2.2 million threads.. 34 million posts and over a quarter million members. Crazy hey?
How many of those members are planning trips this year...or this fall in particular? When we factor that in, the number drops considerably.

I do remember the overbooking at Pop from 2007 or 8 .. forget exactly which..

But I think it was 2007.. Anywho.. I can't honestly tell you how it got overbooked.. Not sure I ever knew.. :scared1:

I believe it was 2007. I read a couple of posts saying that Pop's FD sold out within a few days of the promo being released in 2007. However, two months after it released, DH & I were still able to get a room there. So who knows.

Given the resort 'flip floppers' here on the boards (hey - they have their own THREAD!) ... I'll be surprised if Disney doesn't add a change fee with more 'teeth' than their current change fee.

That would certainly cut down on the book now - change later.. stuff.

I hope it's okay, but I took this from Disney.co.uk so here are the correct amounts!

Looked it up on their website and copied

Changing a booking with Disney.co.uk

14-1 days 50%
Day of departure or later 100%

Wow so glad I booked bounce back last year. This thread is huge. Last year was are first year doing FD and so we booked again. Thought it was a great deal if you stay at a value resort.

I didn't realize it was this popular. My kids are 2 and 4 so not a huge savings for the kids. But once you start adding up the 100.00 it takes to do a character meal. IT is a big savings.

well.. I don't know. But there's at least 100 and probably close to 1000 ...

Just look at the craziness on these F/D threads.. you don't create a 20 page thread in 3 hours with 4 people.

This thread has 75000 views... I'm not sure how those numbers are tabulated.. but again.. you don't get to that with 4 people .. or even 100.. and this thread has only been around less than a week.

In fact, I just checked.. this thread has the most views of any thread ever created on the Resorts/Codes & Rates Board.

DOH!

This is off topic...but I hope Disney understands that if they charge us a change fee, they may as well charge me a cancel fee, too. MOST of my changes are to a higher priced resort, etc - if they want to charge me for that change, then they can keep it where it is. :rolleyes1

I just spoke to our AAA office in NC. Nothing concrete, but he says they are expecting a fall promotion by the months end. I was pretty shocked at how low the discount was using AAA. On the Disney site I got a rate for no dining at $1832.21 and with dining for $2797.23 and AAA rates were $1746 no dining and $2712 with dining. Not much of a discount but we will still use them to book if we decide to go.

Again different cultures mean different things are 'accepted as the norm' .. I don't think a hard nosed cancel fee would fly here..

But certainly a 'gonna make it cheaper than originally booked' fee would be well within the norm... Disney sometimes charges this less than 45 days to your booking for changes that result in a lower price.

*sometimes*

That's pretty much no discount.

Ok - cool. That means my source was pretty much bang on the money with what all the T/A's are hearing. Since we've now heard that from so many sources I really begin to give it more credibility.

Unless your TA is reading this thread on the DIS and parroting..

HAHA :lmao::lmao:

I have a contact that has allowed me to rent the points he has for his DVC membership. Given that I do this in the fall, would I also be eligible for any free dining/other discounts that may become available? I usually receive a pin code when they are offered, but I don't know how it would work in this situation...

As long as you are renting points and staying as a guest you can still use a FD discount!!

What are the chances of Disney releasing a new promo for summer travel? We are planning a trip May 22-30 and didn't book before the 20/30/40 promo ended March 27th because we weren't sure if we were going to be able to go. The new promo doesn't even compare to the old one, so I'm having a hard time with booking it, knowing just weeks ago I could've gotten a better deal. :sad1:

If you are renting DVC points, you can purchase the dining plan for all persons on your reservation.

You are not eligible for free dining.

HTH :)

Just to reiterate.. THIS poster is correct. If you staying on DVC points.. you are NOT eligible for F/D -- but you are eligible to purchase the dining plan with or without tickets.

I believe the offer coming this week *may* fit for those dates.. but depending on what it is - it may not be any more exciting than what you have seen so far.

We'll find out on Thursday. (hopefully)

They just released a summer offer last week... why would they release another one?

Cedar Point's resorts have a $50 cancel fee---but I think you can change your dates without being charged.

They are full all summer long.

You can check with Disney to get a for sure answer..

Why were they offering public offers of the 20/30/40 AND the Gift Card Promo at the same time?

To fill rooms that were going to sit empty.
