Mmmm, you know I love those drink menus and the names they choose -- I think I need to try a Harambe Cooler next time! ::yes::

The theming of Tusker House is some of my favorite theming on property! I love how it makes you feel like you are about to head out on safari! :lovestruc

Lunch looks yummy! One of these days we will branch out and try something there other than breakfast! :thumbsup2

I really love the pretty ceiling pictures! :goodvibes

I'm glad you had a lazy day yesterday. Sometimes those are the best. Bolt is really cute. Up comes out soon and I can't wait to see that one too.

Good Morning and I finally gottime this morning to read the whole TR in one sitting. I love all the great pics and you gave me an awesome start to a Sunday! I keep seeing your TR when I am adding updstes to mine but until today - never have had the quiet or chance to get over here! :worship:

I have been to the GF a few times and never appreciated the tiles so I will have to head back there and try that. One piece of advice if you can squeeze it in for your couples retreat in the spring is to try the GF Tea. My fiance and I did in March this year and it was by far one of our best times that week.

Manntra(sp?) posted pics of EE and having to walk off and all I have to say is I would be butt humping the stairs down. It looked like no railing and there is no way I would trust my legs not to send me tukkus over teakettle.

You two are so cute (smile or not) and I am glad you enjoyed your time. That fish though on his plate the first night - would have given me eebie jeebies for a week. It looked like it was waiting for mouth to mouth. :lmao:

Your Tusker House lunch looks awesome! I'm going to check out that menu to see if it's Baylor friendly or if it will have towait for my birthday trip....:rolleyes1
Lovely pictures of Harambi! One almost feels that you are in there, if the rest of the park guests would just get out of the way.....

I love that pic of the ceiling :thumbsup2 Just gorgeous! Since we don't have young children anymore,(and haven't for quite some time!) I often find myself being entertained by the little ones around us too!

Here are some entertaining little ones.....:rotfl:

I've never tried Tusker House - I'm not big on buffets- but the decor/ambience may just change my mind! I did not try a Lost on Safari on my trip so that is another item on the list for next time! :thumbsup2

I am enjoying your "ho-hum" (your words) no drama, smell the roses TR! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Good for you for taking a lazy day! I can't imagine you take too many of those and it's amazingly rejuvenating! Love the double feature, I know I was like a little kid with Eric last week at the TS double feature in 3D. :goodvibes

You know, most of us dream of having dull, ho hum, leisurely romantic vacations where you can stroll around, smell the roses, linger over the food and drink and pay attention to details otherwise missed. This might sound funny but those kinds of TR's are actually relaxing to read...you are taking us along iwth you and it is just lovely!

I adore that ceiling picture. I need to stay away from the photography board or it could start a whole new obsession.

Tusker House looks YUM!

Whew! I was about a dozen or so pages behind, but I promised myself that I'd catch up and I did!

I don't think your report is boring; your photos are lovely and you're really giving us the sense of relaxation that comes from touring without the kids!

Isn't that ceiling cool. That and the gondolas in Epcot are two of my favorite pictures so far on the trip.

Oh, and that little baby girl was so adorable. I hate that I have to keep reminding myself that photographing other people's children is off limits!

I don't know why you are so self-conscious about your smile I think it's beautiful!
Oh, it's just this thing I have about my crocked teeth. You know how everybody has body parts they dislike. Well, I have never liked my teeth. But I am starting to get over that with help from my DIS friends who are all so positive about the power of a smile. So thank you!

We missed Nemo last year and would really love to see it, it looks so impressive!

Nemo has to be near the top of your "must-do" list for next year!

Why share? Isn't that why you ran that morning?

Now remember - I only went on a short run. I needed a full 5 miles to burn off all those calories!

Your lunch looks good! AK is our last day and we have to leave the park by 2:30...I wonder if I can squeeze a "Lost on Safari" in???

Denise

I saw that "Lost on Safari" drink on CP's last TR and it looked mighty tasty! And our food was really good. So even though I really wanted Yak n Yeti, I still enjoyed TH quite a bit.

Mmmm, you know I love those drink menus and the names they choose -- I think I need to try a Harambe Cooler next time! ::yes::

That one sounds yummy, too. I would like to try them all. Maybe I need to break out of my habit of not having my first afternoon drink until I hit the pool, cause every one of those sounds delish!

The theming of Tusker House is some of my favorite theming on property! I love how it makes you feel like you are about to head out on safari! :lovestruc

It was pretty neat in there. It was a nice refuge from the heat and there was so much to look at.

Lunch looks yummy! One of these days we will branch out and try something there other than breakfast! :thumbsup2

I think I still really want to try breakfast. I was just looking at another TR with breakfast pics and it really looks fun. Maybe next trip, but it would have to be OOP. Maybe I plan that instead of the LTT, which was supposed to be my one OOP TS.

I really love the pretty ceiling pictures! :goodvibes

Thanks. Aren't they cool? Love them!

I'm glad you had a lazy day yesterday. Sometimes those are the best. Bolt is really cute. Up comes out soon and I can't wait to see that one too.

You're right. A lazy day is good. And Bolt was so cute, so I am looking forward to seeing Up. In fact, I think I may watch Bolt again tonight!

pixiedust: Welcome! I'm so glad you like the TR and pictures. I am so glad to have you following along.

Thanks for that suggestion. I really never thought of it, but I bet my friends would love that, especially my girlfriend. I will definately look into it.

Manntra(sp?) posted pics of EE and having to walk off and all I have to say is I would be butt humping the stairs down. It looked like no railing and there is no way I would trust my legs not to send me tukkus over teakettle.

:rotfl2: OMG - that is too funny. I would probably be doing the same thing. I guess it must be designed with safety features in mind, but geesh! :scared1:

Your Tusker House lunch looks awesome! I'm going to check out that menu to see if it's Baylor friendly or if it will have towait for my birthday trip....:rolleyes1
....

They definately had a kids section for the buffet. Its hard to believe that he couldn't find something he liked there. there was so much to choose from.

Lovely pictures of Harambi! One almost feels that you are in there, if the rest of the park guests would just get out of the way.....

Thanks. Yeah - you can really get the true feel in there. So, so much immersive detail.

Here are some entertaining little ones.....:rotfl:

OMG - :rotfl2::rotfl::lmao: Those pictures are too funny! I really feel for the parents who had to clean up that first mess. Everything is destroyed. But - who would leave white paint around a toddler????? Haha!

I've never tried Tusker House - I'm not big on buffets- but the decor/ambience may just change my mind! I did not try a Lost on Safari on my trip so that is another item on the list for next time! :thumbsup2

See ......there is always another reason to go back! And the list just keeps getting longer and longer. TH was really a good meal. A lot of variety and healthy options.

I am enjoying your "ho-hum" (your words) no drama, smell the roses TR! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
Thank. I'm going to try to incorporate some Disney trivia in some of the future installements!

As long as they aren't (or weren't mine) those are some entertaining kids :rotfl:

You can say that again!

It was fun just sitting around watching mindless movies. Nothing intellectual for this gal! Pure, mindless fun!

This might sound funny but those kinds of TR's are actually relaxing to read...you are taking us along iwth you and it is just lovely!

I'm glad you are finding the TR relaxing. I know I am relying a lot on my pictures because they capture all the different things I was looking and trying to take it.

I adore that ceiling picture. I need to stay away from the photography board or it could start a whole new obsession.

Tusker House looks YUM!

Thanks! I need to start visiting that photography board because I really think I want a whole new hobby.

TH was Yum! I would eat there again, but I still really want to try Y&Y.

Whew! I was about a dozen or so pages behind, but I promised myself that I'd catch up and I did!

Well, its not like you've had nothing else going on in your very
"boring" life! :rotfl: I'm glad you got a chance to catch up before you get ready to leave on your own grand adventure!

I don't think your report is boring; your photos are lovely and you're really giving us the sense of relaxation that comes from touring without the kids!

Awwwww, thanks! It definately is a lot more relaxing seeing the world without the kids!!!!!

Imagine that! :rotfl:

Some Interesting Factoids about the Animal Kingdom......

1. The small, colorful flags seen in Asia are prayer flags, common in the Tibetan culture. They are believed to bring prosperity, long life, and happiness. When they are placed outside, the wind carries their prayers throughout the world.

2. The prayer flags in the AK have generic icons to avoid being considered religious in anyway.

3. The traditionally displayed colors are: yellow, greenm red, white, and blue (left to right) and translate into earth, water, fire, cloud, and sky.

4. Most of the foliage for the AK was hand selected. Many of the seeds came from Nepal.

5. When EE was built the imagineers could not use traditional scaffolding because it obscured the views of the mountains. They created the idea of toothpick scaffolding. Over 2000 steel beams struck straight out of the mountain. These had flat bases for the artists to stand on as they worked. When the mountain range was finished the toothpicks were cut off.

6. The totems in front of EE were carved by Nepalese woodcarvers.

7. All of the benches in the AK are made from recycled milk jugs.

8. The original name for the Oasis was Genesis Gardens, but it was scrapped because of its religious overtures.

So after we left the TH we had so many choices as to what to do next.....

let's see.....there was.....

1. Safari

2. Pangani Trail

3. Maharjah Jungle Trail

4. Rafiki's Planet Watch

5. FOTLK

6. Discovery Island and Tree of Life

What to do???? What to do???????

I really wanted to see the trails but it was soooooo hot. It was almost June hot. So I quickly ruled that out. I asked Denny if he wanted to see FOTLK, to which he replied, "Not really". I had already decided I was going to skip Safari and Rafiki's Planet Watch, well.... I didn't care wether we went there or not.

But one final thing I really wanted to explore was Discovery Island. And I really wanted to get an upclose look at the TOL.

So here's some pics I took after we left TH.......

Mary Ellen, you have some amazing pictures! I'm wondering if we've even gone to Discovery Island...
Can you actually get near the Tree of Life?

All of these facts are so neat, but I like these three the best! :goodvibes

This is a great picture!!! All of your Discovery Island pics are beautiful as well -- we always seem to zip right across the island -- I think we need to spend more time there exploring.

I must admit that AK has always been my least favorite park but your pics are all so gorgeous it's making me think I need to spend more time there and truly appreciate it!

More absolutely beautiful pictures MaryEllen!!! I love them!! Your getting me all excited for AK on Saturday!!!

I love your AK facts!! I still have to make you a list of all my WDW books!! Maybe later today...

You mention something in one of your replies about a 100 lbs camera bag with tripod to take pics of Wishes and Illuminations. I can maybe slove the tripod problem!

Think about one of these...

It's called a gorillapod! I just got one!!

It's about 10 inches tall and weighs literally nothing!

the best part is that the legs are flexible! You can bend them to attach to anything!!

I'm hoping to be able to use it to put the camera on a wall or attach to a fence or the stroller handle!!

I'm super excited about it and I'll let you know how I like it!!

Those are great Animal Kingdom facts. The prayer flags are just so beautiful. Those Disney Details! :thumbsup2

Another great update! I really enjoyed Tusker House for my bday breakfast! You are right the restaurant has great theming!! I really thought it was beautiful!!!! I'm glad you guys had such a great lunch!!! And no worries I'm loving your trip report just the way that it is!

Awesome updates!

I love those "fun facts" from AK. Knowing some of that stuff is the most fun parts of the trip, I think...thanks for sharing that with us!! :thumbsup2
