Free Water & Water Bottles Question

In normal times I never worried about a water bottle, because we always got free cups of water at food stands or QS meal locations. (would often flavor the water.)
What is the free water cup situation now? Is it possible to get? Is it possible but extremely difficult? I dont see the opton when I have practiced mobile ordering. SHould I count on being able to do it or no?
If no, are the water fountains still functioning? (Specifically the water bottle filling stations). If so, any suggestions on the best water bottle with filter to buy to eliminate the nasty FL water taste (and aftertaste)?

We took large-mouthed stainless water bottles in every day filled with ice and the water from the fountains over the ice no bad taste. We have a car so we had bottled water in the room we each took the iced filled bottle and a cold bottle of water daily.

We thought about it, but I didn’t want to be carrying 5 bottles of water around in a backback

Probably easiest way is to go to the Starbucks in the parks and get a big cup of ice water. Way better than the small cups you get at the quick services.

You can still get the free cups at almost any of the quick service places (the only one we encountered where you couldn't was Cosmic Rays) - Just walk up to the person checking for mobile orders and tell them you just want cups of water and they'll direct you to the appropriate window to ask.

We found all encountered water fountains to be functional. We would ask, and usually receive, free cups of water when we were getting food. Rarely we were directed to another location nearby if water cups were not available when we asked. We carried small SIGGs and filled up often instead of carrying heavy filled big ones. We’re not picky on flavor, just cheap and try to be more ecologically friendly than plastic bottles.

The only refill station at MK is inside Cosmic Rays and no one is allowed in to use it. The refill stations elsewhere are accessible, but AK only has them in line for the two Pandora rides and HS is only at the new restroom near the Skyliner. So mostly choices are to get water from fountains which may or may not be sanitary and covid-free, or to obtain wasteful single use paper cups.
