They used to have them at the Wildhorse saloon at Pleasure Island, but since that closed I haven't seen them anywhere.

Add a good dose of salt and pepper. Mix up really good. Now, take your sliced dill pickles, like the kind you eat on a hamburger, and dip in the egg mixture. Then dip in the cornmeal mixture. Then fry turning after a couple of minutes. Take out of hot oil and drain on paper towels. You can eat them just like that or if you are patient enough to pour some ranch dressing, dip them in that. So easy and soooooo good.

We--more correctly I, the guys were freaked--had these in Alabama some years back. Fried pickles went real well with the fried frog! I thought DSthen12, DH & DFIL were going to get up from the table & leave me there to munch by my lonesome!

Hey, I didn't pack on these pounds by sticking to salads!
Thanks for the recipe!
Now, I feel like frying up a candy bar!

Lol. My dh is from Minnesota. He looked at me as if I was crazy the first time I mentioned boiled peanuts around him. He's tried them but thinks they are grossjjarman said:I bet most of those people who have never had fried dill pickles have never had boiled peanuts either. Another southern delicacy.
I had completely forgotten about Lums. They were a great place to grab a bite to eat. I still have one of the giant beer mugs from there. To bad they went out of business.mama4 said:The first time I had these was in the late 70's/early 80's at a fast food place called Lums. I fell in love with them. My dad would take me just for the fried pickles. I think they are a lot like fried green tomatoes also but they aren't quite as greasy.
