friend's 5 yr old son on a vent with pneumonia pg 20

I find myself thinking about this brave child and family several times during the day. I have even asked my guardian angel (my Dad who passed in Feb) to see if he could help him out and watch over him for a while.

Positive energy and prayers can help. Still sending well wishes from the New Brunswick Canada.:wizard:

A friend is in ICU fighting for his life from pneumonia caused by H1N1. I just heard that they are preparing to hook him up to an ECMO. I had never heard of it before this thread.

Does anyone know if there are long term cognitive effects from the lack of oxygen in the blood caused by pneumonia?

I don't know the answer to this...

But I am so, so sorry to hear about your friend.

I have heard of lots of people recovering from H1N1 that have had severe infections. ECMO is saving many lives right now. It is also very risky, and if they are using it, then the situation seems dire (that is listed above by a pp, too).

Keep us posted and if you want to give a first name, we can certainly pray for that person. Although, I don't suppose we really need a name. We will just pray for missypie's friend.

Kyree is still stable. Yeah! His levels are all within range. Tes your comments are so right. I am so happy for boring redundant updates. They are such good news. We are all looking forward to the happy celebratory ones!!

Missypie I am so sorry to hear about your friend. If you look for ECMO and H1N1 on line you will see a study in Australia that had really good outcomes for adults on ECMO during Australia's flu season. I thank God that there was one at Kyree's hospital and available. i am very worried when the flu peaks and they are all in use. I understand your fear about oxogen and the brain. It is scary. When Kyree starts to stir it is scary but I find it reassuring that his brain is trying to function. I hope the same for your friend. Another person at my sister's work was just put on a ventalator for complications from H1N1. I know for most people it is mild but when it isn't it is very scary! Prayers for your friend Missypie.

CJ hope your other daughter is also doing well. If the fever comes back after they get well please take them in to be seen right away (I know it is really unlikely but I couldn't help but say it)

thanks again everyone for the prayers! Please continue praying that Kyree is able to stay sedated. Please continue praying that Kyree suffers no complications from the ECMO machine and that it only brings healing. Please pray that his lungs hear. (And pray the same things for Missypie's friend)

Know beyond a shadow of a doubt that your kind thoughts and prayers mean a lot to Kyree's mom and will to Kyree when he is awake as well.

thank you!

Thank you for your much-anticipated update, Jewel! Singing God's praises that things are progressing well for Kyree!! As an aside, pray for CJBaby's children who had (has?) high fevers. My DD is fine (again thanking God) but I added CJ's dauaghters to my prayer list. Also the PP who's friend is very sick with pneumonia due to the flu. In fact, anyone who needs prayers, you've come to the right channel! God bless you all, and keep Kyree and his family wrapped in God's warm and loving hands.

Looks like we need to add more people to the prayer list - and I'm afraid the list is just going to continue to grow - with the delay in getting the vaccine out where it's readily available.. :(

Prayers will be said for all tonight..

I am so glad to hear Kryee is still stable. That is such good news.

Missypie, I am praying for your friend too. May God heal his lungs and give strength to his family.:hug::hug:

Sending good thoughts:goodvibes your friends way and to everyone touched by H1N1. Good to hear that little boy is stable.

I am really trying not to cry as I read this thread. Thank you so much for praying for my son and daughter. God is amazing and is showing Himself through the loving people on this thread. I am continuing to pray for Kyree and his loved ones and I'm also praying for Missypie's friend, and for all the intentions of those in this thread. I pray that my 6 yo dd is finally turning a corner and geting rid of this virus, ( I really feel that your prayers have been helping,) and I pray that my 2 yo ds does not have any complications either. I pray for the day to come very soon that Kyree's Mom is thanking God for pulling them both through this trying time. I pray for God's peace to enter her heart as He works His miracles on Kyree. I pray that something brightens their stay in the hospital and keeps them both strong. I know that God is listening.

I am so happy to log on and see there is some positive news for this little one. Lets hope he's turned that corner and is starting to make a full recovery. Many prayers for little Kyree.

We both serve the same God - and I will gladly pray for your children anytime.

I continue to send up prayers for Kyree and his family. Prayers of thanksgiving being said that he is stable.

CJ -- sending healing prayers to your children and some comfort to you.

Missypie -- healing prayers for your friend as well.

Glad to hear he is improving. So hard to see a little guy on a heart and lung machine. Prayers sent your way!!

As of 11pm Kyree was having a calm stable night - Yeah for calm and stable! I will update more this evening.

Thanks for the continued positive thoughts and prayers for continued stability and no complications on the ECMO machine and healing for his lungs!

Jewel, Praying again this morning for Kyree to remain stable and all is calm.

CJ, Praying for your little ones.

Missypie, Praying again for your friend.

Calm and stable is very exciting! :cheer2: God is hearing the prayers we are lifting up for this child.:goodvibes

Continuing to pray for all those loved ones who are sick. May they all be touched by His mighty healing hands.

Jo

Thanks so much everyone. I never post anyone's real name on a message board, but I think I will make an exception for you prayer warriors. My friend's name is Sid. They are waiting a few more hours before they hook him up to the ECMO because they consider it such a drastic move. His Caringbridge site is amazing...due to moves and traveling, Sid has friends praying for him on all continents except Australia. So when you pray for Sid, I'm pretty sure God will know who you're talking about.

Jewel Kyree is still on my prayer list. We all can't wait until he's up and running, and with God's love and grace that will be soon. Please keep up with the updates - I think of him and his family (and you, and how you yourself are holding up - you're in my prayers as well, Missy!!!) frequently during the day and keep sending up prayers and positive energy. I'm channeling an inner cheerleader I never knew existed!!!:thumbsup2

CJ - hoping and praying all is well with your children. Praying for the kids as well as you!!

Missy - please keep us updated on Sid. Sending prayers his way as well (and to you, of course:hug:).

I am POSITIVE God knows I have been talking about. But now I have a name to put on my little prayer list by my desk. So that will help me remember to pray for him often.

Hang in there and keep us posted.

Still praying for all on this thread!!!
