Free KFC 2 peice PLUS 2 sides & biscuit coupon!!!

Yes, really. I do understand it is free, but it is now costing me two round trips to our nearest KFC which is about 45 minutes away (in no traffic of course) and this is of course only IF they do turn in the coupon and I do get my raincheck. My *free* meal is no longer free.

You free meal was never free if you had to drive 45 minutes even 1 time to get it. I'm not trying to be harsh but, seriously, you were going to drive 45 minutes for 1 free meal that cost $5? You would have spent more than that in gas to get there and back.

The outrage over this amazes me. I knew nothing about this promo until the story of riots hit the media. It doesn't surprise me in the least that once again so many people have abused the promo and completely ruined it for those who were legitimately trying to redeem the offer.

Riots? I didn't hear anything about riots.

Right..I would drive there and get my actual meal. Not fill out a form and leave empty handed so I could go back in 6-8 weeks to redeem it.

Offering the "raincheck" online would still get people into KFC to redeem it.

Sounds like a bit of a "bait and switch" tactic to get you in there and spend your own money while filling out the "raincheck".

Now what would be superior customer service on their part would be to allow you to use your coupon for a 2 piece meal of choice at this point and then offer the option of filling out the raincheck for the grilled chicken.

Yeah, so their out two meals not just one. That makes sense

I'm sorry that it did not work out for you. But the company can't tailor their response to every situation.

They are doing their best to accomodate legitimate requests for the free meal. If you don't want to follow their guidelines, that is your choice.

Do a google search for KFC riots and you will see what I mean.

Yes, the reports of ritos were over exagerated but that is how news of this promo really started to spread.

Well I agree with the others. We printed out the coupons and will not use them.

They knew what they were doing. They went on Oprah, and offered a printable coupon and then claim they were ill prepared for the response. If Oprah says anything, it is gold!! Every marketer 101 knows that! Her magazine has more commercials in it than articles!:rotfl:

Anyway, not making 2 trips to KFC to get 1 free meal. This is about business honoring what they offered and that is not what they did. If someone did this on Ebay or Craigslist or renting points there would be outrage and bad feedback. KFC deserves the bad feedback and does not deserve my business because I believe in honoring committments even when I miscalculate the expense.

Why are we so hard on each other, but allow these businesses to squirm out every chance they get?

KFC and it's franchisee's will be thanking you and all the other people who take this position. I'm betting that you rarely go to KFC anyway, since it's a 45 minute drive, with no traffic. Hard to believe that you would be willing to drive 1.5 hours, round trip, for about $25 worth of KFC. ;)

For every person who doesn't turn in their coupon for a raincheck, KFC figures it saved money.

It wasn't a well thought out promotion just like quizno's. I do understand atleast KFC is trying to fix it but it just isn't working for me.
I agree, very poorly thought out, and rife with opportunity for fraud. Somone definitely screwed up. I give KFC props for trying to make it right when they realized what a monster they created.

However, blame for the fiasco needs to be shared by those looking to take advantage. We even had someone on this very thread willing to send others a coupon. That is "working" the program and helped to make the problem worse than it should have been.

This is me personally! I am not going to hold it against anyone who wants to eat there! I am just NOT going to drive that far 2x hoping for 1 free meal.

Kind of what I said in the beginning...hard to believe you would be willing to drive that far to begin with...for such a small reward, but to each their own.

I think anyone who offers up a promotion on Oprah better be ready for something big! Of course it doesn't help that these coupons are posted all over the internet and being sold. I won't hold that part against KFC either but clearly the way it was handled to begin with did not sit well with me.

I'm betting it was some man, who just doesn't "get Oprah." :rotfl: Poor guy. I really think the internet issue is bigger than any one of us could imagine in creating this monster. Oprah and the internet....what a powerful combination!!!!

I'll just make my own grilled chicken. This is America and thankfully we all can disagree! It would be a pretty boring world if we all agreed! I am thankful to be an American!

Good plan. You'd be saving money, even if the program were carried out in it's original form, since the nearest KFC is so far away from where you live. Additionally, I'll bet your grilled chicken, and the sides you serve with it, are much healthier than what you would get at KFC.

Isn't it great that we can all disagree? Yep, being an American citizen, living in America, is awesome, even with the economy in the tank! I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Why can't people on here have a conversation without resorting to the nasty eye rolling? I'll never understand it. :confused3

Because you can't see the look on my face when I read such a ridiculous statement. Last time I checked smilies or rolling eye faces were perfectly acceptable on message boards.

Fine - I'll type it out. Your idea is completely ridiculous. A company wants to give you something for free. But because they can't give it to you when you want it, you want them to give you and millions more even more free stuff. I'm sure the millons of shareholders of YUM! Brands (parent co. of KFC) would be thrilled to hear that the company would be giving away not one but two free meals to millions of coupon holders (many of who were fraudulenty using those coupons.)

So I went to KFC tonight to fill out my raincheck form for the 4 legal coupons I printed out on my own printer each of which had a different code # on it. (Just to clarify). The staff was very accomadating. I figured there was no point yelling a screaming about it. It certainly wasn't the cashier's fault that the corporate office didn't think through all of the craziness.

Anyway...we decided to eat there anyway. The cashier was very nice. He told us that if we ordered the buffet he would still give us a couple pieces of grilled chicken to try. It was good BTW. The manager also gave us a free kid's buffet even though our DD is too old for the free meal, so we still got a free meal from KFC.

Wow-I didn't know KFC has a buffet! I wonder if my local restaurant has that......I would love a KFC buffet. Yummy coleslaw, mashed potatoes, mac-n-cheese, corn......

Seems like you guys need a laugh ;). I have been pretty sick since I got back for Disney last week . I do not watch Oprah so I didnt know about the chicken offer. I was not feeling well and knew I was not going to cook last Tuesday night so I called home to see what my Son wants to eat . He says he wants to try KFC's grilled chicken but for me to get some of the regular stuff in case he hates the grilled stuff LOL aww to be 20 again !

So I go to the 1st KFC lines are around the building and you cant get in the door . Looking at all the SUV's I think " Must be some school night , or a cheerleading group thing" I go to the 2nd one and the main road to it is blocked the cops are there trying to get control of traffic . Now for those of you from the Metroplex this is the one that is on Great Southwest Parkway and I-20 so imagine what it looked like .
I called my son to see if there was something going on " Not that I know of Mom but I dont want you to wait just pick me up BK "

We didnt know a thing till the DIS boards on Wend.

Now that should cheer you up and if it didnt then let me let you look at what it was like .
1 Small 300 Mercedes with a sick lady coughing her lungs up in the drivers seat , in the passengers seat is a 130lb Rottie face full of drool making it worse is the fact he has to bark at everyone he sees outside thier car . I can not turn around anywhere to get out of the mess . He is mad because well he knows the drive through window and knows he gets food from that . He is barking the whole way home and let me tell you that was 30 min of my life I will never get back . I will now see if I can find a picture of my dog to make you laugh even more because he is all teef and lips :scared1:

Now no more bickering over the UNATURAL thing that KFC is now selling LOL
