Fabulous start, I love the way you are both writing it together!
Perfect start. I love the style of writing and the commentary you each add to the other's post!![]()
Great start!! I honestly didn't know Berlin was building a brand new airport - very cool!
Soon, you'll be on the airplane and headed over..looking forward to more!

I want to post more, and will, but it's 2:00AM. I've read your fascinating update!! and will be back tom. when I"m up for comments.
NOW YOU simply MUST read my update!! Go now, do no passs go.![]()

So glad you ladies started! Great beginning, can't wait to read more!
I'm enjoying hearing about the trip from both of your perspectives. It's kind of funny (but unfortunate) how neither of you got a very good night's sleep before traveling.
Good move, Katharina moving to the other room! I do understand what you were saying about being alone to concentrate the eve. before. It always takes extra brain power for me to think about packing and re-packing!

Hey Senor Duck,
You've been a busy poster since I first welcomed you on Jordan's report! You must be really enjoying the boards!!!![]()

Ok, I admit, you do look rather sleepy as you are getting there. Tired, is not a good way to start off a 20 hour travel. But I'm sure some of the excitement of getting to Disney was on your side.
Funny how neither of you got much sleep! And OY! on the tequila and snoring!!Good move, Katharina moving to the other room! I do understand what you were saying about being alone to concentrate the eve. before. It always takes extra brain power for me to think about packing and re-packing!
Fascinating history of the airports! 4!!!??? WOW!! And you know the history of each one?!
I find the word for travel fever interesting! The Russian word for flight (or trip) is Reice as well. I"m sure they are related somehow. Our language also borrows the word, so we use it a lot too. It can be used for trips you take in a car back and forth from somwhere or such. Very useful word!
By the time you are together and ready to check in, you look like your perky selves again?? did coffee contribute to those rosy cheeks, or was it that HORRIBLE freezing weather and "We're going to Disney" glow?![]()
Airports, however, have been very much an issue in local politics here in Berlin over the last year. Tempelhof was closed in October 2008 and there was a strong movement to keep it open. People felt that this was the airport that kept the city alive during the Berlin Blockade. There even is a monument in front of it remembering all the people who lost their lives during the Berlin Airlift (39 Brits, 31 Americans and 13 Germans):
I'm so happy you started!!Loved all your old photos- the castle in Paris looks gorgeous, and Cornwall also looked so beautiful- looking forward to reading both of your perspectives!!

Great start! I neve sleep well the night before my trip either. I always have too many things going through my mind!
But the excitement the next day normally helps surviving on very little sleep.Great start to your TR. I hope you both loved AKL as much as I do.
I enjoyed reading the history of the Berlin airports. Fortunately, it didn't take either of you very long to get there and I am sure you were more than ready to leave that freezing weather!

Hi Magdalene and Katharina,
Page 4! I'm a little late to your TR. Wonderful start!
BTW, Magdalene, love your shorter haircut.
Kathy
Thanks for the compliment on the haircut! I got it cut just before Christmas and really like it short. But it also helps that I lost quite a few pounds since last year...
