Fried Snickers Anyone???

Not exactly what you call food:

Deep fried Snickers or Mars bars - This junk 'food' packs over 450 calories and about 30 grams of fat, and a king size will deliver more than 700 calories and 44 grams of fat which includes Trans Fat. Another heart disease on a stick offering.

Our state fair always has a fried sweets option. The fried Snickers are really enjoyable (as are fried oreos and fried smores). Of course you can't LIVE on food like this, but they are enjoyable on a limited basis. It really is delicious. Give one a try! :thumbsup2

They are SO good! DH and I have made them at home and love them. I know it sounds gross, but they taste great.

I've never had a fried Snickers, but fried Oreos are delicious!!! Both (as well as some other fried snack items) are popular at the Jersey shore on the boardwalks. I thought the Oreo sounded gross, but they really are good. Everything kind of melts together. Luckily though the opportunity to have a fried oreo does not come along very often since I imagine they are quite bad for you!! But having one every now and then can't hurt

Cooke's aside, this sounds so Southern, it's not even funny. I'm of a mind a cinderblock would be good deep fried.

Never had a fried snickers, but had fried Oreos at the state fair last fall. Not bad, zero nutritional value, but it's all good in moderation, yes?

If you are on the dining plan you can use a CS at Cookes.

Fish and Chips, drink and a Doh bar for dessert. Of course you cannot eat all of that but its fun to try.:woohoo:

Fan of the Doh Bar here. Love them! I've used both a snack credit to get one and while eating a meal there, also got one as a dessert for my CS meal.

Does anyone know how they make them? They are soo awesome!

The things you learn in my line of work.

Fried candy bars, nutter butters, oreos, ding dongs, twinkies, cheesecake are all made basically the same way: the item in question is chilled or frozen (we always freeze the twinkies and the candy bars to help prevent too much melt-down, but things like oreos and nutter butters we just chill) and then dunked into a batter that resembles pancake batter - sweet, fluffy, beaten light so it will cook quickly. The whole thing is lowered into the oil (at a temperature generally a bit higher than what is used for french fries or chicken tenders or those kinds of foods - different fryer vats) and fried until the coating is golden-brown-and-delicious (NO Alton Brown). The idea is to have the coating cook quick enough to avoid total melt-down of the thing inside, hence the chill/freeze beforehand.

I will ocasionally take a bite of a twinkie, but really can't fathom eating any of the other things - but my employees fight over the leftovers... :hyper:

We tried one in June at the CS in DTD..it was gross...the candy had melted down to nothing but hot nuts!

Just thought you guys might want to know;)

Does that happen in the US? I hope some other country is perpetrating this evilness! Plus it makes me feel almost virtuous for just dipping my fries into my chocolate milkshake!:snooty:
