Last year it came out on April 2 for Disney VISA cardholders and then on April 4 for the general public and you could book it through June 25, for check ins August 13 through September 30 (hurricane season!)
The offering that GrandmaDisney mentioned is being made solely through desks set up at some of the resorts. If you're currently staying at a Disney resort, you can book your next visit for the heart of hurricane season 2007, and get free dining. This doesn't preclude Disney from offering free dining to the general public, later (probably in early Spring), but it also doesn't mean that they definitely will.
Are DVC members and they booked last year - (they also have annual passes) - turned it into a package and added free dining. They purchased 1 day tickets.
The Disney Dining Plan is available to only:
- Guests booking a package at a Disney-owned resort, including park passes
and
- Guests using points to stay at a DVC property.
Free Dining was (and will be, when/if offered again) a promotion in conjunction with a vacation package.
Since Guests staying at DVC properties on points are not booking a package (even if they buy tickets), they were and are not eligible for package promotions, including this one.
The DVC members in the above thread were not able to add free dining to a DVC-on-points stay last year, with or without ticket purchase. Now, DVC members are welcome to book non-point packages at Disney resorts which would then make them eligible for promotions like this one, but...
Member Services cannot offer free dining. The only way for DVC members to get free dining is to basically make a reservation just like anyone else, paying cash for their package.
