A friend who just returned from DLR gave me a "tip" that if you buy from a place that has self serve soda, you can take your cup and refill anywhere in the park all day as long as they have self serve soda. Is this true, or just something they got away with? Just want to make sure we're on the up & up :goodvibes

Personally, I think it is something they got away with. I cant see Disney willingly losing money like that ;)

Something they got away with. Unlike Walt Disney World, Disneyland doesn't currently offer those refillable souvenir mugs or anything like that because they do not offer free refills. Your friend scammed the system. I always bring my own water bottle and refill it at water fountains, that's my "free refill" tip :)

I'm trying to think of places in DL where you even get to fill your own cup and I can't think of any. If there are, I would treat it the same way I do Mc Donalds. While you are sitting there eating, you can get a refill, but once you leave you don't get to come back for refills.

At Plaza Inn we have always gotten refills, I even stop on my way back in and tell the cashier I'm just getting a refill. They've never said there are no refills, or you have to pay or anything. It's the only place that we've done it though, as they do (at least still did on last trip) have the fill your own cup dispensers. One thing they did though, they used to have mint julep in a dispenser too!! that was sweet for refills! not last time though. Only place I know to get free refills of mint julep is inside Blue Bayou....just how much mint julep can I consume..... a lot!! lol...

Oh and this is just as long as you are eating there....not the whole day!!

Well, seeing as the typical fountain drink costs the retailer 3 cents, they are definitely not losing money, but I see your point that Disney would definately not lose out on the chance to make a buck or FOUR :rotfl:

Ok, thanks guys, I certainly would not want to get mid-drink and have someone make a scene! :thumbsup2

We've asked and been told at Pizza Port guests may have 1 free refill.

At Plaza Inn, I think they allow more refills, since they use plastic glasses there that you can't really take with you.

I'm sure this isn't something disney wants to happen. I doubt a CM would make a scene but personally I'd almost feel like I was stealing if I came back hours after a meal for another refill, but that's just me. I'm paranoid about stuff like that lol

Yeah - it's one of those things like using a SoCal ticket when you're not a resident, or cutting in line for a ride - will they catch you? Who knows, most likely not, but I feel like at Disneyland out of all places people should act with dignity and respect, which is why I wouldn't do it.

While paying for a meal at Rancho del Zocalo last October, the CM at the register told me to hold onto the receipt if I wanted to get a refill. It was slightly surprising since I didn't ask about it, he just voluntarily offered up that helpful hint. I've known about it previously and always assumed it was for one refill during that visit. I didn't even think about holding onto to the cup and refill it later in the day. Besides, it would have been too much hassle to try to keep the cup drink-worthy throughout the day lol.

On other trips, I've refilled my cup at Redd Rocket's Pizza Port during the same meal/visit too. Just make sure you hang onto the receipt. The CMs there definitely allow it, although none of them have ever volunteered that information, like the Rancho del Zocalo CM. :goodvibes

Awhile back there was a coffee thread where it ws mentioned if you saved your receipt after buying coffee on Main st you could get it refilled all day. Similar idea with the sodas? I doubt it also or they would just do the mugs.

That's kinda like buying McDonald's soda for lunch and returning later for dinner with cup in hand. Not sure there is a way for McDonald's to know you're doing it....but that doesn't make it right either.

The free coffee refill is Market House on Main Street. You can save your receipt and they give ONE free refill, not all day. DH does this every trip. However, I wouldn't drink that coffee if they gave it away free all day. It's horrible.

Actually, it is free refills for the whole day. :) We have done this many times. Its not so bad with lots of sugar and creamer. LOL

Hmm... When DH does it, they take his receipt so it is only one refill. Maybe it depends on who is there. :confused3 I think several years ago he may have been able to do it several times during the day.

Maybe so. Last year and the year before we refilled all day. They never took our receipt. My hubby must get 3-5 each day.

When we were there it was a "no go" anywhere I asked. So I wonder how this is happening. At a minimum if everyone got 1 refill it would be $1200 depending on the crowds that day, if you take $1200 out of my pocket I would be unhappy.
