Kyree is still much the same as yesterday. The doctor's told his mom last night that he will most likely get sicker before he gets better and to prepare for more ups and downs. They are hoping to get the staph infection under control. He still has a high fever and is on ice packs.

Kyree update.
The doctors learned that he has a staff infection in one lung and pnuemonia in both. They are uping the antibiotics. he is also on tamiflu. His temperature is back up and they have him ice packs again. Despite the set backs he is still holding his own.

His mom is grateful for all prayers and positive thoughts. They help keep her spirits up.

Oh gosh. Staph. Glad they cultured it and hopefully have him on the right antibiotics now.

How is he doing? Is he better?

I hope so!

Thanks for the well wishing and prayers. My little buddy Kyree is still going through a very difficult time. They had to insert two chest tube to drain fluid and air that is in his chest. The first one didn't appear to work. The fluid build up etc is causing the vent to be less efficient. They think he somehow has a small hole in is lung. I am hoping is not correct as the infection could spread but it appears likely due to the air in his chest. The doctors still have hope, but the comments to his mom are more serious.

The next 24 hours are very critical for him. Please pray that his little body stays strong and that healing begins. Please pray that what ever other procedures are needed cause no harm but only bring healing. Please also pray for Kyree's mom. She is holding up well but I know she is exhausted physically and emotionally.

An uplifting story:

9 year old came into PICU 4 weeks ago. She had aspiration pneumonia and became septic. Started out on conventional Ventilator then went to Oscillator Vent. Going down hill fast. Placed on ECMO(extracorporeal membrane oxygenation). Had 3 chest tubes. Many antibiotics. Very, very serious. Docs thought it was the end but she turned. She was a little fighter!

1 week ago I extubated her and placed her on a nasal cannula. She went to the floors yesterday. And her brain has no damage!!!

Never, never give up hope. I have seen miracles.

Thank you Poppins for that information. I think that the extracorporeal membrane oxygenation is one of the things they are discussing (heart lung machine - I think) and it was so frightening to hear about that. It just seems like such a drastic measure. Hearing a positive story like that helps restore hope - thank you

Thx for the update, but I'm so sorry the news in not more positive and can only imagine everyone's worry for this sweet child. Sending prayers his excellent medical care will help his little body show improvement soon as his guardian angle protects him and he begins to heal. Wow! I don't have any PI experience, but from my days working in the NICU with oscillators and ECMO, that really is a miracle story!


I hope little Kyree's story has an equally happy ending. He'll be in my prayers tonight.
