My family is planning a trip, or today we are starting to plan, a trip for May 2008. Last time we (my family plus my parents and siblings)stayed at Riverside for the first time because we needed to sleep five in each room. This time we will have to get more rooms because the children that were under two are now way past two. My kids loved Riverside, but I remember us also loving French Quarter in the past. For those who have a preference, please give input. I have read in the past that the bus situation is better at French Quarter?

French Quarter is our favorite moderate!!! We like that it's much smaller and very easy to get around... especially after a loooooong day at the parks ;) .

Are the children still under 3? Then you can still stay 5 in a room at POR. All children "UNDER 3" do not count toward the room total.

This could save you a lot of money.

This is our first trip but we picked POFQ simply for the fact that it is small and the less walking we have to do to get to our room after a day at the parks the better!

Riverside, they both are nice, but we prefer Riverside, more peaceful and secluded.

My family really likes Riverside. It is so beautiful and relaxing. We are staying again this year.

I think its down to how much pool use you want, and whether you want a slide in it!

I prefer Riverside on the whole but FQ has the bigger main pool (and slide) if thats likely to swing it for youpirate:

i've only visited POR superficially, but I fell in love with POFQ and have stayed there multiple times. smaller, always the first to be dropped off the bus. quiet, serene.

Stayed at POFQ last year and we are staying again this year -- last time before DD turns 3. We love its size and the pool. However, if your kids are older than about 8 I think they will get bored with the pool. Mine are 6.5, 5.5, and 2.5. When we visit in the years to come I think we will first move to POR and use the trundle bed, then when they are too big I think I would like to try CSR as the pool looks really great for tweens. Of course there is always the deluxes but I would rather vacation twice per year than spend the extra $$$.

We've generally stayed at POFQ and loved the food court (the beignets!), the lobby, and the themeing in general. I love the way it feels like being in a mini city...with the street signs and the way there are sidewalks for the paths...and of course all the little courtyards and fountains.

We stayed POR in the Alligator Bayou section once. I didn't love it. Paths were very windy & easy to get lost. The pool I didn't think was as nice as Doubloon Lagoon.

I've never stayed in the mansion (Magnolia Plantation??) part of POR, but I would LOVE to do that someday b/c just driving by it looks gorgeous.

Thank you everyone. I remember that my kids were not as enthused by the pool at Riverside. I liked the quiet at Riverside, but when you have six kids, there is no real quiet. Now I just have to sell the kids on it.

We stayed at POFQ last summer for our very first WDW trip and totally enjoyed our stay.

* Small, quick and easy to walk to bus stop.

* Bus picks up at POFQ first and drops off first.

* Great pool for kids, my son loved it!

* Had an uncrowded feel to the resort.

* Easy walk to POR (7-10 minute stroll) and loved the boat to DTD!

I would definitely stay there again.

I haven't stayed at either, but since we are staying at Riverside in July of 2008, and French Quarter this July, I visisted both resorts last month.

I found the pool at Riverside to be bigger.:confused3 I didn't think the slide at FQ looked that big either. The outside of French Quarter is beautiful and it's nice and compact which is great.

That being said, we decided to switch from FQ to Riverside for next month just based on pics I've seen of the rooms. I like the outside of both resorts equally, but from the pics of the rooms, Riverside wins hands down (AB section.)

Plus, I don't know why, but the FQ food court decor irks me. Reminds me of a school cafeteria.

We stayed at the POFQ when my kids were about 8 and 11 and the loved it... we really liked the food court and the size of the resort.... and being able to get on the bus first...
