Wow really...I was told that as long as I am staying as a guest and booked a ticket and dining package...I could use the avaliable discount...thanks for correcting this. This goes to show CMs don't know everything.

They just released a summer offer last week... why would they release another one?

Well that certainly isn't how I've seen it before.. You really need to get the DVC member to call the member services line - and ask.

Because the regular CM's don't do a lot of DVC stuff and what they typically do is a cash rental - which is completely different.

Yeah actually here is a link with a DVC Member (and Mod) answering this:

It guarantees the person making the booking absolutely NOTHING. It does guarantee Disney an interest free loan of the money you put on deposit. So that's kinda good I guess... for them.

And if the deposit is paid with the Disney VISA card, Disney's free $200 loan is on Chase! ;)

So, ok, if I now see the evils of, and have had a change of heart about, my pre-booking......

background - we're arriving on 8/14 which, by all theories, will be the day prior to any FD promo period. I've booked 2 rooms using the 30% off room rate for our entire stay (well, actually, I just wanted to book a room-only for 8/14-8/15 but the CM who took my call at that time extended my original ressie from 8/15-8/23 to 8/14-8/23 and applied the promo to the entire shebang). If/when the FD (or other fall promo) is announced, I assume that my existing ressie will need to be whittled down to the aforementioned one night, room-only. Then a new, second ressie would need to be made using the fall promo code for the bulk of my trip. :headache: If I call now to implode my ressie down to the one-night, room-only with the 30% off room rate, then 2 rooms are now considered open and available as far as the bean-counters are concerned. BUT:

1 - what if the fall promo isn't effective for the bulk of our trip? Can I blow the ON/RO ressie back up into a package keeping the 30% (well, 35% for a 5 or more night stay) promo code which has since expired to new bookings?

2 - what if the fall promo is effective for the bulk of our trip but there are no more rooms available for the promo? I can't imagine this happening as I'm stalking the boards every day for news :rolleyes1 and I expect to pounce that morning, but... our third room is booked using the Kids Free promo and that will remain unchanged. If the answer to my first question is "no", then I am pretty much hanged and wind up paying full price on 2 rooms (read: my trip is now cancelled)

3 - I assume that the ADR's I've already made will still exist. They won't go *poof* on me, right?

Yeesh! Maybe I should just leave it alone until the fall offer(s) come out...

If you've already booked - I'd leave it. Especially if you have a decent discount and would be fine with traveling with what you have (worst case scenario)

And for #1 - You should be just fine to grow that package "up" as long as you don't require more rooms or a different resort for some strange reason.

What are the chances of Disney releasing a new promo for summer travel? We are planning a trip May 22-30 and didn't book before the 20/30/40 promo ended March 27th because we weren't sure if we were going to be able to go. The new promo doesn't even compare to the old one, so I'm having a hard time with booking it, knowing just weeks ago I could've gotten a better deal. :sad1:

They have a promo going on now. It is for up to 30% off select resorts. That is the only one I know of currently.

I am sitting on pins and needles as well regarding FD - even though I was lucky enough to get a pin and book it for 8/14 - 8/21. I would love love love to be able to book Bounceback, but if Disney doesn't offer "regular" FD, then I am guessing they won't offer Bounceback either. Of course, my DH may veto that idea anyway, after we melt in the August heat...

Thanks Canadian Guy...we decided to just stay at POP this year but next year I may use my friend's timeshare so I will def look into it further before I book anything!!:goodvibes

BB and public F/D have no interconnected status.

They may still offer it as a BB promo vs. a general public offer.

That would be wonderful - especially since next year our 9 yo will be a Disney adult, upping the number of adults to 4! :scared1: I don't think we could do the DDP without FD!

I believe the offer coming this week *may* fit for those dates.. but depending on what it is - it may not be any more exciting than what you have seen so far.

We'll find out on Thursday. (hopefully)

Do you have an inclination and can't say or do you just not know but hear it is for the summer, or can you either confirm nor deny anything I have questioneD?:rotfl:

Cuz that one isn't very good IMO. I think they just threw it out there to have something till they figure out what they want or the time comes that they want to release something else. I think they didn't want to have nothing. The one out there now is not as good as the one that just expired. If the other offers didn't entice people this one won't. I think they were just putting it out there on the chance of people who jsut started looking and didn't want to see NO SPECIAL OFFERS but JMO

Many CM's really don't. DVC members are not able to utilize FD offers while staying on points - regardless of whether they use the points themselves or rent them out to another party. DVC members are able to utilize FD offers just like anyone else though - by paying the price of the package in question.

Many DVC members do use the FD offers to save their points for other vacations. There's often an on-going thread about that over on the DVC boards - as many of the newer members who take the DVC tour while on-site jump at the chance to "own a piece of the magic" and pre-pay their accomodations for the next 45-50 years... but don't realize that they will no longer be able to stay using FD (unless they pay for it separately).

First of all, I don't think anything Disney does is "just thrown out there". Second of all, I don't see why people are complaining that the offers out there are "not as good" as the offers that are expired. We were told at the beginning of the year that discounts would be few and far between. This is just a confirmation of that.

Yes. Yes. And Yes. Err.. Wait.. how many questions did you ask.

What's Next? -> I do have a guess.. and I've posted it already.. (something similar to the kids visa deal currently out there for Disney Visa customers is my GUESS..)

Dates> -> I've heard wildly different date ranges.. but at least two of those sources both included the week you mentioned..

So.. that's what I know. Sounds to me like a decent chance that IF in fact something is to come out this week - it COULD potentially include that last week of May.

Im not complaining, I booked with the other deal, I am just saying that it wasn't as good. I am basing this off the fact that they aren't happy with their bookings so far and if that is the case, they will probably offer something a little bit better.

I just spoke to our AAA office in NC. Nothing concrete, but he says they are expecting a fall promotion by the months end. I was pretty shocked at how low the discount was using AAA. On the Disney site I got a rate for no dining at $1832.21 and with dining for $2797.23 and AAA rates were $1746 no dining and $2712 with dining. Not much of a discount but we will still use them to book if we decide to go.
Wow....I was gone for a couple hours and I feel like I missed two weeks worth of comments!

I am staying at POP and I called AAA to see what they had, but they were "sold out" for value resorts. I may be completely wrong here, but what I was told by someone on one of these threads (can't remember who or which one) that if I booked with AAA, I wouldn't be able to change to any of the promos that Disney offers (unless AAA also offers it). Again, I may be wrong here, but I wanted to let you know just in case. And if anyone can confirm or veto this, I would really like to know the answer too.

And thank you Canadian Guy. I'm glad you are here and I appreciate all your comments - but I wish just once you would say that you really thought FD will be coming out. Trying to hold on to a little bit of hope! (and I know you are going to say it and then retract it just to be funny!)

Thanks. I am sure I read that somewhere in these 50 some pages :) how could I forget :rotfl:

That one doesnt do too much for me but I am sure it will help some. I wish disney didn't classify adults at age 10, anyone know why they do that?

We always book our trips through AAA TA and if a better offer comes out than we have they have always applied it. Depends on if there are rooms available for that promo. On the restaurants boards there is a discussion for free dining and one of the posters said they talked to Disney today to see if they had a pin code for their name/address. The CM said no so the poster asked when FD would be coming our and the CM told them in no uncertain terms that it was IF FD came out because there is nothing mentioned at all.

My 12 year old son absolutely loves the fact that he's an adult in Disney's eyes 'cause everywhere else he's just a pre-teen.

I'm still going to keep my eyes peeled to this thread just in case there's a better offer than what I am booked with now. If not, I'm just happy to have gotten any kind of deal.

I think it's a reasonable probability. :rolleyes1 Maybe.

Ain't I evil?

Adults are 10 years old? They do that to make money is my guess. And then it makes some 10 year olds associate some pretty good feelings with Disney.. see below.
