We're trying to decide if we should move our August 2010 trip dates (8/4-8/11) to later in the month to take advantage of free dining if the promotion continues next year.

When did free dining start this past August 2009? Can free dining be applied to CL rooms as well? How are the crowds at the end of August?

The first free dining promotion available to the general public for 2009 was effective for stays beginning 8/16. It was changed about 6 weeks later to start on 8/22, perhaps because there were no longer any rooms available for the first week.

The Bounce Back offer for 2010 is good for stays beginning 8/15/2010.

Free Dining is often available for CL rooms but like all other package discounts, they can be limited to the number of rooms available.

Crowd levels vary but are usually manageable. Keep in mind that while free dining draws many resort guests to WDW, it does nothing to attract day guests.

If I already have a CL room booked at AKL, can I add free dining if the promo is released again for 2010?

Sure, as long as there are CL rooms available for the free dining discount. Make sure you watch closely for the free dining release date, because I have a feeling CL rooms will go quick! Even if you're already holding a reservation for one, there will only be a certain number of rooms at each resort available for the free dining code.

Maybe, maybe not.

It will depend on whether AKL has any CL rooms available under the free dining code. It's not just a matter of "adding" free dining to your package or room reservation. There are a finite number of rooms set aside under each discount code. Not all resorts or room types are included or they may not be available for certain dates because Disney does not need to fill rooms at that particular resort. The best you can do is hope that it will be included, call as soon as you learn that the discount is available and then be willing to make changes in your dates or resort if it is not.
