Free Dining Watch 2009 - Dates Released!! Update post 1

So now all we have to worry about is the free for all come May/June when everyone calls at once to make ADR's.

I really liked the 180 day window and wish they hadn't changed it back to 90. I always felt like I had a leg up as an overplanner!
I so wish they would go back to 180 day ADRS!

I have two questions that have possibly been answered, but just wanted to make sure.

1. I already have POR booked for 8/25-9/1. Do we have to cancel that reservation and make a new one with Free Dining? Or can we just call and have it added on?

And 2. Is it like a first come, first served type of deal? Should I be awake at 6:30 on Monday morning, as much as I love my sleep it'd be worth waking up that early.

Ok, one more question-- Is it possible to change TS credits into CS? If we don't eat at a sit down restaurant each day, is it possible to use those credits as CS?

Thanks guys! :worship:

Amen to that! This is my concern too! Let's just pray that we can make online ADR's by then.

IT SEEMS THIS YEAR YOU CAN JUST ADJUST CURRENT RESERVATIONS.

IT IS FIRST COME FIRST SERVE, AND VALUES FILL UP FIRST (USUALLY POP FIRST). IF YOU CANNOT CALL THAT AM, JUST HAVE A COUPLE OF OTHER RESORTS YOU ARE WILLING TO TAKE; DO EXPECT TO WAIT 30-60 MINUTES OR MORE IF YOU CALL THAT AM.

Ok, one more question-- Is it possible to change TS credits into CS? If we don't eat at a sit down restaurant each day, is it possible to use those credits as CS?

IT SEEMS LIKE I HEARS SOME DO THIS, BUT HOPEFULLY SOMEONE ELSE WILL JUMP IN ON THAT ONE.

Thanks guys! :worship:

Have fun--we arrive the 5th!
(Sorry how that ended up...my answers ARE within your message!)

We got our confirmation e-mail a couple of hours after booking. At the top of my confirmation it says: the name of the resort - RYI (code used). Then the next line says MYW + Free Dine - VISA.

I believe the on-line system on Disney's website should be updated overnight and you will see your information there tomorrow.

Have a great trip!:)

My wish is to secure 2 rooms at Pop. Last year, I dont think they asked me for a code even though I had it... I'm wondering when TheDis or Mousesavers will post the "code" online?

Its sooo stressfull!! I hope I can get Pop, thats just the beginning.. then I start to stress over ADRs!

uggghhhh!!!

I need help.:scared1:

Oh wow. 17 pages in 14 hours. That's insane. I just finished reading through everything. I'm so excited for everyone who got their free dining, and glad to see that it looks like the major kinks have been worked out of the system!!!!!

Congratulations to everyone with DVs, and to everyone else waiting for Monday, I'll be there with you at 6:59 am, groggy and in a robe, yelling at the automated phone message that yes, I have been to Disney before. Yes, in the past 5 years. And yes, I would like to make a reservation.

1. I'm sure you can add it on . . .a guy my husband works with did that 2 years ago

2. Don't worry about it. . . there is plenty of time. I've done this 3 times with free dining and thought about it for a few weeks before I made the call.

3. The first time we had free dining they let us have CS with a TS, BUT we asked about it they next year (didn't actually need to do it) and they said we couldn't. Just go ahead and make those reservations for TS because you don't want to chance it and it is a better value. If you don't want it to take up your day, book an early breakfast buffet. That way you are free of worrying about reservations on that day.

Oops, it posted twice. Sorry!

Shouldn't you be doing homework?? :rotfl:
Me too! and I have not gotten anything done all day. Seriously I was in lecture today when I saw everyone posting they got free dining and I could not concentrate on the rest of the lecture. Seriously considered leaving the room to go and try to book free dining even though I dont have a a disney visa.

Hello my name is stephanie and i am a freak! :lmao:

Wondering how the ADR's will work out for all of us in September. Think we will get what we want?

You sound like my mother. :scared1:

I don't have homework due on Fridays! :woohoo: Only one class, and there's never any work. I'm writing my final paper on Disney for that class, which is both pretty awesome, and pretty sad. I can join you in that freak category.
I also might be late for the same class on Monday because I'll be booking free dining. Depends if I can book it and be ready to go before 10:00, which is when my bus leaves.

Going to bed now though, because otherwise I'll stay up all night reading different threads on FD...

I so wish they would go back to 180 day ADRS!

I have never done a dining plan before, so this might be a silly question, but isn't it difficult to make ADR's without knowing park hours? When you could make them 180 days out, did you just guess at where you'd be each night? I know that right now I have a 'sample' schedule of where I want to be each night using last year's schedule, but I know that's likely to change when Aug and Sept hours come out. I'm just curious about the best way to make dinner decisions prior to knowing park hours.

Thanks!

IF they have availability of that type of room in the promotion, you can modify your current ressie. Have a second choice ready just in case.

Sorry if someone else has already asked( I'm sure they have). Can I book free dining online? Or do I need to call Monday?:confused3

It will be online eventually. I'd call if the icon is not up in the morning.

I've never had a problem, but I go on the phone prepared with exact days, times (roughly) and restaurants. If I have one that is particularily hard to get (Chef Mickey's or Le Cellier, for example), I ask for that one first.
The so appreciate it when you are prepared. Most people call (NON DIS-ers)and say "What's good?" LOL

You should know park hours by 90 days out.
I think August hours come out May 1, and Sept. hours June 1.

Sept. 1st people might be cutting it close, but, for example, I have ressies for Sept. 20, and I can call June 22, with park hours being available June 1.

Happy Planning! :wizard:

has anyone booked for a stay that lasts beyond 10/3? I want to book on Monday for 10/2-10/7, will I get the FD for the entire stay?

Yes, you will, as long as you check in before the end, you get it for your whole stay. However, you won't be charged Value Season rate, you'll be charged for Regular Season (if you knew that already, sorry!)

I hate to rain on everyone's parade, but thought I would pass along this info.:

I just received my Disney Visa statement in the mail yesterday, and they almost doubled my interest rate this month to 13%. I called about it, and they said that they raised rates on a lot of people's cards, and it had nothing to do with me (I was never late on a payment, etc). She said I could go back to my old rate, but would have to close the account - meaning no new charges.

With my family's financial situation, I just could not justify going to Disney again - we were just there in Sept 2008. I was thinking with my heart, not with my head. This interest rate hike just made gave me another reason why we should not go this year. So we have canceled the FD trip that I just booked yesterday. Hopefully we can get our debts paid off, and get to go next year.

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up about the interest rate - you may want to check yours. I hope everyone else has a great time! Say hi to the princesses for us!
