My son's tiger scout den is looking to do a first aid lesson. I was wondering if any of you freebie savvy people have any idea where I could get a hold of some free first aid kits (just little ones) I only need 12

TIA!!!

Did a quick search online and came up empty. Try calling the marketing department of your local hospitals and tell them what you're doing. Try the local fire departments, too. PM me if these don't work. Good luck!

never thought of calling a hospital...Will do, thanks for the tip!

Make sure it's the marketing department, though, and not the front desk or ER. :) Another thought -- check with the volunteer groups at the hospitals if the marketing depts. don't come through.

You might even consider contacting Walmart or your local drug store. You would be surprised at how willing to donate most are.

Well, they're not free, but I saw small first aid kits for a dollar a piece in the travel-size products section at Target. Maybe your local Target would be willing to help since the kits are relatively inexpensive?

Our Girl Scouts made their own too, put them in film containers (35mm). It had a bandaid, an antibactial wipe (individually wrapped) emergency contact paper, safety pins, gauze pad (wrapped) and a life saver taped to the lid (not sure what that was for!). I've seen the ones at Target and that might be your best bet.

yeop this is what were doing for our Caravans group this year.

I will have each bring one thing like a box of bandaids, alchohol wipes etc.

that way its still cheap.

The lifesaver is in case someone goes into shock... the sugar content can help. It's also useful if someone is diabetic, and needs a quick sugar fix. ;)

Here are links to 2 home-made first aid kit ideas.

This is a lanyard first aid kit that they can wear on their belts:

This is a personal first aid kit (we used cheap fishing tackle boxes).

I've done them a few times with scouts. We had each child bring in one of the items (a box of band-aids, a box of alcohol wipes, q-tips, mini ziploc bags (crafts dept.) etc...). They each explained why their item was needed in the first aid kits, and each child added the item to their kit.

Have fun!

My local dollar store had a small kit in a plastic box, I bought one for our trip and it was perfect. It had a few bandaids, 2 or 3 alcohol wipes and I think a safety pin or 2. I added some tylenol and mole skin. They are cheap and the plastic box is very well made. ~Mandy

Ummmmm, about the lifesavers.... please do not give someone who is a Diabetic a lifesaver if they are unconscious!! They will choke and you will have more of a problem, If you are worried about a diabetic, get a small tube of cake frosting and squeeze it in their mouth, I also do not believe that the lifesavers will help someone in shock.. I am not a Doctor butI play one on TV, not really, I was a paramedic for 10 years and have never heard of that one! just my 2 cents! :flower:

I'm a wolf scout leader, and that is what we did
In a ziplock bag
2 pr gloves(from beauty suply store or donation)
2 anticeptic wipes
2-3 bandaids
2-3 qtips
paper/pen
piece of hard wrapped candy.

Got everything except gloves at the dollar store.

***I had also contacted Bandaid Company, they will donate, but I could not get the items for this year, so I am saving them for next.
