We will be at BWV and I'm wondering if we could get to MK by walking thru Epcot and hopping on monorail? We've stayed at Beach Club and the walk into Epcot is lovely so I'm wondering if we could do this or just take the bus to MK? Many have said the bus from BWV takes a bit longer because it stops at Swan and Dolphin. Ideas?

I'm assuming you would need Park Hoppers. Otherwise, Epcot would count as your park for that day.

You can walk, but you have to have park hopper tickets. It could take a while longer because you will have to go through bag check at Epcot and then MK. You also have to change monorails at the TTC. The combined time to walk, wait for a monorail, get off, & wait for another monorail may be longer than riding the bus, even with stops along the way.

I've been thinking about doing this from Beach Club. Obviously Epcot would have to be open first, and yes, we'll need park hoppers. Otherwise I can't see why it wouldn't work. Perhaps it could be faster or slower just depending on timing of monorails and buses? Curious to see what others say!

If you have an annual pass or park hopper option, then yes, you could do it. However, you have to travel during Epcot's open hours. I've done that journey before and I think it beats the bus experience every time. The monorail will probably take longer and the crowds could be bad depending on the time of day. If you are traveling with kids after a long day the walk through Epcot could be tough.

On our last stay at YC, we walked through Epcot to get to MK via the Monorail. As long as you have Parkhoppers you can enjoy your walk through Epcot and then travel on to MK.

YC shared the bus with BC so we did think using the bus to MK was much faster than our earlier walk through Epcot.

I've done it, taking advantage to use a Soarin fastpass on my way to MK. Timewise, I think it's longer than the bus. Last October I was at MK and was going back to BWV mid-afternoon. Since I had not rode the monorail yet, I decided to monorail and walk through Epcot. First, the monorail took a long time to come, at least 10 minutes. I don't know if they were doing a mid-afternoon service check. Then I waited awhile at the Epcot station. Then the part I really regretted was walking in the heat through Epcot when I was ready for a break.

The bus would certainly be a lot faster. You would be there by bus before you even reached the Monorail at Epcot. If they do share resorts the time between the 2 is minimal.

I will admit that the bus experience will be quicker. The walk through Epcot isn't short and then if you time the monorail correctly is may not be too far off time wise, but if not, then it will be a long time.

Thanks all. We do have hoppers and we rented a car but we always do Disney transportation to MK. I guess I will see how the day goes as we are having dinner at California Grill at 9pm. A nice stroll thru Epcot is always fun :) The other option is parking at Contemporary and going to MK. I don't want to cab it back to BWV if we have a car.

We do it because we generally stay at one of the EPCOT resorts and therefore we wouldn't otherwise get a chance to ride the monorail. We have AP's. We did it last December coming back from MVMCP to BWI, because we left MK around 7:30 or 8pm. Of course we made sure that EPCOT was still open. The bus is definitely faster, but we love walking.

A nice stroll through Epcot is nice when it's nice. :) If it's flaming hot, super crowded, or at the end of a long day it could be a lot of footsteps you won't welcome.
I'm sure you know this, just thought I would mention it as I'm old and get plenty of "walking" at WDW without making extraneous trips from point A to point B. :earsboy:

I've done it both ways and it really depends on the time of day and your time schedule. I prefer to do the monorail, just because. I do find I enjoy it more on the way back instead of the way there.
