Andrew is exactly like that! He's happy for me, but doesn't really want to hear about all the details.

How ironic, that was totally me as well. I'd be all, "I don't even want to know what's been said about me or our trips." I guess I thought ignorance was bliss.

I'm CRAZY about planning! I've already read the Unnofficial Guide cover to cover. I also read ALL the menus over at Allears. Planning just gives me such a rush!

OMG, you sound like Wendy, or viceversa. She and Jordan have annual Birnbaum's WDW guides (we have 2001-2006 in our office and the other half is boxed in our garage)!

Thanks for coming! Yeah, I was thinking of starting my PTR earlier, but it felt like too early! Hopefully this PTR will help these next 4 months fly by

The time will definitely fly by quickly and now you're inspiring me to create my first PTR for our Alaska cruise next year...but I have plenty of time to start that (and Wendy reminds me that I shouldn't have enough time to manage my own PTR...at least like Jordan does)

Chapter 8.I like free things

Inspired by what Derek said about Jordy and Wendy's collection of Birnbaum's guides since 2001, I'd like to show y'all my own collection of yearly Disney collectibles.

It's still a pretty small collection for now, but it will surely expand in the years to come. Here are the free planning DVDs and free booklets you can order from the Disney website.

I started collecting these the year after my first trip in 2006.

Disney Planning DVD 2007:

2008, Year of a Million Dreams:

Not much of a difference, but I think this is the year they started to put the years on the package?

2009:

2010:

DCL 2007-2008:

I really liked this one because this book came with stickers and checklists for you!

Adventures of Disney 2010:

My 2009-2010 DCL dvd is in the mail.

I've tried ordering the DVC dvd many times, but it doesn't seem to register my postal code, even after I choose "Canada" as the country.

Oh, I just noticed that the inside pamphlets that come with the dvds are different too.

2007, this is the only year I got 2 pamphlets, one for WDW and one for DL. After this year, I would choose WDW as my main interest. The dvds would still have info on DL. I think I might start to choose DL, just to see the variation in those pamphlets:

2008, it came with a slip announcing the closure of Pleasure Island in the fall :

2009:

2010:

I've actually watched ALL of the dvds at least twice.

If you've guessed that there isn't much variation in the dvds, then you're right. I've pretty much got the whole script memorized. What changes is some of the images you see of the parks. There's also an option called "Recent additions" that talk about the latest attractions and the upcoming ones too.

All the dvds also start off with an intro to the year's promos.

One of my favourite parts of the dvd is where they follow a group of 6 pre-teens through the parks and show the park through their eyes. It's very well directed and gives you a better idea of the attractions. I think it needs to be updated though. It's been the same video since 2007. They should make a new one to promote the new attractions WDW now has.

Well, there ya have it folks. My friends think I'm crazy. This is my own little way of keeping the magic alive in my life. Watching these dvds and reading the booklets really bring me back. Whenever I'm feeling down, all I have to do is pop in a dvd and make myself feel better

I too have all those DVDs. I know I have 2005-2006 (Happiest Celebration on Earth and probably my favorite of them all), 2007-2008, 2009 and 2010. I also have the script basically memorized. I think it's time for an update!

Awww, but I love the script! I think they should update the parts where the CM's give their experiences.

Love the sunglasses! They're adorable - the colors are great! I have to wear prescription sunglasses so I'm stuck with one pair. I used to wear contact lenses but I scratched my cornea pretty bad and can't wear them now. Years back when XBox 360 was first out I lost my mind and decided to wait in line before Christmas at a computer store trying to get one for my son. I got there at 3am and waited until 6am when they handed out tickets for the XBox. Of course they ran out of tickets by the time they got to me. I was exhausted and disappointed that I didn't get one. I had my car keys and cell phone in the same hand. As I was walking to my car, my cell phone rang and I put it up to my face and I stabbed my eyeball with my key! It was one of the most painful things that's happened to me!

Well, you inspired me to crack open the DCL DVD that's been on my desk for a week and the videos are taking me back to our past Disney cruises...sigh. Oh, how I miss the category 2, two-bedroom stateroom with a verandah the length of 3 normal rooms.....I see why these DVDs extend the memories of your trips...I only wish that I kept them over the years.

I also loved the video of the Disney Dream due out in 2011....it almost makes me want to plunk down a deposit for a 2012 cruise in conjunction with Jordan's Peepfest....but alas, my wallet is screaming to me, "Are you nuts!".

I see all 3 of us are on and lurking the same TRs....maybe we should jump over to Jordan's Peeps and see if we can hold a video chat session so at least we won't have to type and lurk (I've never tried out the feature but turned it on on JPs).
