they can visit the Family section, but to click on a Nebo report----well, they'll know in a post or two if this is the place for them or not, and it could be they want/need both---a Nebo report fix AND the changing table information! LOL! THere are plenty of styles of reports here to choose from, stay true to who you are!! We're all fans here and can't wait to read all about your December tripping, errr ummm I mean trip! ;) I'll have my family there in December as well, around the 18th, we're looking so forward to it!!

THanks again,
Dawn

Well, my DD and I find the drink and vike references hiliarious! We love your trippies. More pics wouldn't hurt anything, but hey, I love your word pictures, too. I like the stories about your adventures, no need for more ride info. I can ride the rides when I visit, I don't need you to tell me how it works, unless you have a funny take on it.

Thanks for the trip report! (Please do one for the December trip.)

Ok coming out of lurkdom and saved your TR for my 500th post :yay:
I just want you to know your TRs are too crazy. I go back from time to time and read the old ones over and over. You are a hilarious writer...pictures or no pictures, they are great!! Hopefully you will continue on and do a report for your upcoming trip.?!?!

I am one of the ones that go in July...the week of the 4th to be exact, and I HATE the Brazillian tour groups. I hate the chanting I hate the acting like they dont speak english I hate the pushing/shoving and rudeness. Wow good to get that off my chest. I have absolutly no patience for stuff like that.

Nebo and Smidgy, as the others have said, don't change a thing, we love you just the way you are.

Boy ob boy, I can't believe this report is finished already.

Neither can I!!

Now it's my turn. I have some questions for you, I'd like some feedback.

As you probably noticed, I did very little rides and attractions descriptions, focused mainly on Smidgy and myself.
Do you wish I went more into them?
Less about me? I know I come off as being very egocentric in the reading.
H-E-Double Tootpicks NO! That's what makes the Nebo reports so special. I've been on all the rides, and know what I like and what I don't. This is the Disney equivalent of Reality TV. Survivor Disney - Nebo is the $1,000,000 winner by unanimous vote. Well okay, may be a vote or two for that Rig guy over on that other thread...

Are pictures important? Would you prefer more photos or do they take away from the story?
They help in moderation, but don't be turnin' this into Aunt Margie's vacation slide show now...

Should I have dragged this out longer, even if nothing major or funny happened?
Your sense of timing, both comedic and as a writer is impeccable - don't mess with success...

I'm aware that my reports are not the norm on the trippy forum and not for everyone, too much drinking, sneaking in drinks, OMG he's addicted to painkillers!
Let's face it, most, or at least many, young moms planning there trips and getting excited about it want to know where the best changing tables are, or how do moms and dads deal with their 4 year old pirate when he has a meltdown on a Friendship boat.
They've got about a zillion other TR's here. We more "seasoned" travellers have you...
One thing I do know, I'm definately taking more pictures this trip either way, and about the only time I can get any use out of them is to do a report, so we'll see what happens.
That's why I bought DW (er, me(?)) a new camera a couple of years ago. Of course neither of us use it much more than we used to. If anything she gets nervous about bringing it on the thrill rides.

Ok, in summary, thanks again for being such great readers and contributors, even if you've never posted here before and are comfortable in lurkdom I'd like to hear your feelings.
Lurkers? Like me? Wanted to chime in many times, but your followers are oh so witty. And I didn't want any more cracks about us Canajuns, eh. Ya hoser. What's this all aboot anyway, eh?

And if we all learned anything from this report, it is;

"Don't go in July!"

And if I've learned anything, it's that I loved living vicariously through you and Smidgy. And special thanks to whoever linked me here from the RigLee TR. Both TR's have been a ride, and that one will be ending soon. You have to go in December, or I'll have withdrawal. Need something to tide me through till we get there again in March!!!

Thanks Nebo and Smidgy - it's been one HE!! of a ride!!!!

jilly beene!!! (did you ever see the dick van **** episode where the writers interviewed for a puppet name jelly bean? that's what I thought of just now)

I LOVE that you do NOT love the Brazillian tour groups! (on other threads, I was called "racist"!:confused3

ps dickvandike, cause **** will most likely be censored. (we're SUCH rebels!)

hi Marita!!!

I love it! I always love more pictures too. But I am with everyone else... Something else needs to start really soon. Come visit on my tr until then! :lovestruc

even though I'm the "secondary "character, I enjoy reliving the trips through these reports.

and I get absolutely NO enjoyment out of "correcting" Nebo, should be go astray.. none whatsoever!;)

ha! its not racist to dislike rude loudmouthed teens. I live with a couple of my own...
We were at Islands of Adventure a few summers ago at Circus mcgircus in line and like 40 of them came right behind me. Pushing, shoving hollering...I am all for personal space, and they were just like almost on top of me...my blood was boiling. I told the one directly behind me to "push me again and see what happens" Believe me when I say THEY DO SPEAK and UNDERSTAND ENGLISH. I can just imagine what they said about me in portugese. :sad2:

...and the only Dickvandike ive ever seen was in Mary Poppins...about a year ago. Sad huh??

Now it's my turn. I have some questions for you, I'd like some feedback.

As you probably noticed, I did very little rides and attractions descriptions, focused mainly on Smidgy and myself.
Do you wish I went more into them?
Less about me? I know I come off as being very egocentric in the reading.

Are pictures important? Would you prefer more photos or do they take away from the story?
Should I have dragged this out longer, even if nothing major or funny happened?

This info would help if I continue into a December report.

I love the reports just the way they are. You are serious when you need to be and the humor is wonderful. I think it is great that we get to read both your thoughts about what happened.

I would love to see more pictures, I don't think they take away from the story at all.

I can't wait to read your take on December since we will be down there at the same time :thumbsup2.

I don't think you need to change anything about your writing style, Nebo! I like hearing the Nebo and Smidgy story rather than all the ride descriptions. (I sometimes get bored of those in other TRs.:rolleyes1) And, I would like to see more pictures. Especially of the Christmas decorations since who knows when I'll see them in person?

Also, as a mom, I was happy to learn of a way I could make use of the kids' bottles of Sunny D.

Wow! Your response to my questions was just great, thank you, thank you!
It seems that not much should change, I too agree with all of you on the ride descriptions, we all know Dumbo flies around in a circle, (flys)?, so they get a bit redundant. I will try to add more pictures, no reason I can't now that I have a real computer, and the bottom line is to not scrimp on all the dumb things Smidgy says and does.:lmao:

If you don't mind, I"m going to just quote a few of the posts that were pretty much representative of the majority, thanks again everyone for all the kind words.

Nebo,

I know you write better when horrible, awful injuries befall you - or you fall and cause the injuries, but I couldn't wish you guys anything but a wonderful trip. However, in the interest of a trip report...do what you have to do! :rolleyes1

hmm, "write better when bad things happen", hmmm, Does anybody else see a little Kathy Bates in Nancy's quote here? She stopped just short of saying, "I'm your number one fan!":happytv:

Now to answer your questions...I love the format of your reports. I love to hear about you and Smidgy and your take on things. I think many of your readers have been on the rides and don't necessarily need a description of them, unless you noticed something new or interesting. As for pictures, I'm a picture person...love, love, love 'em. I have only stayed at 3 of the resorts, so I love to explore through trip report pictures. And definitely drag it out as much as you want to - I miss you two when I don't have one of your reports to read. (It's a little crazy, isn't it, missing people you don't REALLY know? I swear I'm not an odd person in real life - well not so you would notice anyway! ;)).

Nancy, it's not just you. Even when I'm doing a report, sometimes a person that posts often will just disappear, I start out missing them, then I wonder if I said something that ticked them off. So you don't have to physically meet in person to call someone a friend.

Hope you and Smidgy and your family have an wonderful Thanksgiving and you guys have a great trip! Hope you do okay on the flight - make sure to have a bit of liquid courage ahead of time and hold Smidgy's hand tight - although she may want to sit at the other end of the plane! I'll be here when you get back.

Not sure if I'm going to be able to hold her hand. I'll have a drink in one hand, vikes in the other and hopefully Vallium in the other.

Oh Nebo! We love you just the way you are... bandages and all! :lmao:

I have had a great time following along on the Nebo and Smidgy trippy! I would love to see more pictures of you and Smidgy though! Perhaps I will see you and Smidgy hanging at the pool in December... do you have a favorite pool at Pop???

Tammy, if we get our requested room area we plan on using the computer pool as our home base, we're kinda tired of the bowling pin poool, but if it gets hot which means a lot of pop refills from the food court then we'll be near the smoking section at the Hippy Dippy Pool.

We also like to buy some popcorn and go and sit on a bench along the lake path and throw the popcorn at the feet of passing people on cell phones and watch the birds and ducks all attack them.:rotfl:

First of all, thank YOU! WE should be thanking you for taking us along on your trip!

I personally like your writing style, the honesty and humility is refreshing! And I love to read Smidgy's addendums.
You may call them "addendums" but around here they're called, "setting the record straight."

If there are moms who need to know where the changing tables are, well they can visit the Family section, but to click on a Nebo report----well, they'll know in a post or two if this is the place for them or not, and it could be they want/need both---a Nebo report fix AND the changing table information! that's pretty good, a December tripping report but not gonna happen this trip, nope, no pain, no pain, that's my motto. Nothing will go wrong, go wrong, go wrong....

Riglee is just outstanding; ( I threw out the word awesome years ago and refuse to use that overused phrase and now use outstanding instead, you can see how well that has caught on) , she has now surpassed 300,000 views which is just obscene!

They help in moderation, but don't be turnin' this into Aunt Margie's vacation slide show now...

They've got about a zillion other TR's here. We more "seasoned" travellers have you...

Thanks Nebo and Smidgy - it's been one HE!! of a ride!!!!

Hey my Canadian friend, I could have used another guy here when I got in trouble, and your post was just great, hope you stick around, thanks.

ha! its not racist to dislike rude loudmouthed teens. I live with a couple of my own...
We were at Islands of Adventure a few summers ago at Circus mcgircus in line and like 40 of them came right behind me. ...

I'm like Smidgy, I saw your name and thought of Jellybean too from the Dick Van Not heterosexual Show.
Thank you for taking the time to post, but one thing, the Brazillian soccer groups made the Brazillian tour groups seem like Archie and Betty and the gang.

I have gone back and found the schedule for this trip and I'm reposting it.
And by the way, Accuweather is having lots of fun at our expense. Yesterday their forecast for the first 4 days we are going to be there said ;
some rain, highs 64, lows 42

These are the days we can't even go to parks, planned on spending a lot of pool time then.
Yeah right, in a wet suit!

Then Smidgy checks today;
Highs 78, lows 60, rain possible only one of the days.

What, is a comet expected to hit Orlando at that time?

I think Accuweather needs to stand a little closer to the dart board when they make their forecasts.

Here's what I copied from earlier:

Now, of course because of free dining, our schedule is pretty much set in stone once we get into that phase of the trip, but the first four days are, basically,

We won't get our park tickets until Thursday when our package starts, which also means no free meals before then too, so it's all going to depend on the weather those first four days.

We still have 8 water park tickets each, but the weather will have to be really unseasonably warm to waste one of them in December, but if it is it would work out just great.
We also plan to visit other resorts and look at their decorations, this is a time consuming process when you don't have a car.

Then there is the Mini golf coupon you get ahead of time, we will probably actually use that for a change, never been to Winter Summerland.

Then on one of the days if there's nice weather I plan on going parasailing on Bay Lake.

Ok, made that last part up, just to see if you were paying attention.

Not having the car and the cooler we will probably rent a fridge, maybe buy some bread and baloney, and we also plan on going to the Hess station right across from Pleasure Island and picking up some beer.

On that day we will probably use the 15 buck coupon at Planet Hollywood that you get with your package, so we won't starve until free dining.

One thing we WON'T do those first four days is waste a water park and more ticket on Disney Quest, not gonna spend the equivalent of a 45 dollar ticket to play Q-Bert and Dig Dug for 4 hours, which is what we would probably end up doing.

Ok, so once thursday arrives and we won't know yet if we have to check out and check back into a different room, the schedule is thus:

Thursday night, dinner at Whispering Canyon, see decos at WL, maybe catch the fireworks from the boat.

Friday, Epcot, Emh, lunch at Teppanedo.

Sat, another resort day, dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse, a first timer for us.

Sunday, the studios, emh and finally a chance to try some things there at nght, also see Ozzie's Lights and lunch at Mama Melrose, another first time restaurant for us.

Monday, Magic kingdom, no sit down meals, have lunch ressies for Tony's but will probably cancel them because this one puts us over the limit. We'll probably catch up on counter services meals here, or at least snack credits.
Oh, it's EMH here tonight too.

Tuesday, back to Epcot, lunch at Coral Reef.

Wednsday, Animal Kingdom, again, EMH, lunch at Yak and Yeti, another first timer for us.

Thursday,,,,,,,,,,,,Magical Depress time. Maybe a left over counter service in the morning at the food court. All the counter service and snack credits we fill in as needed.

It probably looks like we haven't eaten at too many sit down restaurants there, but not true, our last count is now 32 table service meals in Disney, these are just some we haven't yet tried.

And I can guarantee you, if we should ever live long enough to have tried them all, Akershus at Norway will still be the last one on the list.

Yes, we tried and tried to get Le Cellier, but no dice, we were way too late and I didn't want to waste two credits to book a Candlelight Processional package there.

Well, there you pretty much have it.
Yes, because of the frying, I mean flying issue and all the ressies it's driving me nuts not being able to tinker with this trip like I always do,,,,,,,,,,

Hmm, maybe it's still not too late to book a parasailing reservation after all.

More than likely, we will go to Downtown Disney Monday, the day after we arrive and go to the Hess for beer, see the Decos there and eat at Planet Hollywood with our voucher.

On Tuesday the 30th we plan to go to the Poly to watch the Holiday Wishes fireworks and the stupid Water Pageant. ( I like to see this about once every ten years and we just saw it in July so you do the math)

I'm guessing that Wednsday will be a day we finally use the Mini Golf voucher, but we always say that and never do so I'm not making book on it.
