I hope I didn't overdo it on Nemo, but I love that show. It's so colorful, so unique, so energetic. But the question still remains.....Do they sing????? Well a year or so ago I asked another Dis'er who actually was a part time CM in Nemo, and she said, YES, they do sing live. I think that's pretty darn amazing. Sure, they have a backing track, but if they are singing the leads themselves AND running around the stage, well.....that's tough stuff. I'm impressed. :worship:

I was really glad we watched Nemo. I like to see all the shows about every year and a half or so. I would have loved to see FOTLK, but I wasn;t too optmistic we would have enough time.

It was about 11am now and we still had FP's for EE, so we headed back to Asia for another ride to meet the Yeti. We decided not to wait for the front row and just ride in any old seat. It was another enjoyable ride. Sorry...no ride photos this time.

It was almost time to head over to Africa for our ADR at the Tusker House. On the way over I got a few mor pictures.....

Up Next....Lunch at the Tusker House.......

Can you believe I guess got up?????? And I had to add that post. I had it all ready to go last night and the server went down! Ugghhhh! I was so worried it wouldn't post. Going back now to comment!

I think I"ll let you ride by yourself when it gets stuck, I would be scared senseless if I had to actually move that high up in the air.

I can't imagine not being scared senseless, but I still think the thought of sitting there in the heat would scare me more! I am curious, though.....I wonder how the unload cars in other places of the ride. Can you imagine getting off near the broken tracks?

I
Mary Ellen, great pictures of Tibet, the details are wonderful. Denny is just going to have to understand that you are channeling your inner CP!

Channeling my inner CP.....I love that! And, yes.....Yes I was! Thank you!

I love Primeval Whirl! My girls and I call it Hurl-a-Whirl!!!

Hurl - a - Whirl!!!! :rotfl: I like that! Very funny!

Can't wait to see "Nemo"!!!

You are going to LOVE Nemo! Seriously, it is such a creative and colorful show. Really impressive!

Wigd, I love the inner CP comment! You know how I love Animal Kingdom! :goodvibes

Mary Ellen, great pictures of Everest as you headed towards Nemo and how wonderful to ride Primeval Whirl with no wait -- I am telling you, I would love to go to Disney for a whole week in the off-season -- it would be so wonderful to ride all the rides with no wait!

It really, really was a great time to visit. I really do want to go back for Food and Wine next year, but it was really cool being there with next to no crowds. I haven't had a trip like that in awhile. I was watching a you tube video last night about the new attraction, Sum of All Thrills, and the line for Spaceship Earth looked like it was June. Yuck!

Thanks for the compliment on the pics!

I love Finding Nemo! I can't wait to go back with my camera to take pictures. We had my Mom's in May and it wasn't quite the same with hers.

Gotta love those off season crowds! :thumbsup2

I hear ya' LL. I have my eye on the Canon Rebel Xsi. I have been researching it like crazy: reading review and looking at customer pictures taken with the camera and they are awesome. I'm not sure what kind of camera you have, but I know a lot of folks have this canon rebel and the results look great! I plan to have that for my next trip. I just can't decide when to get it, because its a nice little chunk of change. But that is my goal for 2010. I really want to learn how to take consistently good pictures.

Good morning,

I love to wake up to new updates.

Have a good day

Thanks! I hope you have a great day, too! I am really hoping to get another update or two in this weekend. See - I aim to please! I just have soooooo many pictures to post, I need to get to work!

OK - I really hope I didn't miss anybody. I double checked, but PLEASE let me know if I missed any comments.

More great photos! I can never get enough of Animal Kingdom! Looking forward to your review of Tusker House -- we have never eaten lunch or dinner there.

My favorite part of the Nemo show is when they are in the fish tank. I love how they make the starfish look like she is sticking to the tank. It cracks me up.

I have a Canon Powershot S5IS. I love my camera and can just imagine that the Canon Rebel is even more amazing!

Mine, too! I love that! That starfish detail is so cool!

Well, you take some pretty amazing pictures. It must be the Canon. I definately want one!

Great update!! I LOVE all your AK pics!!

On the camera discussion, I have a Canon PowerShot SX10IS. It's what they (they being camera and photography people) call a bridge camera. It has a lot more features and setting then a run of the mill point and shoot digital and less features and settings then a super cool DSLR. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this camera! Really, it's my baby, my toy! I have had it about a year now and am still learning new things about it! I highly recommend Canon! I love this camera so much more then the kodak bridge camera I had before!

Loved your pictures of Nemo! I guess I will have to check that out sometime! Still haven't! I know a lot of people really like it and from what I got of your pictures it looks like a great show.
Very welcome on the EE pictures. Thanks for letting me share them! They fixed the ride shortly after so we used our FP and then rode it a few more times (it was our last AK day :sad1:.) If it had restraints like RNRC I think I probably would have lost it! I am short and when those shoulder restraints are down I can hardly see. It was funny too because we walked all along where the train comes in after the ride when you get off to look at your pictures....all of the CM's were standing their welcoming us with concerned faces like we really did just conquer Everest!
I think that is so funny that you are looking into buying the Rebel before May! SO AM I!!! A friend of mine went a week before I did and he had an uber good camera and his photos are amazing. Here I thought mine were okay until I saw his MNSSHP parade pictures and mine look bad.

I've never seen Nemo! And oh, I want to!

I love the pictures and no, you didn't overdo it, it was great to get a feel for it.

Hurl a Whirl!

:rotfl2:

CP - How did I almost miss this? Oh the Tusker House was very, very good. I enjoyed it and will post pics soon!

Great update!! I LOVE all your AK pics!!

Thanks! I love AK. It is quickly becoming my favorite park, now that I am channeling my Inner CP.

This is good information. So this sounds like the same camera that LL has. I will do some research on this, because maybe this is a more cost effective upgrade for me. If I do decide to get the Rebel (which is at Costco right now with the 2 lenses, memory card, and bag for $779) I found this highly recommended book on Amazon that gives great instructions on its use. Since I am getting more and more interested in taking pictures, I am thinking I should really learn how to do it right. I did find a better price for the Rebel on line, but I want to make sure I am comparing apples to apples.

Anyway, my current camera is a Fuji. Denny picked it out about 3 years ago. But the technology changes so much and I think a camera is probably a lot like a musical instrument. If you get something that is built for more professional use, you should be happy with it a long time.

It really is a great show. I like it better than FOTLK and since there is no other show like it at Disney world, I think its a must see.

I am so psyched that you posted those pics. Seriously, they are super cool. Not your everyday pics!

I hear you about the restraints. I was stuck on the Mummy ride at Universal Studios and those restraints are terrible. You can't even squirm. That was totally starting to play with my mind. I always think about that whenever I put should restaints on. I always try to position it perfectly - not too tight in case the ride breaks down.

Seeing the concern in the CM's face may have made me feel a tad uneasy! Good for you for going back on!

Ok....same dates! .......same cameras! We are really destined for a Dis meet. Too funny. I know what you mean about the pictures. Some turn out really great with your current camera, but some you just can't get the detail you want. That's why I want that Rebel so bad. I want to take a step closer to uber good!

:laughing: I know!! We have plenty of time to set up a meet...I am sure we will be somewhere on the same day...now probably sporting our super cool new cameras taking pictures of food! :rotfl: There are a lot of great tips on the photography forum here too...for fireworks...etc and camera ideas too.

Speaking of food...I keep forgetting to tell you that I had those same diver sea scallops at Flying Fish a few years back....served over that yummy risotto...The scallops were huge and it was so good! Great place to eat!

Great Nemo pictures! We loved that show a few years ago, I think it will be time for a repeat either this Dec. or next June!

SUPER Nemo pictures, Mary Ellen! And great smile in the one picture - your hair's not that bad :)

i have a Sony Cybershot H10. It is also, i think, a bridge camera, and i love it!

I will be easy to recognize when we do meet. I'll be the one with the 50lb. camera bag toting around a tripod so I can take pictures of illuminations and wishes. Yes - I'm ven going to get one of those vests like the photopass photographers. :rotfl:

Thanks for the suggestion about the photography forum. I will check that out.

I agree:thumbsup2 I think the shows need need be seen about every 1 1/2 to 2 years. So I am due to see FOTLK next trip!

SUPER Nemo pictures, Mary Ellen! And great smile in the one picture - your hair's not that bad :)

Thanks and thanks. That hair though - I went around pushing it back down for the rest of the day. I kept saying to Denny - "Is my hair sticking up again?"

i have a Sony Cybershot H10. It is also, i think, a bridge camera, and i love it!

That's good to know. I like hearing about all the cameras people like. It really helps me make an informed decision on what to purchase.

Thanks! Don't you just love the music. Everytime I see those pics I start singing, "Just keep swimming. Just keep swimming."

So yesterday I had a really lazy day. I goofed around all day. Did a few house chores and I actually watched a few movies yesterday on demand. I watched Bolt, which I absolutely loved. What a cute movie! I never watch animated movies anymore now that my kids are older. I'm glad I took the time to watch Bolt. I also watched that movie called The House Bunny with Anna Farris. That was cute, too.

So after I goofed around all day, I cooked dinner, and then Brian's date to the homecoming dance stopped here so we could take pictures. When I finally sat down to update.........WE LOST POWER! We lost power for several hours. So this is my better late than never update......

Sometimes as I write this TR I catch myslef thinking, "Ho - hum. Boring". It's funny, but when you have a really enjoyable trip, with no kids, and no drama, it makes for a less interesting read. We had no fights, no meltdowns, no crazy calls from home. We just went with the flow and took some time to "smell the roses", as the saying goes. OK - I know - there were no roses to smell in the AK, so we took time to look at all the delightful sights in the AK.

After riding EE for a second time, we took a slow walk over to Africa for our ADR at TH. When I made our ADR's I tried and tried and tried to get a lunch ADR at Yak n Yeti. No luck. That place was booked solid. Then, after I read about CP & family's wonderful breakfast at TH, I tried for a breakfast ADR. Sunnie RN even offered me her ADR at 9:15, but I turned it down because we had breakfast at CMC the day before. In retrospect, I am glad I turned down the breakfast ADR because it gave me an opportunity to ride EE in the front row first thing in the morning. That was worth skipping breakfast for.

When we arrived at TH, there was quite a long line to check in at the first podium. I'm not sure if all these people had ADR's or whether they were trying for an ADR. I think it was the later.

Here's the line I was talking about.......It was starting to make me a bit impatient especially since we were already a few minutes late for our 11:30 ADR.

When we finally got through the "first" line, we were directed to another check-in spot and given a beeper. I only had a few minutes to take some pictures before our beeper went off and we met our lovely hostess.

This was my first trip to the Tusker House since it was turned it into a TS restaurant. I really enjoyed sitting in this nice little courtyard. There was actually some shade. It was very pleasant. Our hostess wore a name tage from Wilmington, DE. Wow - someone from our home state. I rarely recall meeting any CM's from Delaware, so we immediately struck up a conversation. We knew a lot of the same areas and she told me how much she missed living in Delaware. Well, OK then! I guess I secretly wanted her to tell me how glad she was that she moved, how much she loved Florida, and how happy she was to work for Disney World. I wondered to myself if I would miss Delaware if I relocated to Florida. I'm sure I would miss it occasionally, but I'm not sure exactly how much. Would the constant Florida heat start to get to me that much????? hmmmmm...... not sure.

We sat in a very quiet room next to the wall. This is what the wall looked like......

Sept2009-Disney728.jpg

Despite the number of people outside, the restaurant seemed pretty empty. I guess it filled up by the time we left. There was some great theming inside and out. I loved the great safari pics on the walls.....

Again, such great attention to detail.......

Sept2009-Disney737.jpg

I took this picture for CP, because I remembered how much she adored her "Lost on Safari" cocktail back in June:

Sept2009-Disney739.jpg

I know you can't see that menu too well, but you must admit, they surely have some interesting names for the cocktails. But, alas, it wasn't quite noon and I thought it might be a little too early to get lost on safari, so I declined.

So....what about the food?????? Well, I thought the food was great.
Here are some of the items I tried:

Endive, Apple and Walnut Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing
Tunisian Couscous Salad
Green Bean and Onion Salad
Curried Basmati Rice
Peri-Peri Marinated Salmon Filet
Fresh Fruit Salad
Seafood Stew

Sept2009-Disney727.jpg

Me thinks I may have sampled a few more goodies, but its really hard to remember. There was so much to chose from, but I didn't want to stuff myself at lunch.

Here is just one of the many food stations:

Sept2009-Disney740.jpg

And dessert.....

Looking at that plate, I really hoped Denny and I shared. LOL!

I also took some pictures of the beautiful ceiling:

I was afraid of being overly stuffed after lunch, but I think we paced ourselves pretty well. We took our time, didn't rush, and we probably remained seated for over an hour. We also got entertained by this cute British couple and their infant daughter. They sat right next to us. The baby was beautiful and I had to resist the urge to take her picture.

So.....its 1245 when we left. What do we do next??????? Stick around to find out.

I love that pic of the ceiling :thumbsup2 Just gorgeous! Since we don't have young children anymore,(and haven't for quite some time!) I often find myself being entertained by the little ones around us too!

I don't know why you are so self-conscious about your smile :confused3 I think it's beautiful!

We missed Nemo last year and would really love to see it, it looks so impressive!

Looking at that plate, I really hoped Denny and I shared. LOL!

Why share? Isn't that why you ran that morning? :rotfl:

Your lunch looks good! AK is our last day and we have to leave the park by 2:30...I wonder if I can squeeze a "Lost on Safari" in??? :rolleyes1

Denise
