Free upgrade to OKW or SSR, but no car??

We received the email and were able to get the upgrade. I called back later to inquire about a 1bdrm upgrade since I saw other people were offered this. The CM said we could get a 1 bdrm if it was available but it wasnt. Then he said to take part of this upgrade deal we had to attend a DVC tour, I told him that wasnt stated anywhere in the email and he said well I am just telling you what I have been instucted. And he also said if we did not attend the tour before the end of our trip we would have to pay full price!
I again stated that is not mentioned anywhere on the offer and he just wanted to put me through to the DVC dept to make the tour appt., I hung up after he transferred me.

Was anyone else told this?

The 1st CM I talked to did not mention this at all & like I said it is not mentioned anywhere in the email and I have read every small print etc...

Couldn't get an AP discount on our room for our Dec trip, and of the two FD trips I'm making, not one upgrade I'm cursed!

We took advantage of the free upgrade yesterday, we were staying at POP. I still have my free dining. My daughter wanted to stay at OKW because we stayed at SSR last November. I just got my confirmation from Disney and my free dining is still listed.

Heck I even got a $3.50 refund, still trying to figure that one out???

We were not told this at all. And I read and re-read the email, it wasn't stated anywhere!

I think the CM was confusing the free upgrade with a separate DVC promo that was just released where you can rent at SSR or OKW for $199/night if you do the "tour".

For those getting small refunds, someone on another thread said it was due to Tax percentage and county lines. Not sure if it's true, but it makes sense.

That's what I figured too. If I remember correctly a couple years ago we were told that when we switched over to POP from AS we had to pay a little more because of it being in a different county.

Hmmm....we had a standard room booked for 4 nights at All-Star Sports, were able to upgrade to a 1-bedroom at SSR and the total ended up being about 40 cents less somehow? The reservationist offered both the 1-bed and the studio....my choice.

We had a standard room at AsSp, and the CM gave us a 1 bdroom without any additional charge. . I told the CM I'd prefer SSR hoping Id get the 1 bdroom. With two small boys it'll be nice to have a little personal space at night, lol.

I also felt a little frustrated with the CM telling me there was no availablity for my original dates, but oh well. Thats what I get for not checking my email early in the morning.

The other think I could think of is that since it is only my hubby and I, They were charging us for the 3rd person. Usually there is charge for "extra" person (meaning more than 2 persons).
Either way it is a great deal for me! Got a Deluxe for 4 nights with Free Dining, tickets for $1110. I'm dreaming of that jacuzzi!!!

1st off: Congrats to all of you super lucky Dissers who can take advantage of such an INCREDIBLE upgrade!!!

2nd: What about us??????????????? It would be sooooo great to NOT have to share 1 room with my 6'4" husband AND our 6'1", 12 year old son!!! Eeeeek! Those beds are SMALL!!! ha ha


Seriously though, has anybody figured any rhyme or reason to who gets picked? This exact thing happened to us in '07 when we stayed at ASMu. A whole bunch (not us!) got upgraded to OKW and SSR. Do you think it's people who are just due to pay their balance? It WOULD be a great way for Disney to ensure they choose to come. Is it length of stay? I wonder if our 10 nt stays hurt us in this regard? Arrrgh....doesn't much matter, I suppose. It's all about the Pixie Dust, isn't it?

Again....ENJOY those wonderful resorts everybody! I'm still gonna have a ball 'slummin it' in the All Stars!!!!

Just two people in my party also. We have 4 nights, free dining, 5-day base tickest....around $844 and some change I believe.

I hear ya about the jacuzzi!! I'm pumped about the washer/dryer!! lol

Not that it wouldn't be nice to stay at SSR or OKW Although it does scare me a bit that there is no availability for when I go to ANY of the Value resorts

No, My card was charged with $65.84 ($16.46 per day). So I called again they told that that was the cost for the 1 br upgrade. I'm confused now!

I just got back from my honeymoon and I had 700 work emails to go through so I just deleted a bunch of them that were not work related so I might have deleted it accidentally!!! AHHH Do you think if I called Disney they would know if I was one of the pin code recievers or not?

Well...at least we've established from your post that they're not just offering the pin to those who are still due to pay their balance. Good to know...we paid it all ages ago also.
