I saw this promotion on this very forum last year, and got a few tickets from the hospital. I decided to see if they were doing the same thing this year before I got tickets for our annual trip to Disney. Turns out that they are!

It is a little different than last year. They aren't offering much of a discount, but they are offering some great incentives. Best of all, all of the money they raise goes to their childnren's hospital.

If you go to www.fhfoundation.org, you will find that there are a couple of different options to choose from. If you donate between $85 and $700 to the Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children, they will send you a gift package that includes a one day ticket to any of Disney World's theme parks, along with a gift certificate to Planet Hollywood, and discount coupons to some watersports places in downtown Disney.

This is such a great program for the hospital. I would have spent the money for tickets anyway. I'd rather have it go to a worthwhile cause, and i think it's wonderful that they picked a children's hospital to benefit.

thanks Rolly! Not as good a deal as last year but a very worthy cause. Thanks for providing the link.

oic

not a good deal at all since you can not take a tax deduction for it.

a 1 day adult park hopper is $79 you have to donate $85 to get it.

the $150 option is a better buy since you get 2 1 day tickets and a $20 gc to Planet hollywood and the 25% at Curl by Sammy Duvall

then at the $300 mark not worth it again.

I know the money goes to a good cause but removing the tax deduction does not make it cost effective past the $150 mark

When you factor in the tax on a 1-day pass, it really costs closer to $85. So, your $85 donation is pretty much an even exchange, except that the hospital benefits from your donation instead of Disney.

At the $300 donation level, you would get 4 1-day passes (value=$340 when you add the tax in) PLUS a $40 PH GC and discounts at Curl and Sammy Duvall's.

I don't think that's a bad deal for anyone who only needs a single day at WDW.

On a side note - the tickets expire on 12/31/2010, so if you're making a donation just to get the WDW passes, you need to be aware of this. I do not know if these tickets would be eligible for upgrading. Most promotional tickets are not.

As far as tax deductions go, you are getting a gift. You either get a gift OR a tax deduction, not both. Last year's tickets were not eligible for upgrades.

I think the $150 offer is great! I got the 1 day tickets last year and they are a great way to visit the parks on a quick trip without feeling guilty. They are saving you some money and you are helping a good cause at the same time. Add a MNSSHP or MVMCP ticket and you can have a nice weekend trip for very little $.

The $300 and $750 levels are definitely worthwhile if you need seperate tickets. You're right that buying one four day ticket is less than $300, however, buying two two day tickets is more than $300. So if you have two people going to the park for two days, then you can save money that way.

Same thing with the $750 level, since you get 10 tickets. One 10 day or even two five day tickets would be much less than $750, but again, if you had five people going for two days then you would save money (It would be $830.70 for five two day tickets)

And that's not even counting the planet hollywood gift certificate ($120 at the $750 level)

I'm very seriously considering doing the $750 donation. Living here in Orlando I have a lot of family and friends that come to visit and want to go to Disney for only one or two days. $84 for a one day ticket is pretty expensive and there's not much of a discount for a two day ticket. If you subtract the cost of the PH gift certificate then you're only paying $630 for 10 one day tickets... or $63 a day... that's pretty a pretty decent discount and I'm sure my guests would appriciate that. I imagine that we would use them all before they expire next year, but it's still a lot of money to put out initially for the convenience of my friends.

The tickets in the hospital promotion are given to the Foundation at no charge and therefore are Complimentary. These tickets cannot be upgraded or modified in any way, as their value in the Automated Ticketing System is zero.

Thanks for clarifying that for us, CF! I knew we could count on you to know the answer. :)

ah did not think about the tax. so basically the $85 donation is an even exchange. with a 20% off coupon that you may use or may not use.

and the $150 and above are the better deals.

as far as the tax deduction/ gift thing I was just pointing that out not saying I wanted both. :scared1:

Well said. For someone who takes a lot of guests on 1 day trips this makes a lot of sense!

I received my package from the Florida Hospital Foundation today! What a great promotion this is...not to mention a wonderful way to donate to a children's hospital.

We donated $300 and received a package of four park tickets, $40 worth of gift cards to Planet Hollywood, and discount cards to watersports center at the Contemporary and downtown Disney. The package even included a nice thank you letter from the Florida Hospital for Children.

The process was fast and really easy. I donated online just a couple of days ago, and the post man was at my door today asking me to sign for the package. I might just have to make another donation :)

Can somebody give me the website to donate?

Rolly, something tells me that you are affiliated with this fundraiser. You joined DIs boards 2 days ago, posted a bunch of answers to other unrelated threads (to look legit) in quick succession, then posted that you bought tickets for the Foundation, and after that asked if there was a Disney Children's hospital. If you'd already bought tickets through this fundraiser last year, I think you already knew that there was a disney children's hospital. I smell a troll.

The Fundraiser is probably a great cause, but a troll is a troll is a troll. I hate bait and hooks.

I think this may benefit us. We never use park hoppers and we will be needing:

DHS - 4 adults, 1 child
AK - 3 adults, 1 child (one adult will have the free birthday admission)

Will have to do some figuring.

ETA -

Pricing it on the Disney website (since we really arent able to utilize discount sites because we use 1 day tix) the AK day with 3 adults and 1 child would be $324.84 (I wonder if we can use one of these tix for a childs ticket? We'd have to for it to work out).

The DHS day for 4 adults and 1 child would be $408.98

I could buy 2 of the $300 packages and save $24.84 on one day and $36.56 on the other day (we would still have to buy the childs ticket for that day since the package is for 4 tickets). The $750 package would not benefit us since we dont need 10 tickets ths trip.

Thats a savings of $61.40 on ou tickets

We hadn't planned on going to PH, but it says the GC can be used for merchandise....so while we are at DTD T Rex....we could go on a PH shopping spree...lol

I wonder how long this promotion goes on. Im still debating just going on ahead and getting the $750 package and saving the other tickets for next year and we'd get the $120 PH for October.

How would this play into the free birthday ticket if we bought the $750 package? I wonder if we could get the gift card then?

This will not work for multiple reasons.

1. All of the tickets are one-day, one-park, and are considered by Disney to be complimentary and have zero value. They cannot be upgraded or modified in any way.

2. The tickets will have an expiration date on them; if not used by that date they become invalid.

3. They cannot be used to get a Birthday Alternate Gift such as the Birthday Fund Card or the Birthday FastPasses. This is because the requirements to get the alternate gifts are you must have a valid multi-day ticket for that day's park entry. Since these are not multi-day tickets they do not qualify.

Im not sure I follow you.

#1 - The value of them is irrelevant to me. Im comparing their value to what I would have to pay for them if purchased through Disney. We would be buying one day, single park tix anyway.

#2 - We're going in October. They dont expire until 12/2010

#3 - That was my hunch but still makes it worthwhile for me. My son can just use is free b-day thingy that day.

I will admit, Im running on a sever lack of sleep....but Im not seeing how this wouldn't work for us.

I guess the key question is why do you use one day tickets. That is the most expensive way to go. Check Post #18 of the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in the TPA&S Forum, or click on the link in my signature to get to that thread.

ordered these tickets?

On the surface, this looks like an option for DH and I who are planning on buying two one-day tickets to use the day before our cruise. But.....after reading the post about "trollling", I have to admit to being a bit skeptical.

It's a legitimate charity. Mary Waring (Foodlover) has this deal posted on Mousesavers.com, too.
