Free Dining Questions - Ask 'Em Here!?

mickey2000, could I also please get your agent's info--mine is clueless! Thanks!

mickey2000, this is not directed at you.

Just wanted to point out that some people that claimed to get both AAA room discounts and free dining last year were actually mistaken.

When they disclosed their numbers, it turned out that the package was the same price as WDW Travel. A lot of folks think that if they book through AAA, they are automatically getting the AAA discount. The WDW TA site (which is what AAA uses) will display room availability and rates. If rooms are available at the AAA rate, it will be listed as a magical moments (or something like that) rate. If all discounted rooms are sold out, the regular rate will be displayed.

Anyway, just wanted to mention that so folks don't get their hopes up too much. If someone did (or does) get both discounts, it is an error as the promotion clearly stated "cannot be combined with any other offers".

That said, good luck on getting all the discounts you can!:thumbsup2

I just copied and pasted this directly from Mousesavers...

"Be aware that AAA offers a room discount that applies ONLY to full price packages. If a better promotional package comes out (and it frequently will), you can switch to the new promotion, but you lose the AAA discount. You can only pick one or the other."

I am in need of a AAA agent who is good at booking disney vacations, someone who is willing to watch for codes and discounts for me. Would anyone send me the info of their agent that they like.

Thanks so much:love:

mickey2000, i tried to pm u to ask for the agent as well but it said u weren't recieving pms:confused3 can you give me the info too? thanks so much

TRUE ! If like last year.........
If an agent is good and works with you as mine did last year you get BOTH discounts with AAA. I have only posted this fact about a dozen times! They subtracted the cost of dining from an existing package that I already had and I kept the lower price of the room. Maybe the key is to have an existing package when the free DDP kicks in!
Which I have done again this year............:cool1:

Can you also PM your AAA agent? I 'm also in NJ, but I don't like my AAA agent.

thanks!

mickey2000, could you please pm me with your TA's name? My AAA travel agent keeps arguing with me that I will only get one discount, either the AAA OR the free dining, not both. I'd like to have a little ammo to fire at her when free dining promo appears. Thanks!
ps. I'm not to thrilled with AAA at this point. First time ever using them to book (I've always controlled my own ressie). Not too sure if I'd ever use them again.

Here is why only one person was emailed the AAA agent I used.
""I'd like to see a PDF of the itinerary showing the double discount""

I am insulted by this and others. This is suppose to be a board where you help one another. As I said before maybe it was because I had an existing reservation.
I am a retired teacher of 35 years and I can do the math. They subtracted the cost of DDP from my discounted package.
Sorry to the others. End of discussion.......:sad2:

You can't share their name because what they doing, if they are, is against policy. If you got it more power to ya, it was a mistake though, so you should not be telling people it is acceptable.

What they are doing???? DISNEY gave the discount NOT the agent from AAA
The agent is the one who called Disney reservations to ask them to please apply the code !
My agent did not make a mistake......... Blame Disney if it was not allowed :rolleyes1
Last year I read others got both discounts. Guess a lot of mistakes were made!

This is where I would expect the moderators to come in and state, as they have before, that you cannot get both discounts..This is according to AAA, Disney, the moderators and Mousesavers. Do the agents make a lot of mistakes? You bet they do!

Maybe both discounts were allowed in previous years, but this year it is different.

You know Disney changes the rules each season.

Hope all of you get the best deal!!

2005 guests who booked through a AAA TA lost their AAA discount, had to pay rack rate, in order to get free dining.

2006 several posters were able to keep their AAA discounted resort rate and get free dining. Reservations are processed via computer. I doubt AAA TA's are able to obtain discounts that aren't allowed.

2007 free dining hasn't been announced.

I'm sure there are some people who were able to book with both promos. You can't get angry about that. It was probably a mistake that Disney made. Look how many people got the 40% off code that probably never had a pin attached to their name. Anything can happen. However, if you do have AAA you shouldn't book expecting both discounts. It is generally one or the other, so be ready to pick.
