Back story: I had been putting off and putting off any sort of training for the marathon. My back has been bothering me for the last several months. In April I suddenly went from working part time to working 50-60 hours a week. I wasn't able to get to Curves with that work schedule and the last thing I wanted to do after work was exercise!
THEN, I gained back 10 pounds while in WDW in May and another 10 since then! I am so mad at myself!

Anyway, after my sister telling me she thinks I'll just be an observer and cheerer at the half-marathon, I decided I'd better get busy!! My back has been better, work has let up (now only working about 43-46 hours a week), so I decided it was now or never! I bought myself and my daughter bicycles so we could go riding together (although I found out I can't do that on a HOT day or I end up dizzy and sick and laying in someone's yard! ). I started back to Curves last week, have been TRYING to get back on WW, and have started using the treadmill at work. Then yesterday morning, while bending over in the shower, I broke a rib! YIKES!! Now I'm back to being barely able to walk slowly, nevermind walking on a treadmill, Curves, or bicycle-riding.

Oh well, at least I can try to start eating healthy again. That shouldn't hurt my rib!:p

OMG Debbie, I'm sorry to hear about your rib! Just when you were trying to get back on track, too!

Well, eating healthy is a good way to start, & there's no reason you can't do that. Check in here more often & let us support you on your way to a more healthy lifestyle. That's something else you can do even with a broken rib! :wave2:

BTW, next time you come to WDW please let us know you're here! Barry & I would love to see you again! :sunny:

OUCH Debbie! That hurt just reading it!!:( Hope you mend quickly and can get back to your exercising before the weather turns cold on us!

Onward & Downward!!

:sunny:

So sorry to hear about your pain - I hope you recover quickly!

Hi Nancy, I'll be at WDW from 1/5/05-1/11/05. My first solo trip! I'd love to see you and Barry again!

Hi Kim and disboo, thanks for the responses and encouragement.

My plan for this coming week is to count my points (hopefully not going over :p ), and drinking LOTS of water and less soda. I've been BAD about that lately!

Hi Debbie,

I, like you, hurt myself back in March. I couldn't walk more than a few steps without my leg hurting. I went for physio and they told me that I shouldn't run because that the injury I have can happen again very easily. After 6 weeks of resting my leg, ie no stairs, not much walking, not paying attention to what I'm eating I had put on 8 pounds. I didn't feel that I was even going to be able to attempt the half marathon. After a few more weeks all of a sudden my leg didn't hurt at all.

I decided three weeks ago to start training and it's going fine. The thought of my three sisters with Donald medals and me with a fine t-shirt was too much. If I don't finish the marathon (to me 13 miles is a marathon), it won't be because I didn't try.

One day at a time...but those number of days is getting smaller and smaller until we'll be at the starting line, fireworks going off and us WISH walkers bringing up the rear. I can't wait.:Pinkbounc :bounce:

Oh no!! Poor Debbie!!

Here's a

to help with your rib. Just rest and heal yourself and soon you will be able to start training again. We still have plenty of time!

You can use this time to focus on your food and water!
