Is that really in the KFC franchise agreement? That they don't have to honor any coupons? Sure seems unlikely, as KFC prints coupons in the direct mail all the time. But regardless, it just seems dumb to piss off customers! I'm just fed up with all these stores hassling couponers these days and claiming fraud...who do they think they are the FBI?

Isn't this similar to the Quizno's thing? Where franchises weren't honoring the coupon. Which I understand they don't have to. I'm in HI, most franchise places won't take coupons that aren't local.

Absolutely it is part of the agreement. That is why coupons always say "participating locations."

Most of the time KFC corporate will reimburse franchises for accepting coupons, sometimes the full amount, sometimes a partial amount. For this particular coupon, there is zero reimbursement.

Today, a KFC honored 9 of them for teachers at my school. Very nice of them!

I tried to use mine today at two local restaurants. One said they had given out their 100 today and to try back tomorrow. The other said they were not honoring any more coupons at all. I wrote into the KFC public relations email. We'll see if we get a response.

I've seen postings on other boards that the CEO for KFC (or YUM foods, their owner) has pulled the promotion. But they are saying that if you put your name and address on the back of your free meal coupon, then KFC will mail you an alternate free meal. I have not seen any official communication on it though.

They should have done it like this in the first place. Sure you'd get some people signing up their pets and such, but at least it wouldn't have been a free for all printing of the coupons.

I've also seen mention that some of the stores were enforcing rules on the coupons, like valid only 1-4pm, or only for the first 100 people, or only color copies accepted. Very poor planning on KFCs part. Didn't they pay attention when Quizno's couldn't sustain their free offer?

I did get one free meal and it just reminded me why I don't eat there very often. Usually only during a certian time of the month when I get a craving.

I just sent my not-so-nice e-mail to KFC PR. After attempts at two locations tonight, with both of them posting signs saying they weren't honoring the coupon today. I told KFC that I think they will receive a lot of bad PR from this, rather than the good PR they were hoping for .

Yep, happened tonight to us. We stopped in our local KFC with our coupons and they took our coupons and had us fill out a form - said they will mail us vouchers to be used in the future. Rats - Shoulda went yesterday!!

sent my dh out tonite and he came home with the form to fill out and he had to PAY for the chicken meal he got.........I will be sending the info in for my freebie!
It makes me crazy that they make an offer and then cant deliver.....argh!

our two KFC's would not accept them. They said the quota was 150 and they fulfilled their quota. (??????????)

I emailed and haven't gotten a response yet. I'm sure I will.

We tried to call the number EIGHTY times tonight (repeat dial) and never got thru......

I also emailed Oprah and told her that I appreciate she's trying to do a great thing but that KFC corporate obviously doesn't have control over all KFC's. SOme are not participating at all.

I have three KFC's in my area and I called yesterday to see if they would honor the coupon and all three said "no". Too bad
