Frogmommy's "Time for a change" thread - comments welcome

Great job losing that weight and making it official! :cool1: That is nice that you have control over most of your holiday meals. It makes it so much easier! I have a Christmas Eve dinner at my SIL's that will be tough, but that is the only one.

That is so awful about DH's friend's children. I can not even imagine if something ever happened to one of my kids. I would be an emotional wreck, that is for certain!

Bummer about the exercise bike! Can you get it fixed? Do you have a Play It Again Sports by you? They sell quality used equipment. Or the paper always has some too. You'll find something, you are so motivated with your workouts! :cheer2:

Hi-

Doing ok with the diet today. Made another batch of shortbread without eating a bunch of them. Got in my 25 minutes of lower body strength training.

Amy, ty for coming by as often as you do to check in on me. I've sorta let the whole journaling thing go a bit, so I really appreciate you posting. Seems like a little thing, but it's motivating. :)

I got my brother's bike today. The digital readout on it is shot, but other than that it's in good shape. I figure I can pick up a kitchen timer somewhere and be good to go. I actually think I like this bike better - the other was so huge and not real comfortable.

I'm tired and I have an extremely busy day tomorrow, so I'm out. :flower:

I am glad to stop by and keep you motivated! Good thing you were able to get another exercise bike, even if it doesn't have a good display. Have you tried the Body For Life eating plan? I bought the book a couple years ago, but never really did anything with it. I was debating on whether or not to try the eating after the first of the year. I don't know if it's something I could stick to. The only part that seems appealing is eating anything you want one day out of each week... :rolleyes1

Keep it up, you are doing great! :cheer2:

Happy Holidays frogmommy!

You have done awesome on your weight loss lately - good job!!! Sorry to hear your bike decided to bum out on you but glad you were able to get another one. Keep up the good work and have a great holiday!

Keep on

Hi!

Hey Amy - I follow the BFL workout plan but couldn't get into the eating plan. It's too much thinking, lol. I think the idea of having a free day could be dangerous too. I think there is a message board somewhere just for BFL. I'll post it if I find it.

Hi Chris - ty! I love being a member of the 170 club, as long as it's a temporary memebership! I was pretty bummed about the bike too, but I think it worked out well for me. I need to get used to the new one, but I really do like it.

Hi Jen - please don't worry about not being around. I haven't been posting nearly as much as I was. We'll get back into the swing of things next year. ;)

Yesterday's dinner with Mom went pretty well. I think I did ok, and the scale stayed put so I think that's a good thing. Today was ok too, though I need to get more water in. Tomorrow is dinner with Dad and his wife. I'm planning shrimp newburg. Never made it, so I hope it's good. (yikes). I seriously doubt I will lose 2 more pounds by Sunday. With all the eating going on I will be excited if I maintain!

If I don't post again for awhile, Merry Christmas everyone!

Hi there,

So sorry that I have not posted as much as I used to. I love this time of year, but then again I don't. Things seem to be more busy for me. Not sure about others!

You are doing a great job. Sorry to hear that you bike went down hill. At least the good news is that you were able to get one from your brother. That was really nice of him to let you use it.

Hope you have a wonderful Friday. Keep up the great work!

Hi!

Ty Jamie and Jen for visiting. I hope your holidays were wonderful!!

Well, I kinda took a break from dieting and working out the last week. The amazing thing is that as of today I only gained 4 lbs. I really expected it to be much, much worse. I am mostly back on track now. I got in a 30 minute cardio workout today. I think I am going to eliminate my lower body workouts in favor for more cardio - at this stage of the game I think that would be better for me. I will still do upper body and abs. I figure I am still getting plenty of lower body work with 30 minutes on the bike 4-5 days/week. My plan is to try this new routine for the month of January and evaluate my progress at the end of the month.

Happy New Year everyone if I don't make it back again for a few days. :cool1:

Way to go getting back on track after all the holiday splurging! As for your workouts, you have to tweak your plan and find whatever works best for you. If you think you need more cardio, that might be the key to your continued success!

Let us know how it works out. The best thing is that you are still exercising and you are doing great! Those holiday lbs will be gone in no time. :teeth:

Congrats on getting back on track--i know it is so hard after the holidays!!!! great job :)
enjoy your weekend!

Happy New Year, and hope to see you more as we work on this healthy life in 2006!! :sunny:

Happy New Year everyone!

Sooo, I am still carying around those extra holiday lbs, but I am so happy with my progress last year. I actually managed to work on my long standing resolution of losing weight. This year I hope to build on my success. I know there may be ups and downs, but I'm focused and unlike this time last year, I'm not giving up.
My food choices have been OK today. Mom had us over for beans and rice. When I got there she confessed that she had put hog jowls (ewwwwwwwwwwwwww) in the beans. I ate a little and left most of the rice. I also had an amstel lite (I only get these at Mom's - I can't afford them!). I've been having trouble getting in all my water the last week or so. I think I may actually get in 72 oz today, which is probably double what I have been doing.
I was 15 minutes short of my workout challenge for the month of December. Seems lame not to do some kind of exersize, but after the holidays I was spent. Anyway, I did manage to make the transistion to 30 minute cardio sessions and it seems to be going well. My plan for next week is to do 4 cardio sessions and 2 upper body and abs sessions.
Hi Amy- I think you are probably right about the cardio. I just hope I can get all of the planned workouts in. I think if I do I will see some changes.
Hey Jen- Hope you had a great New Years.
Hi Kate- I plan to be here more in 2006, and I look forward to seeing you too!

OK, one new resolution for myself is to get more sleep. So, I think I'm going to head downstairs and fritter around before bed.

I've found that I can never "fit in" the workouts, I have to make time for them! I also have 2 kids so I know how difficult it can be! But you can do it! Your attitude is great and this will be your year! :cheer2:

Hi all

So as of today I've unofficially lost the holiday weight, and my ticker is correct again. YAY. I went through a period earlier this week were I was crazy with munchies. I think it was due to all the refined sugar I ate over the holidays. I made a point to get all my carbs from whole grains and fresh fruits and that seems to have helped a lot. I'm also doing much better with my water.

Hey Amy - it is hard to fit those workouts in, and I also do much better when they are part of the routine, However sometimes I have to be able to change my routine and I'm finding that as more stuff gets thrown at me the harder it is for me to be flexable.

I'm doing ok with my workouts so far this week. I did miss a cardio but I can do it on Saturday and still get it in. I did 30 minutes of cardio today, followed by 40 minutes of yoga that I hadn't scheduled. I'm not including it in my total minutes though because it was a very easy routine designed for relaxation. I was really feeling the need for something to stretch my legs after all that cycling and it fit the bill.

OK, here it is 11:30 again and I'm not ready for bed yet. I did manage to get a little sleep the last few nights during the bowl games, though I'm not sure that falling asleep in front of the tv counts as going to bed early.

Hi there,

Good job on losing all the holiday weight.

You are doing a great job, keep up the good work. Have a wonderful Sunday

Great job getting rid of those holiday pounds! Now you are back where you were, ready to lose some "new" weight!

Keep it up with those workouts! :cool1:

It has been entirely to long since I've stopped in! How ya doing? Congratulations on losing the holiday weight. I'm hoping next week will be my week to get it off. :)
