Friendly guest-interaction stories!

I'm not sure if my story fits in here but I'll give it a try... my last Disney trip was when I was pregnant of my first child. I wasn't feeling very good and after a hole day in bed I had to be in wheelchair for the rest of my vacation. What at first seemed something sad turned to be a good thing, because everyone was so nice to me, not only CM's but people in general. I remember being "pushed around" in MGM and one of the street performers began to joke with me and asking me if I ever wanted a Taxi, just to called him and he gave me his card..
We went to Fantasmic and there was only standing section, but a CM found us a spot for me to be in my wheelchair and 2 seats for my DH and his brother. Also we had a nice Spectromagic spot, first time ever in first row! So something that threatened my vacation turned to be a blessing! I remember so many friendly people concerned with me (I needed to be lying down as possible and sometimes I lied down on a bench) and I just need to thank them for their kindness and this is a good way! Thanks whoever you are! Thanks to show your concern when people are not feeling good in the most Magical Place on Earth! :cloud9: :grouphug:

This is something that was odd but cute that happened to us, but parents, not everyone is like me and my husband.

My husband and I were getting in line for Splash Mountain, and this gentleman came up to us and asked us if we wanted his fast pass tickets, we were very happy about this, so we get in line but I guess he just didn't want to go and his 3 daughters followed us and said that their dad said to come with us, they were younger, we are young, mid-20s, so they followed us on, and rode in the same boat as us, well one of the daughters didn't want to ride with her sisters and insisted on sitting inbetween my husband and I for the ride. The ride gets done and they girls were really happy and said thank you to us and the father was by the photo booth, and we stopped there to see the pictures and this is the strange part...the father purchased the photo. Odd but they were a nice family. Thought it was funny and wanted to share.

We were in a looong line at Blizzard Beach a few years ago (I would love to see FastPasses at the water parks!) when the man in front of us just struck up a conversation. I'll admit I thought it was odd at first until he explained that he always talks to strangers in line in order to let his kids find out about other parts of the world He asked us a a lot of questions about life down South and told us a bit about life in New Jersey. His two DS's asked my (much older) kids about school. His boys had met people from Japan and Ireland that trip. I thought that was pretty cool

We are like BeNJeNWaFFLe, my DD and DH like to play the video games at the resorts and usually DH will find someone who is not doing too well and give his tickets to them. The last time we went with DD, she headed out to the arcade and when she came back she had given most of her tickets to someone else.

On our last trip we had got FP's for Tower of Terror. We went and rode RnRC and came back to ToT. The line was short so we did the stand by line. When we came off, we still had our FP and the time had just came up. So I turned to two people that were headed to the stand by line and gave them our FP's. They were surprised as was my DH. I said we had already been and didn't need them so they could have them.

I talk to different people all the time on buses and such. I love talking to others. One year DD & I took wedding bubbles and gave them to some kids (after asking the parents) to keep them entertained in line. We also gave out stickers too. DH thought we were nuts. But we had fun.

This is a great thread! :thumbsup2

We met alot of wonderful people on the bus rides to and from the parks. We met so many people from various places and everyone was so friendly. We met a couple and their children who were from the UK. They hung out with our family at AK for the day and we had a blast. They would occasionaly ask us what something meant and we would tell them. DS8 thought they were the greatest. It was so much fun to meet people that were just going to Disney to enjoy themselves like we were! :)

I have several of them, but here are a couple from our Spring Break trip this year.

We were staying at AS Sports, and were in line at the bus stop to AK behind a lady with two "tween" boys. We chatted with them (we do this all the time!), and found out they were from OK, had just driven there. The lady was the boy's aunt, and she was treating them to this trip. She hadn't been in a long time, so I was talking about fast pass, making sure she understood how it worked. We ended up hanging out with them for most of the morning and helping them get "the ropes" of touring the parks. It was really enjoyable.

That same trip, I was going into the fast pass entrance to Soarin (always a very busy place). There was an older couple there trying to understand how fast pass worked, but the CM was really swamped just checking FPs and didn't have time to explain it to them. I took the couple aside and explained where to get the FPs, and how they worked. About an hour later, I was in Innoventions with my DS, and they came up and thanked me for taking the time to explain it. We spent another 20-30 minutes talking about how to get around in WDW more easily, etc.

We met a very nice family from Canada at our resort on our last trip.

Kind of off topic, but we also met a real nice CM who worked in our resorts's food court who lived a couple of towns away from ours. Poor girl was kind of homesick.

Usually DH and I are the ones who do little pixie dust spreading. We give up our seats on the bus, we hand over any arcade tix to the nearest kid, we offer to let youngsters move to the front for parades and such.

At LTT last October we were dressed as Annette and Cubby (the Mouseketeers) for MNSSHP. About 10 minutes into dinner, the mom at the table behind us comes over and taps me on the shoulder. She;d been trying to work up the gumption ask me to pose in a picture with her daughters (maybe 4 and 9). She and her DH were HUGE fans of MMC and were ecstatic about the photo op. I may not look like Annette but I was honored (and the costumes were pretty good). We chatted for a bit and Dh and I still giggle with glee over the thought of being in someones vacation pics.

Today I had the BEST interaction with a guest. I was working with Pooh at Pooh's Playground, and a guest asked me if me and Pooh could help him out with proposing to his girlfriend! :goodvibes They were from England and Pooh was her favorite character. It was great. When they got up to Pooh he slipped me the ring in the box and I gave it to Pooh, who then in turn gave it to her. He got down on his knee and asked her the question. She started crying and said yes! Everyone in line starting clapping. So that has got to be one of my favorite experiences so far.

We had so many nice guest encounters it's hard to remember just one. Most people we came across were friendly and chatted with us. I met people from Texas, California, lots of upstate New Yorkers, Canada, Pennsylvania, and even my home state of Illinois. We did the Family Magic Tour (btw I HIGHLY recommend it) and all the families on the tour were so much fun. We had to do lots of goofy things and everyone was a good sport. If anyone came across a 12 yr old boy with curly blond hair giving tips to beat the heat (free ice water, cutting through stores) that would have been my son. There were nice people everywhere we went.

I didn't actually see Feralpeg, but she made the most wonderful birthday basket for me to share with my kids and even threw in some extras. Her lovely business will definitely be missed. I'm glad I got to order from her.

This may be slightly OT but on my birthday, we went to see Fantasmic for the second time on our trip. I had my bday pin on and I tried to buy some cotton candy, the CM handed it to me and said "Happy Birthday". I started to dig for my money and she said "ahem, I said Happy Birthday" winked and walked away. Also that night, by the time we got there it was Standing Room Only and my kids decided we should just forget and go back to the room. A CM said "Happy Birthday" then asked me why we looked so sad (I think we were all just tired :confused3 ) and I said "well we're leaving there are no seats" and he said "On your birthday? Hold on let me see what I can do" He found us seats! It was so nice, he was so sweet about it. I made sure I stopped and talked to a manager type guy on the way out of the show, and it was his supervisor. He wrote it down and said he'll get recognized and it will go in his permanent record. :goodvibes
