Free dining question: if you book the fd can you upgrade to the deluxe dining plan? And if so, how much more is it (per day?)?

I also have a pin code for 40% off certain times during the year---anyone crunched the numbers if it would be cheaper than free dining? We would prob stay at POFQ.

2 drawbacks--- I think anytime during FD would be alot busier than not? And my then senior in HS doesn't really want to miss days... she is an A student, so...should I make her?? :rotfl:

From Mousesavers...

If you want, you can upgrade to the Deluxe Dining Plan for just $32 per adult per night and $10 per child age 3-9 per night. (This represents the usual price difference between the regular Dining Plan and the Deluxe Dining Plan.) The Deluxe Dining Plan includes three meals a day at your choice of table service or counter service locations. You get an appetizer with your table service meals on the Deluxe Dining Plan. The Deluxe Dining Plan also includes two snacks per day and one refillable mug per person. You can eat like royalty!

re: 40% off vs Free Dining...
Depends in part on how many people you're traveling with and how much you would normally spend on dining.

There would be 3 of us, all considered adults. We dont do many snacks at all, but like to eat well at least once a day. Having deluxe dining would enable us to eat at a 2 TS almost daily.

My suggestion would be to check out the menus section and actually write down what you think it would come to for a typical day for the 3 of you.

Then you can compare what you'd save with FD (adding deluxe if you want) vs what you'd save with the 40% off offer. :thumbsup2

I have almost the same scenario - For two adults, two kids, 7 days/6 nights with Deluxe dining, at POFQ, with a 40% off code. Then free dining came out. We ended up switching to the free dining. We did keep the upgrade to deluxe dining (which was somewhere around $30/day per adult). With all of that, we still ending up saving about $220 over the pin code

Ok thats good to know.... I guess if we tried to go at the very end, it would potentially be less crowded. Crowds (or- the lack of them) is important too. I think with free dining, it will attract alot of people....

Since the packages are based on 4 people---is the cost they publish then less a few hundred dollars since we are only 3??

Ok I guess one more factor to throw in---I forgot we actually have tickets left from a 10 day pass from a few years ago. That might be a deciding factor to go 40% instead of FD, now that I think of it...???

I'm going to move this over to our resort code board. I'm sure they'll have additional info over there.
