Free Dining Oct-Dec Is Here!!

Lion King, and everybody who wanted that as there 1st or 2nd choice got it the first day of both releases (DV and GP). I believe they were even available the second day but by the third day they were gone. Cars was only available a few days after that. There is always a chance and you could always try the online option too; even if you are on hold to speak to a CM...lol.

I'd be ok with Lion King. I've been looking at them I think I may even like that theme a little more!! Lol. Thanks for the info!!

That is exactly what I did and thought too...lol. They are super cute and I love the colors.

However, not to freak anyone out, about a month after booking free dining I asked my TA to check about changing number of ticket days before the increase. She gave me a new "total" and I am no math whiz, but I knew something was wrong. I asked her and she thought the same thing and called. The CM thought he was applying the free dining, but instead did a room only and changed me from the regular dining plan to quick service. The case went to an official 24-hour review and because they tape record all TA calls, Disney was able to verify it was their mistake and put me back in a Nemo room with the free dining. That was very nice, but the Lion King rooms had grown on me.;)

If CM's do not know about the discount on the morning of the 29th when do you expect them to know, later that same day? I am so tense about this I just don't think I could handle being told no again!

Don't hang up! Just ask them to check their morning email or/and to ask their supervisor!:thumbsup2

I'm new to the forum, as I've been lurking and reading about the free dining for the last week or so. Someone earlier mentioned the POR standard view rooms are booked up for the time period they will be at Disney. The same is true for me. I'll be there 10/18 - 10/23 and I currently have a standard view room at POR. I checked the other day and all of the standard view rooms are booked. Does that mean I will have to upgrade to a Garden or River view room in order to get the free dining? Thanks in advance.

Thanks again! CBR sounds great. We are so excited. I'm keeping the Pirate room a secret to surprise the kids. Are you a member on the December fb group?

No, I wasn't aware of a fb (facebook?) group. I'm still a newbie to all this too.

agree with other poster, just ask them to check. Most CM's will be accommodating. I've only had one time someone wasn't, but he was clearly very new/inexperienced and didn't have a clue where to look. He put me on hold to talk to a supervisor/manager and *poof* the deals were found :)

I've already arranged to go in later to work on Aug 1st so I can call at 7am! Those extra days from visa offer to GP are going to kill me. Wish we had Chase in our small town.

Me too. I really wanted a Visa debit card for "just in case" scenario. But in a town of 12K we're limited in banking options.

If FD is announced on the 29th for Disney Visa holders, which I am, would the discount be available for online reservations? I will be camping that day, and I am on the west coast, so making a phone call that early in the morning would be a little difficult.

Unfortunately, all DV offers must be done by phone. The deal is not available on the Disney booking site at all until it goes public.

I would assume that you will have to upgrade to another view to get FD. Some have reported seeing public FD for standard rooms. But I think they are few and far between (or excluded completely depending on dates/availability of your visit). I've haven't seen them myself...it's always been a garden room or higher.

Unless I'm missing something not available to you...you don't need to visit a physical Chase bank in order to apply for the Chase Disney Visa. You can apply online: https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/disney_classic/chasecomdisney?CELL=648T

Thanks. I've been contemplating a RGR anyway. Maybe I will go that route when the free dining is announced.

Last year's dates weren't too different. Looks like that third set of dates is a bit longer, but you could've got all the major holidays in with varying lengths of stay. See a comparison below:

2012 Free Dining Dates
9/30 – 10/4
10/19– 11/1
11/9 – 11/15
11/23 – 11/29
12/10 – 12/20

2013 Free Dining Dates
9/29 - 10/2
10/18 - 11/2
11/11 - 11/23
12/12 - 12/22

The dates are similar but the 2013 dates are way more convenient for weeklong holiday stays as compared to 2012. The 2013 dates match up better with school breaks which is surprising but great news for many (and I'm in no way saying that the dates you are listing are incorrect). In 2012, you could not get FD if you were checking in the weekend before Jersey Week (had to be the Thurs. prior). In 2013, you can check in on Saturday and have FD for all of Jersey Week. In 2012, you had to check in one full week prior to Thanksgiving or the day after. In 2013, you can check-in the Sat. before Thanksgiving and have it for the whole week. Checking in on 12/22 is more convenient for a Christmas stay then the previous 12/20. Just an observation. I bet it will make a lot of families happy.

We're not headed back until 2014 so I have a lot of waiting to do, lol.

I am booked from 10/6- 10/12 and I am confused about the possible discounts. It appears that the Free meal plan is out due to the info posted but i am hoping for a Room discount. My ? is since I have a package will the RO discount not apply to my reservation? If not what are my options if s discount is offered?

You can apply a room discount to a package :)

You just can't stack discounts, so as long you don't already have a discount applied, you're fine.

I have been trying to read this entire thread for my answer, but it is growing so fast! We are scheduled to arrive on 10/4, so it sounds like I will miss out on the FD (unless we change dates). But to be honest, I would be thrilled with a Room Only discount. Has anyone seen info on if there will be a RO offer and/or if it will be for the same dates as we expect FD? Thanks!!
