Which would you rather go to Hoop Dee Doo or Mickey's Backyard BBQ from both a food and entertainment aspect? I have been to Hoop Dee Doo before and had a great time. We are going with 4 adults and 5 kids (ages 1 to 5).

Definitely Hoop Do Doo.

We did not like the BBQ. It was hot, crowded, and chaotic. DD (5 at the time) made me promise we would never go there again, lol. We even left early. She couldn't get anywhere near the characters. They were mobbed every time they came out and DD got pushed to the side. Parents swarmed the dance floor trying to take pics and video of their kids. They would stand up all around the dance floor and if DD was at the table she couldn't see. It was also hot and humid the day we went, and I had a hard time enjoying my food (not much appetite). They called us up to the buffet by seating sections, so getting our food wasn't too bad. You could also have as many mickey bars and popsicles as you wanted. ;)

To be fair, there were plenty of kids who appeared to be having a great time. The band was good, and the lariat guy was very entertaining.

I was wondering the same thing OP! jcemom thanks for the review and the photo :scared1: That looks a bit too chaotic for us, DD really enjoyed HDD when we went in '08 so we'll do it again for our Grand Gathering :grouphug:

With the ages of the four kids being all under 5 I would think the Mickeys Backyard BBQ would be funner for them. I have never been to either but I have seen them on You Tube and I think the kids would probably get bored with HDDR because of the jokes and comedy that really wasn't meant for pre-schoolers. If they are easily entertained and sit well during dinners or a movie, they may be able to make it through 2 hours of singing and dancing at HDDR. Maybe the music and colors will keep their attention. But if there a couple of toddlers in the bunch that might be a full time job keeping a couple of toddler from melting down during a 2 hour dinner show.

We just had 6 adults and 4 kids (11, 6, 5 and 4) at HDDR last week and the kids all LOVED it.

I TOTALLY DISAGREE with this opinion. I have been to HDDR as a family with school age children, as a 3 generation family including children the ages of yours, and as an all adult group. Each time we ALL had a blast. My grandchildren, now 8 and 10 still talk about the HDDR and how much fun they had.
We love it and I would definitley recommend it to you.

My DS 7 LOVES the HDDR. I had to book it again for him for Aug. I was going to skip it this yr since we have seen it the last 3 yrs. He loves it. The show is really cute and funny. And I dont like hee haw kind of stuff but I'll admit it I love the HHHD. The free sangria doesnt hurt either.;)
Sorry I have never been to the BBQ but you can meet Mickey at Chef Mickey and I think GG. We have ADRs at CM GG and CP.
