I didn't see this posted anywhere else and thought it might be of interest to at least a few people. Applebees is offering a free meal to Veterans on Veterans Day (from a limited menu). Here is the link for more information:

http://www.applebees.com/vetsday/

I find it interesting that they'll take a picture as proof but not a DD214? I'm guessing they just don't want anything with the SSN on it. Guess I have to dig out a picture of me in my DCU's in Saudi back in 91!

It says on the page you linked that they will accept a DD214.

I may just have to go on November 11. I like Applebees.

Thanks for the update - it didn't have it on there when I first got the email about it a week or so ago. Didn't recheck the link before posting! Good - that's much easier to find than my old pics! :rotfl:

Thanks for posting this, OP. :goodvibes

My DBro is a Col at the Pentagon...I just emailed him the link to tell EVERYONE!!!! :thumbsup2

2009 Veterans Day Discounts
By: Patrick

Oct.15, 2009 in Deals / Discounts
Verteran’s Day is just around the corner, and it is a popular holiday to say thanks to our country’s military members. Many restaurants, stores, and other businesses offer free items and discounts to military members, retirees, and other veterans. Most places require proof of service such as a military or retiree ID card, DD Form 214, VFW card, or other proof of service, so be prepared if you are asked for proof of service.

In the spirit of the season we thought we would share a few of this year’s promotions with our readers.

Golden Corral’s Military Appreciation Monday
Golden Corral’s 9th annual Military Appreciation Monday dinner is scheduled for Monday, November 16, 2009, from 5 to 9 pm in all Golden Corral restaurants nationwide (note that it is NOT on the actual Veterans Day). The free dinner meal is open to anyone who served in the US Military and is open to all veterans, retirees, active duty military members, and members of the National Guard or Reserves.
Free “Thank You” Dinner
Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Applebee’s Free Meal on Veterans Day
Applebee’s is supporting military veterans again this year by offering military members and veterans a free meal on Veterans Day. Simply show proof of military service, including showing up in uniform, military ID, military service organization ID (VFW card, etc), a picture of you in uniform, or other proof, and select a free meal from a special menu. For more information, visit the AppleBee’s Veterans Day page.

Other Veteran’s Day Discounts:
Many companies, stores, and restaurants offer Veteran’s Day discounts to Active Duty military members, retirees, and/or veterans. Be sure to ask if you are in doubt! Other offers:

Lowe’s and Home Depot military discounts. The big box home improvement stores often give military members and veterans a 10% discount on military holidays such as Memorial Day, Veteran’s Day, and around the 4th of July. Be sure to ask and bring your ID!
Last year’s free meals on Veteran’s Day included Golden Corral, McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants, and Applebees.
Check for local restaurants and businesses for more discounts!
Be sure to check out more military discounts on Military Finance Network, and thanks for serving!

I don't know if these have been posted but here are two others. I have several for this specific area if anyone is insterested.

I keep meaning to tell DH about that. I think we may go out to dinner that night :)

I knew about Applebees but not Golden Corral. Thanks! :)

The DD214 wasn't listed when I first saw it either, I'm glad it's been added.

I saw something from Texas Roadhouse too. Not sure if it is just my local one (the e-mail said that location) but I would assume it is all of them.
