I am asking this here since it is related to disability. I have very bad Plantar Fasciatis in both feet. I really need to have frozen water bottles to ice my feet each night when we get back to the hotel, and probably in the am also. I tried just using bags of ice from the machine last time but it just didn't work well since the water bottles are the right shape and allow me to stretch and ice at the same time.

So, is it worth it for me to pay for a refrigerator at Pop for this purpose? My experience has been that these dorm type frig/ freezers usually aren't very big and don't freeze things well. I need to have at least 2 bottles in the freezer. I wouldn't be using it for anything else but freezing these bottles so I really don't want to pay $10(?) per night if it won't even work.

Ideally, I would like to be able to keep some ice packs and extra bottles frozen so I can take them in a cooler bag to the parks to use to ice my feet if I get too sore during the day. But I am guessing there is no way all that would fit in the freezer compartment?

What I really need is just a Dorm sized freezer! :rotfl2:

::yes::I agree.
I don't know about the ones at the Values, but some of the dorm size refrigerators I've seen recently don't really have a freezer part, just a space big enough to slide an ice cube tray in. I'd would expect the freezer part to be about 18 inches wide and not much higher than 4 inches.

Actually, I did find you a dorm size freezer. Depending on how long you are staying and how often you travel, it might make sense for you to buy one.

The mini-fridges that come in the rooms at the mods and deluxes do not have a freezer compartment at all. I would guess the ones they'll put in your rooms at the values for a fee are the same ones.

In any case I'd confirm that the do or do not have a freezer compartment before I rented one.

Thanks, but we are flying and I don't travel enough to justify it, even if we could take it. I was really hoping that maybe they had enough freezer room and ability for some water bottles, but honestly figured they wouldn't.

Sounds like I am stuck with just some bags of ice, lots of pain meds, and toughing it out! :worried:

In that case, here is what I would do.
I got a collapsible cooler at Sam's Club (kind of similar to this one).
Mine said it would keep food frozen for up to 5 hours, and it lived up to that on a trip from our house to Southern Wisconsin. (We had some frozen chicken we were taking along with just a few of those blue ice things. We figured it would thaw at a close to rfrigerator temperature, but it was still frozen solid when we got there).
It folds pretty compact - about 22 inches long, maybe 10 inches high and about 3 inches thick.

If you had one of those and completely filled it with ice and then threw your water bottles in, you should be able to get 3 or 4 bottles of water frozen or almost to the point of freezing.

Several times we have turned the temp all the way to the cold side and have frozen water bottles in the morning. So yes it can freeze things but of coarse there is no quarentee that yours would do the same.

Have you tried calling Special Reservations at 407-939-7807 to expalin the situation and see what they can do to assist you? When you call, have your reservation number available so they can look it up.

I was thinking that the cooler method may be my best option. I only have hard sided ones, and probably need to buy a soft one. My friend drove last year and brought a hard one and kept coffee creamer in it (the refrigerated kind) and just changed out the ice a few times a day and it stayed pretty cold. The bottles won't be frozen, but maybe cold enough to do some good.

I could call Special Reservations (didn't know about them) and ask. I guess this just seems like a minor need compared to others ,I don't know that they will think it is a big deal-- and in the grand scheme of disabilities it really is minor. But for me icing at night can be difference between being able to walk the next day or not.

I am going by myself with my kids for the first time, so if I am out of commission it would be a real problem. The last time DH took them when I needed to rest. We are going to take it easy and have lots of breaks, but I am still really worried about how much my feet will take. I have always been an "on the go" type person so this last year has really been hard on me. It is getting so bad the podiatrist is suggesting surgery

Sorry, done whining.

As long as it is important for you, and it definitely appears to be, you shoud contact special reservations. Their job is to assist people. You have a problem that definitely needs assistance.

So stop whining and call!

Whining is OK. I don't think you used up your whining alotment today yet. :grouphug:

I hadn't thought of Special Reservations and they may have no help for you, but at least it's worth a try. And, who knows, they may have a little feezer you can use.
