friend's 5 yr old son on a vent with pneumonia pg 20

Poor little guy. I'm sending prayers his way! Boy, flu season has really hit hard and early this time!

Prayers for Kyree's quick and full recovery!

Prayers have been said for Kyree and his family. It's scary, but HE WILL BE OK!

Thanks everyone for your prayers and well wishes. I told them through my sister who stayed with the family today.

Kyree is still fairly the same. Still on the vent. His fever is pretty high. They think he had swine flu first although it hasn't been confirmed but everyone treating him is wearing masks. He was very asymptomatic when he went to the er. Things escalated very quickly and he was transfered to the major hospital in the area.

I am just so glad that his mom took him in when she did instead of waiting. He is sedated but when the sedative starts to wear off he does move around a bit. They are saying that is a good sign.

He is a very strong little guy. A week ago at a charity carnival he was helping out a farmer with the hay ride. He stayed on every trip and took the tickets form everyone and made sure they were all sitting down. He was so cute trying to lift the hay bales, but they were a bit too big for him. He was so focused on doing a good job to help the farmer as they took each hay ride out. I know all of his energy and strength will help him in this battle.

It is so scary how quickly things can change. Thanks for all the positive thoughts.

Will pray for the poor little guy.. :(

Here is hope and beleiving everything will be alright, my dd has spina bifida, weighing in at 60 pounds and in Aug. got pnuemonia and was on a vent in the ICU, she stayed in the hospital 17 days and she is now home safe and sound and recovered. All things are possible with prayer. God be with them I KNOW it's hard!!! Keep the faith! :grouphug:

I send you and yours the best wishes I can muster.

I had pneumonia earlier this year. I don't have asthma and otherwise, I'm a healthy plus-sized gal.

Let me tell you: I was knocked on my backside for three weeks but I came out okay. The turning point was finding the right anti-biotic.

I'm sure he's in the best of hands!

Kyree had a stable night. His temp, while still there, was lower so they were able to remove the ice packs. His blood pressure is stablized as well. While still a very sick little guy he is definitely holding his own. thank you for all the prayers and good thoughts!

:grouphug:

Such wonderful news Kyree is showing improvement, thx for the update! Continued prayers this sweet child has a full recovery.

Poor baby! My thoughts and prayers are with Kyree and his family.

Good news that he is stabilizing.

Just a quick FYI, Asthmatics do not need to be sick to get Pneumonia. The mucus in our airways is supposed to carry normal infectious stuff or even plain irritants in the air around us all the time out of our bodies. In a healthy person the germs & little particles just stick and flow out. But an Asthmatic's body is inefficient at clearing the mucus. Add to that the fact that when someone is having an allergic response or are sick they make more mucus in addition to swelling the airways, which makes them cough, which irritates the airways and on & on. Now you have a body that is perfectly primed for growing the microbes that get stuck while being less capable of defending itself.

Asthma is so delicate. All you need is something to trigger a flare up and then any little thing on top of it can spiral out of control at the speed of light. Poor Kyree, my heart breaks for him and his family.

Great news and thanks for the update!!! My prayers will continue until he's 100% better.

Kyree update.
The doctors learned that he has a staph infection in one lung and pnuemonia in both. They are uping the antibiotics. he is also on tamiflu. His temperature is back up and they have him ice packs again. Despite the set backs he is still holding his own.

His mom is grateful for all prayers and positive thoughts. They help keep her spirits up.

I will continue to include Kyree in my prayers.. He sounds like one very sick little boy..:(
