Frequent flyer miles and Travelocity questions

Delta now uses American Express for their FF miles. This is not convenient for me so I stuck with U.S. Bank (Deltas old card). You have to book with Travelocity with this card and I was wondering if anyone has experience with booking with FF miles with Travelocity, especially with Delta. What do you do if there is a flight or plane change? Is it a hassle and do you go through Delta or Travelocity?

Does US Bank send the miles to your Delta Skymiles account? Or are the miles in an account with US Bank?

If you are referring to the Flex Points rewards card issued by US Bank they do not issue Delta miles. You receive travel points.

if it works like the Capital One No Hassles Reward card you simply buy a ticket as usual and then go to their website and apply your points toward the travel charge on your statement.

I have no problems using Travelocity and when there is a schedule change I deal directly with the airline.

Be careful with the "travel points" cards. The Capital One No Hassles Reward card markets itself as easy to use rewards, travel anytime, earn double miles, etc. But in reality your points to not have as strong a value and the redemption categories are tiered so you are hardly ever maximizing your rewards.

My boss had this card and I told him for months it was a waste. He didn't listen until he went to book a reward and FINALLY understood.

Now he has the British Airways Visa and just booked 3 $2,000 coach class tickets for 120,000 miles ($96k in spending). That would have required 600,000 miles ($300k in spending) using a Capital One "No Hassles" reward card.

We booked a non-Disney trip (Seattle) through the US Bank card's Flexperks program. There is a link on the US Bank website (when you log into your account) to redeem the miles. We travel later this week, so hope all goes smoothly. The booking went fine. Great deal at only 20k miles/ticket ($400 max).

Be careful with the "travel points" cards. Capital One lets you pay for your travel eligible purchases and then request a statement credit. Ask the hotel to put $350 (or whatever tier you want to use) on your Capital One card and then put the balance on a different credit card. I'm not sure if you could put both charges on the Capital One card. SW gives you full credit if you need to change your flights. You can book a $345-$350 ticket (find a flight that equals $350 may take some time) cancel it and use the credits to partially pay for your real flight.

The miles are in an account with US Bank. They are actually points.
