Sorry if this is a silly question, but I am very new here. I have been researching a semi-last minute trip to WDW and my DH and I have decided the dining plan is a great idea for us. But it is definitely not free when I make sample vacations on the WDW website. What's the deal? Did it used to be free? Is it free during the slower season? Is it free with certain resorts?? Just curious! Thanks in advance!

It was a special Disney was offering between August 21st and October 4th. You had to have your package booked by August 20th.

The free dining offer is no longer available, as previously posted. But, the My Way Dining is still a great bargain for those staying in a WDW resort.

As the previous poster said, you can still do the MYW dining which is $35 per adult per day and I believe $10 per child per day. So for two adults it's $70/day and that gives you 1 counter service meal, 1 table service meal (which includes the character meals) and a snack. Still sounds like a great deal (unless of course you normally only do counter service anyway).

Do you have to use up all of the credits during that stay or are they paper vouchers that can be used in another trip? I've always wondered this and now I am gonna find out! Somehow!

Ali,

No, you do not have to use them all in one day. When you check in, the credits are put on your room key. You could use as many as you want on any day and they expire at midnight on your last day.

We went in August and it was great! On our last day wes till had 20 snacks left so we went stocked up on bottled water and snacks for the trip home.

IMHO, the meal plan is great.
Enjoy

The meal credits expire at Midnight the day of checkout. You loose what you do not use during your stay. But they are not day by day credits, if you do not use a CS credit one day, you still have it the next.

Is there a way to keep track of what you have used? I would imagine the night of arrival for dinner would you pick up a snack ie bottle of water to bring back to room or save it or is it optional?

Each time you use a creedit the receipt tells you on the bottom how many you have left for that service.

For example you have 25 TS, 25 CS and 25 snacks. You use 5 CS credits. Your receipt will satte on the bottom 20 CS remaining.

You can also get the status of your meal plan by going to the guest services desk at your Disney resort. They can pull it up. I noticed that the water at Boma had charged us a credit for our 2 year old who should have been free, and they were able to correct it at the guest services desk.

We also loved the dining plan and are paying for it for our mid-October trip. DH decided to go right after the offer expired. :sad2:

Last time we used it in March we spent $80 per day on the plan and always went over that amount when the actual bills were tallied. We tried new foods and restaurants, and loved the bottled water we got as snacks in the park.

We arrived on Sunday and didn't used any of our snack credits. We had a total of 20. One day I used 6 and so on. Last evening I still had 6 left so we went and got Powerade, water, ice cream, etc. There were 4 of us staying for 5 days. So we didn't have to use 4 each day. I could use them when I wanted to.

Make sure you always verify your purchase by looknig at the bottom of your receipt. It will tell you how many snacks (or Tableservice) that you have left so you can always verify your purchase.

Can you have dinning plan with "room only" reservations?
No you have to book a package that includes at least 1 day park passes for everyone in your party. Hope that helps!!

I haven't been on the boards in ages, so forgive me if this has been asked already....

What do the table service meals include? Appetizer, entree, drink & dessert? Is it good just for the table service restaurants in the parks, or are resort hotels included too? Are some restaurants excluded?

Thanks for your answers, these boards are great!

Yes, appetizer, entree, drink, dessert, tax, and tip! Here is a link to the restaurants that are included:

Every place we stopped at for our snacks seemed to take the card. Also, pick up one of the brochures at the front of the park, and it also tells you which restaurants are tableservice. I thought it would be a lot harder finding restaurants, etc., but it was very, very easy. We ate at Hoop Dee Doo (this required 2 tableservice vouchers), BOMA, Cinderella's Castle for Dinner, 50s Prime Time Cafe (this was awesome), and the Japanese Restaurant.

I heard so many people complain about the food being horrible. I thought it was pretty good.

You can use TS at resorts and it includes everything you mentioned. You can print a listing of all rest. (It's several pages.) if you go to Disney Dining. Allears.net also has sample menus from all the rest. Enjoy!! :earsgirl:
