French Man using live dogs as shark bait?!

STRAY dogs are being skewered on hooks and dragged behind boats as live shark bait, The Sun can shockingly reveal.

The cruel practice takes place on French-controlled Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean, where Prince William spent two holidays.

A six-month-old labrador pup was recently found ALIVE with a huge double hook through its snout - like the dog above - and another through a leg.

The pup was found in a coastal creek and is thought to have somehow freed itself from a fishing line.

But other dogs and kittens have been chomped up and swallowed by sharks.

The RSPCA plans to petition the French government, demanding an end to the hideous torture.

A MAN has been arrested by cops probing the use of live dogs as shark bait, it was revealed last night.

It comes a day after The Sun published horrific photos of a pup with a fishing hook through its snout.

Cops on French-controlled Reunion Island say a man will appear in court tomorrow. And last night the French Embassy vowed to target more rogue fishermen.

It said: “Such acts are illegal and intolerable.”

Animal welfare group Sea Shepherd will pay £680 to any cop who catches a fisherman baiting a dog.

Fish are cold blooded and dogs are not. Also dogs are mammals. Those are some of the less obvious reasons.

I don't like to think of it happening to fish, either, but I think the difference is that dogs are so companionable-- man's best friend and all that. They're so trusting and loving of humans.... it's sad to see them being abused.

Chad, dogs are man's best friend. If we treat our most friendly and most loved animal friend like this, it doesn't set a very good trend for how we will treat other animals.

Again to me a fish is on par with a bug, a dog is the closest animal to man in my eyes. And I don't mean biologically, had to say that before this thread got hijacked.

Basically.

A lot of people in this country who would be horrified at the thought of eating a dog aren't fazed by similar treatment for other animals (fish) because they're not as cute and cuddly as puppies. As for me, I wouldn't do it to a puppy, so why would I do it to a fish?
