From Kick'n It at Kidani to Play'n It at Pop adults only p62/63 last thoughts&request

We started things off with a smoothie. I was pretty hungry because my appetite was now in full swing for almost two days of generous eating. Yummy smoothie!

Denny wanted to start his meal with yet another crab cake. I convinced him to get the wings for two. I remember them as being really, really good. My my memory was a bit faded, because the wings were just "OK".

Sept2009-Disney989.jpg

For Dinner I had the Tuna Oscar. This was really, really good. I loved how the tuna was perfectly encrusted on the exterior and most and juicy on the inside. I have never eaten tuna like this because I have a thing about food being cooked properly. But I took my chances and it proved to be a good decision. You can see from my picture that I just dug right in and then remembered to photograph.

Sept2009-Disney990.jpg

Ok , here's Denny's entree...... (now I have to figure out what it is).....

Sept2009-Disney991.jpg

Oh....horrors....that is a terrible picture and I have no idea what he ate. I remember him eating fish (maybe mahi mahi), but that looks like steak. My computer is not letting me open another window now, so I'll have to check the menu later.

As far as dessert....yes we had it, but I didn't take pictures so I can't remember what it was. Maybe sitting so close to the couple next to me was unnerving me and impacting my photojournalist skills.

Well, all is not lost. I did photograph a light fixture for LL and these nifty wall hangings.

BTW - in case you were wondering, we received no special anniversary wishes at this meal. But that's Ok.....we still had a great meal and a lovely server. When dinner was complete, we scooted off to the monorail to join the rest of the party goers.

Here is one more picture taken from the poly.....

And here is a little teaser from our arrival at MNSSHP. See, the eery mist is already going.

Sept2009-Disney993.jpg

Gotta love the mist at twilight. Such anticipation!

Up Next....MNSSHP (really, I promise ;))

Your May ADRs look great! I am anxious to try The Wave too. Can't wait to hear what you think of it!

Thanks. I think they will work out well. I have 3 new ADRs (if you can count Tusker House, because I haven't eaten breakfast there) and 3 oldies, but goodies. I actually ate at the Wave in June and we really liked it. The steak was very good. It was quite as good as Le Cellier, but it was pretty close. And I love the Contemporary because you can walk to MK. AND, I thought it would be a great way to kick off our first night since we can take the boat from the WL right to the Contemporary. I hope that it will set a nice tone for my friends!

That view of the Welcome sign was totally worth the climb. What a nice payoff and a neat little factoid I will have to keep in mind. :thumbsup2

I had been waiting to do that ever since we decided to stay at Pop. But the first thing I notice was how overgrown the trees were becoming. I'm sure the view was much better when Pop was first built!

Nice updates!

I had never seen pics of the "Welcome" sign view from Pop. That is really cool! Your Pop pics capture it's fun atmosphere nicely!

I'm looking forward to hearing how you liked MNSSHP! Our night was packed so I'm interested to hear how the crowds were for you.

Nice updates!

Thanks. I've been so frustrated with myself for not moving this TR along a little faster.

I had never seen pics of the "Welcome" sign view from Pop. That is really cool! Your Pop pics capture it's fun atmosphere nicely!

I've seen that picture once or twice before, but with much less foliage. Pop does have a fun atmosphere and, while I could never stay there during the crowded seasons, I really enjoyed it in September.

I'm looking forward to hearing how you liked MNSSHP! Our night was packed so I'm interested to hear how the crowds were for you.

Ohhhhhh..... I almost hate to tell you this, but our night was really perfect. Not crowded at all. I guess that is the advantage to going before F&W.

Awww MEK! You should have let Denny get the crab cakes. The Kona ones are the best ones I've had at Disney! :rotfl2:

Love all your pictures from Pop. I love that you can see the Disney sign, a neat little fact!

Love your reference to being in the "know". That is why I love the Disboards. It keeps me all "knowing".

I suspect one day a large discount code will come your way and you will stay at the Poly. It's too much of a classic for you to leave it off your list. And never say never cause you never know. Except of course us disers cause we're in the "know."

Great updates, Mary Ellen! Love the picture of the Disney sign! Much better than the one I took through the buggy windshield! :lmao:

Connor still wants me to do a running commentary on all his swimming jumps (and lots of other things). :rotfl:

Dinner looks pretty tasty at Kona, and what a super picture of the eerie mist at the MK entrance! :thumbsup2

Really fun pictures at Pop with the Rubik's cube and I love the picture of the Welcome Sign...the happiest sign in the world! :wizard:

Looks like you had a really good dinner at Kona and I agree with you about things being cooked properly....the first time I ever had tuna was at The Wave this past trip...it was an appetizer and I have never tried it because it looks RAW! However, it was soooooo good! I ended up having another tuna concoction at the Japan kiosk for F&W. I have never been a big meat eater...was a vegetarian for over 10 years then converted back about 5 years ago...I could easily talk myself back into it but for now it's steak at The Wave and Le Cellier for me!

Can't wait to see your MNSSHP pictures...that was such a great time and I can't wait to go again during October.

ME-love your Pop photos...I haven't stayed there but it looks like fun and I'll bet the people who designed it had a blast...I love that you got a photo of the Welcome sign from the rubic's cube...I'm just picturing you climbing around in there...:goodvibes

I love Kona Cafe...It's another one of those in the "know" we Disers and friends know about-it's not exactly hidden but I do think it is sort of overlooked compared to Ohana and the food is so good...:goodvibes (I had to laugh at your tuna comment because you'd probably freak if you saw how I like my burgers...:rolleyes1

I love the POP pictures and the fact that you climbed up the Rubiks cube.

How cute with the little boy, I would have been freaking out that there wasn't a parent in sight. I always have to vote on Kendall's handstands..on a scale of 1-10.

I  that Tuna Oscar. It was my favorite meal of our trip.

And I agree with Diamond. I somehow suspect that someday, at least a night at the Poly is in your future.

Ooooh, I can't wait to try and get that picture from the Rubik's Cube stairwell!!! Your dinner at Kona looked amazing! :thumbsup2

Denise

Oh, sure, NOW you tell me. :rotfl: The problem was the chicken wings were two and they would not split the order. I guess we both should have gone with the crap cakes. Live and learn!

I knew you would like that fact, considering were almost going to stay at Pop , in the 80's building. See, I remember things like that.

Love your reference to being in the "know". That is why I love the Disboards. It keeps me all "knowing".

Yes....all hail the mighty and powerful Disers! :worship:

I suspect one day a large discount code will come your way and you will stay at the Poly. It's too much of a classic for you to leave it off your list.

You're right. Its not completely out of the realm of possibilities! I know that Tikiman guy gets some good deals. I would like to stay there. I would pick it over GF because it just has such an awesome feel.

Except of course us disers cause we're in the "know."

:rotfl2:

Great updates, Mary Ellen! Love the picture of the Disney sign! Much better than the one I took through the buggy windshield! :lmao:

What are you talking about????? You the only person I know who can drive AND take a picture of the entrance gates AND get the entire gate in the picture AND still manage not to hit anything! LOL

Connor still wants me to do a running commentary on all his swimming jumps (and lots of other things). :rotfl:

You will miss that when's it gone. And trust me, when its gone, its gone. :sad1:

Dinner looks pretty tasty at Kona, and what a super picture of the eerie mist at the MK entrance! :thumbsup2

Dinner was great and THANK you for spelling eerie correctly. I could not figure out how to spell it this morning.

Really fun pictures at Pop with the Rubik's cube and I love the picture of the Welcome Sign...the happiest sign in the world! :wizard:

.

It IS, without a doubt, the happiest sign in the world. EVAR' :thumbsup2

Yeah, I'm not a big sushi fan. I don't hate it, its just something that I don't go out of my way to eat. But that Tuna. super yum!

Interesting about the vegetarian fact. I don't know if I could do that because I know there have been times in my life when I have craved meat. Its rare, really rare. But it has happened. I love vegetables and whole grains and all that, but I just don't think I could say....OK, never having steak again. That would make me want it more.

Can't wait to see your MNSSHP pictures...that was such a great time and I can't wait to go again during October.

Can't wait to see your MNSSHP pictures...that was such a great time and I can't wait to go again during October.

My MNSSHP pics are so out of order. Its ridiculous. And I really need to get to work on that post!

You're right. The architects probably did have a great time on that design. Yeah - I was getting I littel dizzy inside that Rubic cube, cause I get looking up through the lens of the camera.

Love Kona. Yeah my meal was every bit as good as a Ohana dinner.

As far as your bloody burger.....yuck! You're right - I would freak! Not because it tastes bad, but I have a little OCD as far as ground beef is concerned. I was pregnant with Nicholas, and Brian was a baby, around the time that whole Jack in the Box thing happened out west with the EColi. For some reason, that stuck with me and I have developed an aversion to ground beef, unless it is cooked through and through. When my kids were little I had to cut open every one of their burgers to make sure it was completely cooked. I am not otherwise a germaphobe, but I don't like to touch uncooked ground beef. Before that, I liked things pink and some blood was OK with me.

OK, then, enough of that topic. Just promise me you won't order a burger when we go out to lunch on our Philly tour! :rotfl:

I love the POP pictures and the fact that you climbed up the Rubiks cube.

I knew just what I was looking for. The funny thing was, Denny didn't ask what I was doing. He was probably thinking, "there she goes taking a picture of something she can put on those "Dish" boards. Yup, that's what he calls them....the Dish boards.

How cute with the little boy, I would have been freaking out that there wasn't a parent in sight. I always have to vote on Kendall's handstands..on a scale of 1-10.

The dad was probably somewhere close all along, I just couldn't find him. Anyway, let's hope so. I used to do the 1 - 10 thing with my kids and the jumps. I had to be very careful that they ended up with the same average score! :rotfl:

I  that Tuna Oscar. It was my favorite meal of our trip.

.

That was really good. Right up there with the signature meals!

And I agree with Diamond. I somehow suspect that someday, at least a night at the Poly is in your future.

I have a feeling that I wouldn't be satisfied staying there for just one night. Nope, that's a whole vacation destination. But, let's hope there is a poly stay in ALL of our futures!

Ohhhhhh love the pictures from Kona... i could devour the Teriyaki Steak right now... yum! And your pictures of PoP made me a little homesick, almost - i guess since that's the only resort i've ever stayed at. i agree with the 'never say never' - you never know what the future will bring!

Yum....that does souns good! I will have to add that to the long list of foods I still want to try. funny how that list keeps getting longer.

And your pictures of PoP made me a little homesick, almost - i guess since that's the only resort i've ever stayed at. i agree with the 'never say never' - you never know what the future will bring!

Do you have a trip planned soon? Pop was a lot of fun. I know I will be seeing Pop in the future for years to come. I think it will be perfect to combine with future DVC stays. I've got it all figured out......once the kids are in college I hope that DH and I go to Pop for free dining for like 5 days, then switch over to DVC for 5 days. Yup....that's my plan and I'm sticking with it.

I agree that you should "never say never"!

Denise

:scared1: Hi Denise....I almost missed your comment. Glad I scrolled back.

How soon to your trip????? Are you requesting the 80's? I like that area. Actually, I like all the areas. I hope you do a TR so I can see your pics.

I don't think my pictures did that dinner justice, but it really was good. Yummy tuna oscar. I still haven't figured out what DH had, and he can't remember....big surprise!

Wow. The Poly looks absolutely gorgeous. I'm especially entranced by the poolside/lounge chair picture with a view of the castle. How perfect is that?? I would love to stay there someday- if I can bring myself to "cheat on" the Beach Club. ;)

Kona also looks terrific. WHY do they insist on seating people so close together?? :confused3

Looking forward to MNSSHP! popcorn::

Oh, sure, NOW you tell me. :rotfl: The problem was the chicken wings were two and they would not split the order. I guess we both should have gone with the crap cakes. Live and learn!
I guess I really know how you feel about crab cakes now. :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Cheat on the BC.....What? You? NEVER! I agree, though, the pool and beach and castle. Yup. I could be very, very happy there.

Kona also looks terrific. WHY do they insist on seating people so close together?? :confused3
Kona was yummy! I don't think you notice the close tables as much with a party of 4, but a party of two.....way too close!
