I've never heard of such a thing! Since I abhor pickles, I just cringe at the thought. Dh would love to have one, though. I'll have to see it to believe it, though.
Northern girl, born and bred...never heard of fried pickles or boiled peanuts. Don't the peanuts lose their flavor??groover said:As I look at the hometowns of the people who claim fried pickles sound gross, I can't help but note that most are from the north.

I bet most of those people who have never had fried dill pickles have never had boiled peanuts either. Another southern delicacy.
This recipe sounds great!Mr_P_Bear said:Here is a recipe variation:
Take some Klausen sandwich stackers and dry them off thouroughly. Put them in flour and shake them off until they are barely covered and dry. Dip in an egg wash (a beaten egg with a couple of tablespoons water) and put them back in the flour. Put them back in the egg wash and now into Panko japaneese style bread crumbs. After coating let them sit for a bit while your oil comes up to temp. I used a Frydaddy and once it was hot fry until they are golden brown and delicious. After frying sit them on papertowels and sprinkle with Kosher salt (it doesn't melt so fast and is handy for sprinkling).
Enjoy.
/I watch too much Good Eats
// Yes I know Alton would not recommend paper towels but it was faster than describing the draining rig.
Yes it is. I think I must have been pretty young when they closed down. I thought they were like a quick drive thru place like In and Outs. I didn't realize they sold beer. That must be why my Dad loved them so muchMPierce said:I had completely forgotten about Lums. They were a great place to grab a bite to eat. I still have one of the giant beer mugs from there. To bad they went out of business.
Cold Beer on tap, Giant Franks steamed in beer, the best Roast Beef sandwiches anywhere, and fantastic greasy Fried Pickles!mama4 said:Yes it is. Grits covered in butter, greens saturated in pepper sauce, and a side of Fried Pickles. Life doen,t get any better than that!Cool-Beans said:Northern girl, born and bred...never heard of fried pickles or boiled peanuts. Don't the peanuts lose their flavor??
But my uncle from Texas City, TX made sure that we had grits! He tried to get me to eat "greens," but that is just a wee bit too adventurous for me.
If Disney ever sells fried pickles, I'll grab me one.
